Ten years, one trunk

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ghana

How do I give Nigerian customers receipts they can verify?

What makes a receipt verifiable, why buyers in Nigeria value proof they can check themselves, and how GRA's E-VAT and VerifyDoc.ai receipts differ.

The short answer

A receipt is verifiable when the person holding it can check, without calling you, that it was issued by you and has not been altered. In Ghana, invoices from GRA's E-VAT system carry a QR code that a 2024 trade report says anyone can scan to check against GRA's records; for payment receipts and statements, Pryme customers can generate a verifiable version through Pryme's partner VerifyDoc.ai, which anyone can check is genuine and unaltered.

Fake transfer receipts and edited invoices are a known problem in cross-border trade. A buyer in Lagos paying a supplier in Accra, or a Nigerian customer claiming a refund from a Ghana business, often has no easy way to know whether the paper in front of them is real. Giving customers a receipt they can check themselves removes that doubt and saves back-and-forth.

What makes a receipt verifiable

A regular receipt is a document: a PDF, a photo or a printout. Anyone with editing software can change the amount or the date. A verifiable receipt has a way for the recipient to confirm two things independently:

  1. Who issued it. The receipt can be traced to the business or system that produced it.
  2. That it is unchanged. If any detail has been altered since it was issued, the check fails.

Our Nigeria library explains the idea in more depth in what is a verifiable receipt? and regular vs verifiable receipts.

Why it matters for Nigerian buyers

  • Distance. A buyer in another country cannot walk into your shop to confirm a payment.
  • Their own audit. A Nigerian company's finance team needs reliable support for what it paid you; an unverifiable PDF invites questions.
  • Disputes. When a customer says they paid and you cannot see it, a verifiable receipt settles quickly whether the document is real.
  • Trust in a new relationship. First orders from a new supplier abroad are where buyers are most cautious.

Ghana's E-VAT invoices: verifiable by design

If you are VAT-registered and on GRA's E-VAT system, your tax invoices already carry a verification route. A 2024 trade report on the system says every valid E-VAT receipt must have a readable QR code holding the seller's TIN, the invoice signature, the total amount, total taxes and the date and time, and that anyone can scan it with a smartphone to cross-check it against GRA's records. A July 2026 software vendor guide says each invoice is validated by GRA's Virtual Sales Data Controller and stamped with a unique ID and QR code before it is issued.

That covers your Ghana VAT invoice. Two gaps remain for many cross-border sellers: payment receipts and statements, which are not tax invoices, and supplies that are not on E-VAT at all. See whether your business must use E-VAT and how buyers verify an E-VAT invoice.

When a customer disputes a payment

Verifiable documents earn their keep when something goes wrong. A practical sequence for a Ghana business with a Nigerian customer who says a payment was made, or a refund was not received:

  1. Ask the customer for the receipt they are relying on, and check whether it is a verifiable one.
  2. If it is, verify it before discussing anything else; a failed check ends most disputes quickly.
  3. Match the receipt number and payment reference against your bank or wallet statement.
  4. Send your own verifiable receipt or statement for the transaction in reply, so both sides look at the same record.
  5. Keep the exchange in the transaction's file.

Steps to start

  1. Keep issuing E-VAT invoices from certified software for Ghana VAT supplies.
  2. For payment receipts and statements, use a tool that produces a verifiable version.
  3. Tell new Nigerian customers on your first invoice how they can verify your documents.
  4. Keep your own copy of every receipt; PwC's Ghana summary says records must be kept for at least six years.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme partners with VerifyDoc.ai. Any Pryme customer can generate a regular or a verifiable receipt or statement for a payment, and anyone, including your Nigerian customer, can check that a verifiable one is genuine and unaltered. See receipts on Pryme and the Business Account, which holds naira so Nigerian customers can pay you by local transfer.

Questions people ask

What is a verifiable receipt?

A receipt the holder can check was issued by you and has not been altered, without having to contact you.

Can Nigerian customers check a Ghana E-VAT invoice?

A 2024 trade report says the QR code on a valid E-VAT receipt can be scanned with any smartphone and cross-checked against GRA's records.

Is a bank transfer screenshot proof of payment?

It is weak proof, because screenshots are easy to edit. A verifiable receipt or the bank's own confirmation is stronger.

Does VerifyDoc.ai replace my E-VAT invoice?

No. Ghana VAT invoices must come from GRA-certified systems. A VerifyDoc.ai verifiable receipt covers payment receipts and statements.
