Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Wells Fargo international wire to Nigeria: how to send

How to send a Wells Fargo wire to a Nigerian bank from Wells Fargo Online, the fees for dollar and foreign currency wires, and details to collect.

The short answer

In Wells Fargo Online you go to Transfer & Pay, then Wire Money, choose the recipient and amount and review before sending. Per Wise's May 2026 guide, citing Wells Fargo's consumer fee schedule, a digital wire costs $25 in US dollars, $0 in foreign currency (the cost is in the rate) and $40 in a branch.

Wells Fargo is among the cheaper large US banks for sending a wire abroad online. For Nigeria the choice between a dollar wire and a foreign currency wire shapes both the fee and where the cost sits. This guide covers the steps, fees and details, as at October 2026.

Fees

The figures below are from Wise's guide (updated 23 May 2026), which cites Wells Fargo's Consumer fee and information schedule (form CNS2013). NerdWallet's July 2026 survey gives the same amounts. NerdWallet notes premium accounts may differ; check your own schedule.

WireFee
Online, in US dollars$25
Online, in foreign currency (consumer)$0, with the cost in Wells Fargo's exchange rate
In a branch$40
Incoming international (NerdWallet)$0

Dollar or foreign currency wire to Nigeria?

A dollar wire suits a domiciliary account or a bank that will convert on arrival; it costs $25 online, and intermediaries may deduct charges. A foreign currency wire has no wire fee, but Wells Fargo converts at its own rate, so compare the naira shown with the mid-market rate before you confirm, and check that naira is offered for your recipient. Since money transfer operators now pay only in naira, a dollar wire is the main way to put dollars in a family member's domiciliary account. See wiring to a domiciliary account and intermediary bank fees.

Details to collect

  • The Nigerian bank's name, address and SWIFT/BIC code; see SWIFT codes for Nigerian banks.
  • The recipient's account number and account name, exactly as held.
  • Any extra fields the online form asks for Nigeria; Wise notes some countries require a reason for payment.
  • Correspondent bank details if the recipient's bank gives them for dollar credits.

How to send in Wells Fargo Online

  1. Sign in to Wells Fargo Online.
  2. Go to Transfer & Pay and select Wire Money.
  3. Add or choose the recipient, the account to pay from and the amount, and any details required for Nigeria.
  4. Review the fee, currency and, for foreign currency, the rate.
  5. Send. A branch can help if you need a higher limit.

Wise reports that Wells Fargo does not publish wire limits on its website; your limit is shown before you confirm an online wire.

A wire or a transfer app?

A wire suits large or formal payments, and it is the main route for putting dollars into a domiciliary account: it carries a full SWIFT record that schools, landlords and lawyers can match to an invoice. For a few hundred dollars of family support paid in naira, a licensed transfer app is often quicker, because it pays a Nigerian account directly in naira and shows the naira figure up front, while a wire can lose part of the sum to intermediary charges. Price both for the same amount. Our guide to exchange rate margins shows how to compare the naira received against the total you pay, whichever route you choose.

Worked example (illustrative)

You wire $1,800 in dollars online to your daughter's school account in Nigeria. Wells Fargo charges $25, so $1,825 leaves your account. If an intermediary deducts $15 (an example figure), $1,785 arrives; tell the school in advance, or agree a reference, so a small shortfall does not hold up the receipt. Sending the same sum as a foreign currency wire would remove the $25 fee but put the cost into the rate.

Timing and protection

Wise says a Wells Fargo wire can take one to three business days to process, with international delivery depending on the destination and any review. Consumer wires abroad are remittance transfers under federal law: you can cancel within 30 minutes free unless the money has been deposited, and you have 180 days from the promised date to report an error (CFPB). Wires from your account are exempt from the 1% US remittance tax on cash-funded transfers (Pillsbury, April 2026). If a wire comes back, see returned wires.

Where Pryme fits

For regular transfers, a Pryme account opened from the US holds dollars and naira, and Swap converts when you choose, with the rate shown first and the fee on its own line. See the multicurrency account.
