Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United States

T-bill primary auction dates: planning purchases from the US

How the CBN's quarterly T-bill programme sets auction Wednesdays, and how to time naira funding from the US so your bid is not missed.

The short answer

The CBN publishes a quarterly Nigerian Treasury bill issue programme, and primary auctions are held on Wednesdays with settlement on Thursdays. For Q4 2026, Nairametrics' reading of the programme listed offers on 7, 14 and 28 October, with no offer on 21 October. From the US, have naira in your dealer's account a few working days before their cut-off, not on auction day.

If you buy Nigerian T-bills from the US, the hard part is rarely the bid. It is getting naira to the right account before your dealer's cut-off, across a time difference and a weekend. Knowing how the auction calendar works lets you plan the transfer instead of chasing it.

How the auction calendar works

The CBN runs NTB auctions on behalf of the DMO under a quarterly issue programme that lists each auction date and the amount offered per tenor (91, 182 and 364 days). Nairametrics' 14 October 2026 report, based on the Q4 programme, lists:

Auction (Wednesday)Offer reportedNote
7 Oct 2026₦900bn₦968.47bn allotted, settlement 8 Oct
14 Oct 2026₦450bn (₦50bn / ₦50bn / ₦350bn)91 / 182 / 364 days
21 Oct 2026No offerAbout ₦392.79bn maturing
28 Oct 2026₦800bnAs listed in the programme

The same report says Q4 offers total about ₦5.40 trillion against maturities of about ₦5.429 trillion, with the 364-day bill taking roughly three quarters. The CBN can change amounts; check the latest circular through your dealer or the CBN website before each auction.

The auction day itself

The CBN notice for the 29 July 2026 auction, as reported by Nairametrics, described a Dutch auction with bids through the CBN's S4 interface between 8am and 11am Lagos time. Lagos is five hours ahead of New York during US daylight saving time and six hours ahead in winter, so the bidding window closes at about 6am Eastern in summer. Your dealer will have an earlier internal deadline.

Working back from the auction: a timing plan

  1. Get the date from your dealer as soon as the quarter's programme is out, and ask for their order cut-off (often one or two working days before).
  2. Count back for your transfer. A US-to-Nigeria transfer can arrive in minutes or take days depending on the provider and checks; use the provider's own estimate and add a buffer.
  3. Avoid sending on a Friday for a Wednesday deadline if your provider's processing pauses at weekends or on US or Nigerian public holidays.
  4. Send the order with amount, tenor and whether you are bidding competitively (stating a rate) or non-competitively (accepting the stop rate).
  5. Check the allotment the day after. If your bid was above the stop rate, you may get nothing, and the cash sits until the next auction.

Mistakes that cost US-based buyers an auction

  • Sending dollars on the morning of the cut-off and assuming same-day conversion.
  • Sending naira to an account in a different name from the dealer account, which triggers compliance holds.
  • Forgetting that US federal holidays can slow a US-side transfer even when Lagos is open.
  • Bidding a rate well above recent stop rates and receiving no allotment.
  • Leaving maturity instructions unclear, so proceeds sit idle for a week or two.

Primary or secondary: does the date matter?

Only for the primary market. Bills already issued trade every business day; Stanbic IBTC's FAQ gives secondary trading hours of 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday. If you miss an auction, a dealer can usually sell you a secondary bill with a slightly different maturity. The price reflects market rates that day, not the auction stop rate.

Rolling over from abroad

Maturities are paid on settlement Thursdays. If you want to reinvest, tell your dealer in advance to roll the proceeds into the next auction; otherwise the cash is paid out and you repeat the cycle. A quarter with fewer offers than maturities, as in Q4 2026, can mean more competition. Our guide to managing T-bill rollovers from the US covers the choices, and buying T-bills through a stockbroker covers accounts and fees.

Worked example (illustrative)

You plan to bid ₦2,000,000 at the 28 October auction. Your dealer's cut-off is Monday 26 October, 12 noon Lagos time (7am Eastern). Your transfer provider estimates one to two business days. Sending on Wednesday 21 October leaves room for one delay; sending on Friday 23 October does not.

Where Pryme fits

Timing is easier when the naira is already in place. A Pryme account holds USD and NGN with local details for each, so you can Swap to naira early in the week and send to your dealer when the order is confirmed; the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve.

Questions people ask

How often are Nigerian T-bill auctions held?

Under the CBN's quarterly programme, on most Wednesdays, though some weeks have no offer. In Q4 2026, 21 October had no offer.

Where can I find the T-bill auction calendar?

The CBN publishes the quarterly NTB issue programme; dealers circulate it and outlets such as Nairametrics report each auction.

What time is the T-bill auction in US time?

Bids reported for July 2026 ran 8am to 11am Lagos time, about 3am to 6am Eastern in summer. Your dealer's cut-off is earlier.

What if I miss the auction?

Buy a secondary-market bill through your dealer, or wait for the next auction date in the programme.
