Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

T-bill and bond auction calendar: planning purchases

Where the CBN and DMO publish Nigerian Treasury bill and FGN bond auction dates, how the Q4 2026 programme looks, and how to plan from abroad.

The short answer

The CBN publishes a quarterly Nigerian Treasury bill issuance programme on behalf of the DMO, with auctions usually held on Wednesdays and settled on Thursdays; the DMO publishes FGN bond offers monthly and FGN Savings Bond offers each month. For Q4 2026, reported offers were ₦900 billion on 7 October, ₦450 billion on 14 October, no offer on 21 October and ₦800 billion on 28 October.

If you buy Nigerian government securities from abroad, timing matters. Money has to be in naira, with your bank, dealer or fund manager, before the bid deadline. Knowing the calendar lets you convert and send money once, at a time you choose, rather than rushing the day before.

Who publishes what

InstrumentWho runs itHow oftenWhere dates appear
Nigerian Treasury bills (91, 182, 364 days)CBN, on behalf of the DMOUsually weekly, per a quarterly programmeCBN quarterly issuance calendar and auction notices
FGN bondsDMOMonthly auctionsDMO offer circulars before each auction
FGN Savings Bonds (2 and 3 years)DMOOffered monthlyDMO website and subscription portal

The DMO subscription portal FAQ confirms Savings Bonds are offered monthly. Bond auctions in 2026 have followed a monthly pattern: the August offer, reported by NAN, auctioned on 17 August with settlement on 19 August, and Nairametrics reported results of an auction held on 19 October.

The Q4 2026 Treasury bill programme

Nairametrics' reading of the CBN's Q4 2026 calendar, published 14 October 2026, says auctions hold on Wednesdays with settlement on Thursdays. It reported:

  • 7 October: ₦900 billion offered.
  • 14 October: ₦450 billion (91-day ₦50 billion, 182-day ₦50 billion, 364-day ₦350 billion).
  • 21 October: no offer, with ₦392.79 billion maturing.
  • 28 October: ₦800 billion offered.
  • Q4 offers totalling about ₦5.40 trillion, with the 364-day bill making up about 76% of the total.

Calendars can change and the CBN calendar page is not always readable online, so confirm each auction with your dealer or bank the week before.

How bids work, and why most diaspora investors go through someone

A CBN notice for a July 2026 auction, reported by Nairametrics, described a Dutch auction with bids submitted through the CBN's S4 web interface between 8am and 11am, in multiples of ₦1,000, with a minimum of ₦50,001,000 for direct bids. Most individuals instead buy through a bank, a primary dealer or a money market fund, which pools orders. Each sets its own minimum, cut-off time and fees, so ask before you send money.

OMO bills: a separate calendar

Open market operation (OMO) bills are CBN instruments used to manage liquidity, not DMO borrowing, and they are auctioned on their own schedule. A CBN circular of 12 August 2026, reported by Blueprint, authorised individuals, corporates and non-bank financial institutions to buy OMO bills in the primary and secondary markets through deposit money banks, reversing a 2019 restriction. The report gave no minimum and did not mention foreign portfolio investors. If your bank offers OMO bills, ask for its own dates, minimum and charges, and do not confuse an OMO bill with a Treasury bill when comparing rates.

Planning from abroad

  1. Pick the auction date from the calendar and ask your bank or dealer for its cut-off, usually a day or more before.
  2. Convert and send naira early enough to clear before the cut-off.
  3. Decide whether you will bid at a set rate or accept the stop rate.
  4. Plan for maturity: decide in advance whether to roll over or receive the proceeds. See T-bill maturity proceeds abroad.

For the latest results see current T-bill rates. If you are buying through an app, read what you own when you buy Treasury bills through a fintech app. The Nigeria library explains how Treasury bill auctions work.

Where Pryme fits

Holding naira ready before an auction is simpler when your pounds, dollars or euros sit in the same multicurrency account; Swap shows the rate and fee before you approve.

Questions people ask

How often are T-bill auctions held in Nigeria?

Usually weekly on Wednesdays under the CBN's quarterly programme, with settlement on Thursdays, though some weeks have no offer, such as 21 October 2026.

Where can I find the FGN bond auction calendar?

The DMO publishes an offer circular before each monthly FGN bond auction. Savings Bonds are offered monthly on the DMO website and subscription portal.

What is the minimum to bid directly at a T-bill auction?

A July 2026 CBN notice reported by Nairametrics gave a minimum of ₦50,001,000 for direct bids. Banks, dealers and funds set lower minimums for their customers.

Can I buy T-bills from abroad?

Yes, usually through a Nigerian bank, primary dealer or money market fund that accepts clients abroad. Check its documents, cut-off times and fees first.
