We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.

You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Personal income tax goes to the state where you are resident. How that works between Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, and what to do when you move.
Your personal income tax goes to the revenue service of the state where you are resident: LIRS in Lagos, FCT-IRS in Abuja and RIRS in Rivers State. The Nigeria Tax Act 2025, in force from 1 January 2026, sets the rates and makes the first ₦800,000 of annual chargeable income tax-free, but collection stays with the state. If you move mid-year, tell your employer and both revenue services so you are not taxed twice.
Many people who move from Lagos to Abuja, or from Abuja to Port Harcourt, keep paying tax the old way until something goes wrong, usually when they need a tax clearance certificate for a visa, a contract or a loan. The cities have different revenue services, and knowing which one is yours avoids gaps and double payment.
Income tax on individuals is charged under federal law, but for most residents it is collected by the state. The deciding factor is where you are resident. As KPMG's commentary on itinerant workers explains, collection depends on the territory in which an individual is deemed resident, and the residence criteria carry over into the Nigeria Tax Act 2025. In plain terms:
For employees, your employer deducts PAYE and remits it to the revenue service of the state where you live. If your employer has offices in all three cities, it should remit to different states for different staff.
The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 took effect on 1 January 2026. Under it the first ₦800,000 of annual chargeable income falls in a 0% band, and employment income is exempt where a person earns the national minimum wage or less. The bands above that apply in every state, so a person on the same salary pays the same tax in Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt. Our guide to PAYE tax bands for 2026 works through the numbers, and rent relief explains a deduction many renters miss.
What did not change is which office you deal with. State levies, development levies and local charges still vary, and each revenue service runs its own portal, its own tax clearance process and its own requirements for self-assessment.
| Lagos | Abuja (FCT) | Port Harcourt | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue body | Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) | FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) | Rivers State Internal Revenue Service (RIRS) |
| Who it collects from | Lagos residents, including self-employed | Residents of the six FCT area councils | Rivers State residents |
| Personal income tax rates | National bands under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 | Same national bands | Same national bands |
| Local charges on top | State and local government levies | Area council levies, for example AMAC | State and local government levies |
Because portals and requirements change, use the revenue service's own website or office to confirm what to file and when.
This is where most problems start. A rough guide:
Where a worker splits time across several states, PITA has a specific definition of an itinerant worker, someone who works in more than one state for at least 20 days in at least three months of the year, and a state may give credit for tax already paid elsewhere, capped at the amount paid. If your work takes you back and forth between Lagos and Port Harcourt, ask a tax adviser how your case is treated.
Illustrative figures. Ngozi earns ₦6,000,000 a year and moves from Yaba to Gwarinpa on 1 July. Her total tax for the year is the same either way because the bands are national. What changes is the split: January to June should go to LIRS and July to December to FCT-IRS. If her employer keeps remitting to Lagos all year, Abuja has no record of her, and she may struggle to get an FCT tax clearance certificate later. Fixing it in month one is far easier than in month thirteen.
Self-employed people need clean records to file self-assessment in a new state. A Pryme account keeps income and spending in one place, and you can generate verifiable statements, issued with VerifyDoc.ai, when a revenue office or lender asks for proof. Our guide to tax for sole proprietors covers what to file.
Personal income tax follows residence, so as an Abuja resident your PAYE should go to FCT-IRS, even if your employer is registered in Lagos.
Personal income tax rates are national, so the same income attracts the same income tax. Other state and local levies can differ.
RIRS is the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service, which collects personal income tax and state revenues from Rivers State residents, including Port Harcourt.
Apply to FCT-IRS. Have payslips or self-assessment records for the period you have lived in the FCT, and evidence of tax paid to your previous state for the rest of the year.
