Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Spain

Sending a SWIFT transfer from a Spanish bank to Nigeria

The details a Spanish bank needs to send to Nigeria by SWIFT, what BBVA lists as fees and timings, OUR, SHA and BEN, and where money gets lost.

The short answer

To send a SWIFT transfer from a Spanish bank to Nigeria you need the recipient's full name as their bank holds it, their account number, the bank's name and SWIFT (BIC) code, and a payment purpose. BBVA, for example, lists a €6 commission for sends up to €1,000 in foreign currency and €28 for sends in euros, with 1 to 5 days to arrive; intermediary banks may deduct further charges. The usual destination is a domiciliary account.

When a SWIFT transfer is the right route

A SWIFT transfer from your own bank suits larger sums, payments to a business or school that needs a bank-to-bank record, and money that should arrive as euros or dollars in a domiciliary account. For small regular sums in naira, remittance services are often cheaper; compare using the total cost. Remember that under CBN rules reported in 2026, remittance services pay out in naira, so a bank SWIFT payment is the usual way to deliver foreign currency.

The details your Spanish bank will ask for

FieldWhat to enterWhere it comes from
Beneficiary nameExactly as on the Nigerian accountThe recipient; GTBank asks for the name "as captured on BASIS", its core banking record
Account numberThe 10-digit NUBANThe recipient (no IBAN in Nigeria)
Bank name and SWIFT/BIC8 or 11 characters, e.g. GTBank's head office GTBINGLAXXXThe recipient's bank; check with them
Correspondent or intermediary detailsOnly if the bank provides themThe Nigerian bank's inward payment instructions
Purpose of paymente.g. family support, school feesYou; GTBank says inflows from individuals abroad must state a purpose
Charges optionOUR, SHA or BENYou choose, where the bank allows

BBVA's page says a BIC is needed to identify the receiving bank outside SEPA, that no IBAN is needed for non-SEPA countries, and that it is "very important" to make sure the account number is correct. Ask the recipient to get the SWIFT code and any correspondent instructions from their bank in writing rather than from a website list.

Fees: what one Spanish bank lists

BBVA's international transfers page, checked in October 2026, gives fixed commissions: €6 for sends up to €1,000 made in foreign currency, and €28 for sends in euros. It says fees depend on the currency and destination, that you see the full cost and any exchange rate before signing, and that money arrives in 1 to 5 days, with a cut-off time that can add a day. We did not open Santander's or CaixaBank's current tariff pages, so check their charge in the app or the bank's fee information before you confirm. Do not rely on a figure from a forum.

Steps

  1. Ask the recipient for their full account name, 10-digit account number, account currency and their bank's SWIFT code, ideally on a bank letter or screenshot from their banking app.
  2. In your Spanish bank's app or website, add a new international (non-SEPA) beneficiary. Expect a security confirmation, often by code or app approval.
  3. Choose the currency to send. If your account is in euros and you send euros, there is no conversion in Spain; if you send dollars, your bank converts and shows its rate.
  4. Enter the purpose of payment and choose the charges option if offered.
  5. Check the total cost and rate on the confirmation screen, then sign.
  6. Save the payment confirmation. If the money has not arrived after the stated time, ask your bank for the payment trace, which the recipient's bank can use to find it.

OUR, SHA and BEN

OUR
You pay all charges, including the receiving side's, so more of the amount should arrive
SHA
You pay your bank's charge; the recipient bears charges after that, including intermediaries'
BEN
The recipient bears all charges, deducted from the amount

These are the definitions in the SWIFT MT103 message standard's charges field. Not every bank offers all three on every channel. For more, see OUR, SHA and BEN for Nigeria.

Where SWIFT payments go wrong

  • Name mismatch between your instruction and the Nigerian bank's record: the payment can be held or returned.
  • Wrong account currency: euro sent to a naira account or to a dollar domiciliary account may be converted or rejected, depending on the bank.
  • Missing purpose: the receiving bank may hold the credit until it is supplied.
  • Returns: if a payment comes back, intermediary fees and exchange movements can mean less returns than you sent.

GTBank notes that foreign currency credits above $10,000 are reported to the NDLEA and CBN; that is reporting, not a block, but have the source of funds ready. The Ledger has a step-by-step guide to receiving money from abroad in Nigeria.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme account holds EUR with its own local details alongside NGN, so a family member or business can receive euro and keep it as euro, then convert with Swap when they choose; the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve. See multicurrency accounts. Outside Nigeria, Pryme's services are provided through regulated partners.
