Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

WorldRemit transfer on hold: documents they may ask for

WorldRemit holds transfers for three reasons: documents, information or a security check. What each means, which documents it accepts and how to clear it.

The short answer

WorldRemit puts a transfer on hold when it is waiting for documents from you, waiting for information from you, or running a security check; its help page says security holds are usually released within an hour. For documents, it accepts only government-issued, in-date, clear and readable ID, and for UK senders its proof of address must be no more than six months old and issued or certified by UK authorities. You upload documents as the email instructs, or reply to the email with the information asked for.

A WorldRemit transfer to Nigeria that shows a hold has not failed; it is waiting for something. WorldRemit's "Transfer processing" help page, as read in October 2026, sets out three kinds of hold, and each one needs a different response from you.

The three kinds of hold

HoldWhat WorldRemit saysWhat you do
Documents requested"We're awaiting documents from you"Upload the documents as instructed in the email
Information requested"We're awaiting further information from you"Reply to the email with your answers; nothing more is needed
Security checkSome transfers are held "to ensure your money is kept safe"; usually released within an hourWait; the status updates when it is resolved

WorldRemit adds that if a transfer is later than the time given in your confirmation email, it may be waiting on you, or there may be an issue it is working to resolve, in which case it says it will keep you informed by email and you can wait or ask to cancel in the app or on the website.

Which documents WorldRemit accepts

For identity documents, the help page sets three conditions: government-issued only, in date (not expired), and clear and readable. WorldRemit's sender FAQ for the United Kingdom is more specific:

  • Photo ID: a current passport, a current European driving licence or a current European residence permit, showing the machine-readable zone, with all four corners in the image.
  • Proof of address: a utility bill (landline, mobile, electricity, gas, water, internet or council rates), a bank statement, or a listed photo ID that shows your address, no more than six months old.
  • Where issued: documents must be issued or certified by authorities within the United Kingdom; others are not accepted.

Senders in other countries should open the sender FAQ for their own country, because the accepted list follows local rules. WorldRemit's US page for Nigeria mentions phone verification by one-time code and says it may require proof of ID and a selfie.

Why a transfer gets held

WorldRemit's Nigeria page lists what slows delivery: inaccurate recipient information, ID verification, and the operating hours of third parties such as banks. WorldRemit does not publish its triggers, but the factors on its pages point to situations such as:

  • A first transfer, before your identity is fully verified.
  • An amount larger than your usual pattern.
  • A change of address, phone number or payment card.
  • Details that do not match, such as a name on your card that differs from your profile.

Large or unusual transfers can also lead to source-of-funds questions; see large transfers and source of funds and enhanced due diligence.

Clearing a hold quickly

  1. Read the email from WorldRemit carefully, including the spam folder, and note whether it asks for documents or information.
  2. For documents, photograph the whole page in good light, with no glare or cut-off corners, and upload through the link given.
  3. Make sure the name and address match your WorldRemit profile exactly.
  4. For information, reply to the same email; WorldRemit says there is no need to do anything further.
  5. Wait for WorldRemit's email confirming next steps. Its page says the team reviews documents quickly but gives no fixed time.

When the problem is on the recipient's side

Not every stuck transfer is a hold on you. For cash pickup, WorldRemit's cash pickup FAQ says the recipient needs valid photo ID with a full name matching the transfer, plus the transaction reference, and that the sender can update details if something is wrong. For bank deposits, a name or account number that the Nigerian bank rejects will stop the payout even after your checks are cleared. Ask your recipient for a screenshot of their account name before you correct anything, and see WorldRemit bank deposit or cash pickup for the trade-offs.

A worked example

Example only: you live in Manchester and send £900 to your mother's bank account, more than your usual £200. WorldRemit emails asking for proof of address. You upload a council tax bill dated two months ago in your name at your current address. It is UK-issued and under six months old, so it meets the UK page's conditions. Had you uploaded a Nigerian utility bill, it would not have met them, and the hold would have continued.

What WorldRemit does not say

The help page gives no deadline for sending documents and does not say what happens if you never respond. Assume the transfer will not move, and ask WorldRemit's support, which its Nigeria page says is available 24/7, before you send the same money another way. If you decide to cancel, see cancelling a transfer to Nigeria and getting a refund.

Where Pryme fits

Every provider checks identity, and Pryme is no exception. Once your Pryme account is verified, transfers you send show the rate and the fee before you approve, and you can keep naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros in one account; see multicurrency.

Questions people ask

How long does a WorldRemit security hold last?

WorldRemit says security holds are usually released within an hour, and the status updates when resolved.

Can I use a Nigerian bank statement as proof of address for WorldRemit UK?

WorldRemit's UK sender FAQ says documents must be issued or certified by UK authorities, so a Nigerian statement would not meet that condition.

What ID does WorldRemit accept in the UK?

A current passport, a current European driving licence or a current European residence permit, clear, in date and with the machine-readable zone visible.

Can I cancel a WorldRemit transfer on hold?

WorldRemit says that where it is resolving an issue, you can wait or request cancellation through the website or app.
