Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to pause or cancel a Starlink subscription in Nigeria

What pausing and cancelling Starlink involve, the Standby Mode that replaced free pause on Roam, the risk of losing your place in a busy area, and the kit.

The short answer

Starlink subscriptions are managed in your Starlink account, and SatelliteInternet.com reported in August 2025 that cancellation could not be done in the Starlink app. Starlink replaced free pausing on Roam with a paid Standby Mode, and is extending it to Residential; in congested parts of Lagos and Abuja, stopping a Residential plan may mean losing your place, since new residential orders there have been waitlisted.

People stop Starlink for ordinary reasons: travel, moving house, a fibre line arriving, or money being tight for a few months. Before you stop, it helps to know the difference between pausing and cancelling, what each costs, and what happens to a kit that cost several hundred thousand naira. Starlink sets its terms globally and changes them, so this guide explains the options and tells you exactly where to confirm the current rule for your account.

Pause, Standby or cancel: the difference

Pause (old)
Starlink used to let Roam customers pause service free of charge, according to the same report.
Standby Mode
According to SatelliteInternet.com (13 August 2025), Starlink replaced free pause on Roam plans with Standby Mode, priced at US$5 a month in the markets reported, which keeps an unlimited low-speed connection of 500 Kbps. The same report says Standby was being added to Residential plans.
Cancel
Ends the subscription and the service stops. The reports reviewed do not say a bought kit must be returned; check your order terms.

The Lagos and Abuja problem: losing your place

This is the point most guides miss. TechCabal reported in November 2025 that new residential orders were paused or waitlisted in Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Surulere, Lekki and parts of Abuja because the network was full there. The August 2025 Standby report says a Residential account on Standby may not keep its spot in its location if the area becomes congested.

In practice, if you live in one of these areas and cancel, getting Residential service back may not be possible quickly. Business plans reopened in congested cities in February 2026 at about ₦159,000 a month, according to TechCabal, which is far above the ₦57,000 Residential price TechCabal reported in November 2025. Think about this before stopping a plan you might want again.

Worked example

Example only. You will be away for three months. If you keep Residential at ₦57,000 a month, it costs ₦171,000. If you cancel and cannot rejoin Residential in your area, and move to Business at ₦159,000 a month, the first three months back cost ₦477,000, which is ₦306,000 more than keeping Residential for the next three months at ₦171,000. Using Standby, where offered, costs less than either but keeps only a slow connection. Use current prices from your account to redo this sum.

How to stop or change your subscription

  1. Log in to your Starlink account on Starlink's website. The August 2025 report says cancelling could not be done through the Starlink app.
  2. Open your subscription or plan settings and review the options shown for your plan: changing plan, Standby where available, or cancelling.
  3. Read the confirmation screen for the date the change takes effect and any charge.
  4. Confirm, and save the confirmation email.
  5. If you cannot find the option, open a support ticket from your account and keep the reference.

Check your billing date first. A change made just after a bill has been taken may not refund that month; the account shows how it treats the current period.

What happens to the kit

  • Cancelling ends the service. The sources reviewed do not describe any requirement to return a kit you bought; your order terms are the final word.
  • The kit stays linked to your account until it is transferred. If you plan to sell it, complete the transfer to the buyer properly. TechCabal warns that used kits sold in Nigeria carry transfer risk for buyers, so a clean transfer makes a kit easier to sell.
  • Keep the kit dry and stored with its cables if you may use it again.
  • Check Starlink's terms for your order on any return window for new kits; the reports reviewed here do not state a Nigerian return policy.

Stopping payments safely

Cancelling the subscription in your account is the clean way to stop charges. Removing a card or letting a payment fail may not cancel the subscription, and could leave a balance owing. After cancelling, watch your next statement to confirm no further charge is taken, and query any unexpected one with Starlink support first, then your bank. Our guide to finding and cancelling forgotten subscriptions covers how to spot recurring charges.

Before you decide

  1. Will you want Starlink again, and is your area waitlisted for new residential orders?
  2. Is Standby offered on your plan, and at what naira price?
  3. Is there an alternative, such as fibre, now? See Starlink versus fibre or 4G.
  4. Are you selling the kit? Plan the account transfer.

Where Pryme fits

If you pause spending on Starlink to save toward something else, a Flexible Savings Box keeps that money separate in naira (Savings Boxes). A Personal Assistant can remind you of a billing date so a change is made before the next charge, and it acts only with your approval (Personal Assistant).

Questions people ask

Can I pause Starlink in Nigeria?

Starlink replaced free pausing on Roam with a paid Standby Mode in 2025 and was extending it to Residential, according to SatelliteInternet.com. Your Starlink account shows which options and naira prices apply to your plan.

How do I cancel Starlink?

Log in to your Starlink account on the website and use the subscription settings, or open a support ticket. SatelliteInternet.com reported in August 2025 that cancellation could not be done in the app.

Do I return the Starlink kit when I cancel?

The reports reviewed do not describe returning a kit you bought; check your order terms. If you sell it, transfer it properly to the buyer's account. Check your order terms for any return window on new kits.

Will I lose my Starlink spot if I cancel?

In congested areas you may. TechCabal reported new residential orders were waitlisted in parts of Lagos and Abuja, and Standby accounts may not keep their spot if an area becomes congested.
