Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Waste collection in Ado-Ekiti: the Ekiti waste levy explained

Who collects waste in Ado-Ekiti, how PSP operators bill homes and shops, illustrative levy amounts and how to check a bill before paying.

The short answer

Waste in Ado-Ekiti is collected under a state system, with a state waste management body overseeing licensed private (PSP) operators who bill homes and shops. No official levy schedule was published on the pages we could open; ask for a printed bill naming the operator, pay into a business account and keep the receipt.

Who collects waste in Ado-Ekiti

Household and shop waste in Ado-Ekiti is collected under a state system: a state waste management body, commonly referred to as the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, oversees collection, and licensed private operators (often called PSP operators, for private sector participation) do much of the street-level pickup and bill the properties they serve. We could not open an official page for the board during our research, so confirm its current name, office and contacts from your bill or at the state secretariat in Ado-Ekiti before you pay anyone.

It helps to know which agency is not responsible. The Ekiti State Environmental Protection and Watershed Management Agency (EKSEPWMA), under the Ministry of Environment, has a 2024 service level agreement describing its work as monitoring environmental and social impact assessments, overseeing riparian and flood-prone areas, and controlling hazardous chemicals. That document does not cover household waste collection or a sanitation levy. If someone presents an EKSEPWMA demand for household refuse, ask questions before paying.

What the waste levy is, and how much

A waste bill pays for collection from your property and disposal at an approved site. Across Nigerian cities it is commonly charged per household or per shop, and the amount depends on the type and size of the property and how often collection happens. We could not find a published Ekiti waste-levy schedule on any official page we opened, so we do not quote an official rate. The figures below are illustrative examples only, to help you budget.

Property type (illustrative)Example monthly billExample yearly cost
Flat or room in a shared compound₦2,000₦24,000
Shop or small business₦5,000₦60,000

Ask your landlord whether waste collection is included in your service charge; it is common for a landlord or caretaker to pay one bill for all tenants and recovers it through the service charge. Our guide to first-month costs in Ado-Ekiti lists this among the questions to ask before moving in.

How to pay safely

Ekiti State routes payments for state permits through Remita or a bank into the state's IGR account and then issues an Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) e-receipt, as the state's own permit procedures describe. The EKIRS portal lists Remita among its payment options. A waste bill from a state body should give you a similar trail. Private operators may bill directly; in that case:

  • Ask for a printed bill showing the operator's name, the area it is licensed for and the period covered.
  • Ask which state body licensed the operator and check with that body if in doubt.
  • Pay by transfer to the business account on the bill, not to an individual's personal account.
  • Keep every receipt; you will need them if a later bill claims arrears.
  • Report missed collections in writing, with dates, before you agree to pay for a period with no service.

Keeping waste bagged, out of drains and in the place your collector expects also matters. Dumping refuse in gutters or open plots blocks drainage, worsens flooding in the rainy season, and can expose you to enforcement by state or local officials. If collection on your street is irregular, raise it with neighbours and report it together; a group complaint with dates is harder to ignore than one person's call.

Shops and businesses

Businesses usually pay more than households, and some kinds of business may need extra approvals. EKSEPWMA's service level agreement says waste treatment and disposal facilities must complete an environmental impact assessment before operating, with fees paid through Remita or a bank teller and receipted by EKIRS. An ordinary shop is not a waste facility, but a business that generates unusual waste, such as chemicals, should ask EKSEPWMA what applies. Our guide to levies a shop pays in Ado-Ekiti covers the other charges.

Living in the development areas

Ado-Ekiti is administered as one local government area with three development areas, Ado Central, Ado-West and Ado-North, according to the state government. Collection arrangements and the operator serving your street can differ between neighbourhoods, so the quickest way to find out who collects where you live is to ask your landlord and neighbours and look at a recent bill on your street.

What to check first

  1. Find out whether your landlord already pays for collection.
  2. Get the name of the operator and the body that licensed it.
  3. Ask for a printed bill before paying, and pay into a business account.
  4. Keep receipts and note any missed collections.

Where Pryme fits

Waste bills are not among the bills you can pay in the Pryme app, which covers airtime, data, electricity and cable TV. You can still send a transfer to the operator's business account, and a Personal Assistant can remind you when the bill is due, preparing the payment for your approval; see our guide to bill reminders that work. For electricity, see our guide to buying BEDC tokens in Ado-Ekiti.

Questions people ask

Who collects refuse in Ado-Ekiti?

A state waste management body, commonly referred to as the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, oversees collection, with licensed private (PSP) operators doing much of the pickup. Confirm the operator for your street from a recent bill.

How much is the waste levy in Ekiti State?

We could not find a published official schedule. Our illustrative example is about ₦2,000 a month for a flat and ₦5,000 for a small shop; ask for a printed bill showing the actual amount.

Is EKSEPWMA in charge of waste collection?

Its 2024 service level agreement describes environmental impact monitoring, watershed and flood-prone areas and hazardous chemicals, not household waste collection.

How do I know a waste collector is genuine?

Ask for a printed bill naming the operator and the body that licensed it, pay into a business account and keep receipts. Do not pay cash to an individual on the spot.
