Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

WhatsApp TV: how it makes money and what to charge

How WhatsApp TV operators earn from status adverts, how to price by real view counts, how audiences grow, and the consent rules for contact lists.

The short answer

A WhatsApp TV earns mainly by selling space on its WhatsApp Status, and sometimes in groups or channels, to small businesses that want their products seen by the operator's saved contacts. Fair pricing is based on the views a status actually gets, shown as screenshots of the viewer count, not on the number of contacts saved, and growing the list must respect people's consent under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

How a WhatsApp TV works

A "WhatsApp TV" is a WhatsApp account, usually on WhatsApp Business, that posts a steady stream of status updates: news, gist, jokes, job openings, campus updates, football, or adverts. People save the number to see the statuses. Once enough people watch regularly, the operator sells slots to vendors who want those eyes on their products.

Income usually comes from:

  • Paid status posts: a vendor's flyer or video posted once, or several times across a day.
  • Promo bundles: for example a set of posts across a week, sometimes with a repost at peak hours.
  • Group or channel adverts: pinned posts in WhatsApp groups or channels the operator runs.
  • "Status view" or "contact gain" services: helping others grow their own lists (handle with care, see the consent section).
  • Affiliate links and referral codes for products the audience might buy.
  • Running statuses for businesses that lack the time to post their own.

Pricing by views, not contacts

Saved contacts are not an audience. What a vendor pays for is the number of people who see the advert. WhatsApp shows the viewer count on each status, so the fair unit of sale is views per post. Track your numbers for two to four weeks before you set prices:

  1. Record the view count of each status after 24 hours.
  2. Note the time posted; morning and late evening often perform differently.
  3. Work out your typical views per post (the middle value of your records is safer than the best day).
  4. Price per post from that figure, with bundles at a small discount.
  5. Send vendors screenshots of view counts after their adverts run.

Worked example (illustrative figures only)

A campus WhatsApp TV finds that a typical status gets 1,200 views in 24 hours. The operator sets ₦1,500 per single post and a weekly bundle of five posts for ₦6,000.

  • Price per 1,000 views on a single post: ₦1,500 ÷ 1.2 = ₦1,250
  • Bundle per post: ₦6,000 ÷ 5 = ₦1,200
  • If eight vendors buy the weekly bundle in a month: 8 × ₦6,000 = ₦48,000
  • Less data (say ₦5,000) and a backup phone line (say ₦2,000): ₦41,000 before tax

These are examples to show the method, not market rates. If your views fall because you post too many adverts, your price per view rises and vendors notice. Many operators cap adverts at a share of each day's statuses to keep viewers watching.

What vendors ask before paying

  • Recent view screenshots, not a contact count.
  • Who the viewers are: students, workers, a particular estate or city.
  • When the advert will go up, and whether it will be reposted.
  • Whether past vendors got enquiries; a few short testimonials help.

Growing an audience that watches

  • Pick a lane: one school, one estate, one city, one topic. A clear niche sells better to vendors.
  • Post useful content most of the time: jobs, prices, events, updates people want to check.
  • Be consistent: a set posting schedule trains viewers to come back.
  • Ask people to save your number with a clear message of what they will get.
  • Use your other social media to invite followers, with a link that opens a chat.

Phone numbers are personal data. The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, signed on 14 June 2023 according to KPMG's review, governs how personal data is collected and used in Nigeria and created a registration regime for larger data controllers. In practice for a WhatsApp TV operator, that means:

  • Only add or message people who chose to save your number or join your list.
  • Do not buy, sell or swap contact lists, and be cautious with "save my number, I save yours" schemes that pass numbers on to third parties.
  • Give people an easy way to stop receiving broadcasts, and honour it.
  • Do not post other people's photos, chats or personal details without their permission.

WhatsApp's own terms and business policies also limit bulk and automated messaging, and accounts that are reported often can be banned, which ends the business overnight. Read our guide on sending WhatsApp promos under NDPA rules. This is information, not legal advice.

Running it like a business

Keep a simple log of each advert: vendor, amount paid, date and time posted, and view count. Refuse adverts for get-rich-quick schemes, loan apps you cannot verify, and anything that looks like fraud; one scam advert can cost you your audience's trust. Local vendors pay by transfer; since 1 January 2026, the ₦50 stamp duty on transfers of ₦10,000 or more is charged to the sender, per Kuda's explainer of the Nigeria Tax Act 2025. Advert income is taxable; see tax on side hustle income. For other ideas in this lane, see content creation income.

Where Pryme fits

When a vendor asks for proof that an advert was paid for, you can generate a verifiable receipt through VerifyDoc.ai that anyone can check is genuine and unaltered (receipts).

Questions people ask

How much do WhatsApp TVs charge for adverts?

There is no standard price. Operators price per status post or weekly bundle based on the views a status typically gets, shown by screenshots of the viewer count.

How many contacts do I need to start a WhatsApp TV?

There is no minimum. What matters is how many people actually view your statuses. A few hundred regular viewers in a clear niche can attract local vendors.

Is it legal to add people to my WhatsApp TV without permission?

Phone numbers are personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Only message people who chose to save your number or join, and let them opt out easily.

Can WhatsApp ban my WhatsApp TV account?

Yes. Accounts that send bulk or automated messages, or that many people report, can be restricted or banned under WhatsApp's own terms.
