Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

StarTimes error codes and 'no signal': fixes

StarTimes showing no signal or an error after payment? How to tell signal from subscription problems and the restart, rescan and dish checks to try.

The short answer

Most StarTimes screen errors fall into two groups: no signal, which is a reception problem with the antenna or dish, and subscription or card errors, which usually clear once the decoder is left on a channel, restarted and, if needed, rescanned after payment. Write down the exact code, check your smartcard number and payment, and contact StarTimes through the official app if the steps below do not work.

A StarTimes error on the screen tells you which part of the chain has failed: the signal reaching your decoder, the smartcard inside it, or the subscription linked to that card. Knowing which one you are dealing with saves time, because the fixes are different. This guide explains how to tell them apart and what to try, in order, before calling.

First, antenna or dish?

StarTimes sells bouquets on two platforms: DTT, received through a terrestrial antenna, and DTH, received through a satellite dish. VTpass's September 2025 StarTimes list prices bouquets separately for each. Reception problems look similar on screen but the fixes differ, so check which one you have before climbing onto the roof.

Is it signal or subscription?

What you seeLikely causeStart with
No signal or weak signal on every channelReception: antenna, dish, cable or weatherCable and aerial checks, then a rescan
Message asking you to subscribe or renew, right after payingThe decoder has not yet received the authorisationLeave it on, restart, wait
Message about the smartcard not being readCard not seated or dirtyRemove and reinsert the card
Some channels work, others show an errorBouquet does not include them, or partial authorisationCheck your bouquet, then restart
Picture freezes or breaks upWeak or interrupted signalCheck connections and weather

Fixes for subscription and card errors

  1. Confirm the payment reached the right account. Compare the smartcard number on your receipt with the number on the card or decoder information screen.
  2. Leave the decoder on and tuned to a channel for several minutes. Authorisation is sent over the air and a decoder in standby can miss it.
  3. Restart the decoder at the wall, wait, then switch on and go to a channel in your bouquet.
  4. Reinsert the smartcard with the decoder off, chip facing the right way, and switch on again.
  5. Check the channel is in your bouquet. If you changed bouquets, some channels you watched before may no longer be included. StarTimes packages explains the tiers.
  6. Use StarTimes self-service in the official app to check account status, then contact StarTimes with your reference if the error remains.

VTpass gives similar advice in its GOtv guide: if a renewal does not come through, rescanning or restarting the decoder will typically solve it. The same principle applies to most pay-TV decoders.

Fixes for 'no signal'

Antenna (DTT)

  • Check that the antenna cable is pushed firmly into the decoder's aerial input and is not cut or crushed.
  • If the antenna is indoors, move it near a window and higher up, away from metal and other electronics.
  • If an outdoor aerial was moved by wind or work on the roof, it may need re-pointing.
  • Run a channel scan from the decoder menu after any change.

Dish (DTH)

  • Look at the dish for anything blocking it: new building work, trees, a bent arm or a loose bracket.
  • Heavy rain can interrupt satellite signal for a while; if it returns when the weather clears, the setup is probably fine.
  • Check the cable connectors at the dish and the decoder for water or corrosion.
  • If the dish has moved, re-alignment is a job for a trained installer.

If nothing changes after a rescan, the decoder or cabling may be faulty and an authorised StarTimes technician or office can test it. Our StarTimes customer care guide explains how to find a contact you can trust.

What to write down before you call

  • The exact error code and message, or a photo of the screen
  • Your smartcard number and whether you use DTT or DTH
  • Your bouquet and the date and reference of your last payment
  • What you have already tried, so the agent can skip those steps

Things that rarely help

Paying a second time in the hope of forcing the subscription through may simply add time to your account, or leave you chasing a duplicate payment. Repeatedly unplugging the decoder every few seconds can also stop it completing a scan. Give each step a few minutes before moving to the next, and contact StarTimes once you have worked through the list.

If the issue started right after a payment by bank USSD or app, see paying StarTimes by bank USSD and apps to check the route you used.

Where Pryme fits

If you renew through TV bills in the Pryme app, the receipt shows the smartcard number and amount, which are the first two things to check when an error appears. Bills sit alongside airtime and data in the same app.

Questions people ask

Why is my StarTimes showing no signal?

No signal is a reception problem: a loose or damaged cable, a moved antenna or dish, an obstruction or bad weather. Check connections, reposition an indoor antenna, then run a channel scan.

I paid StarTimes but it is still showing error. What should I do?

Leave the decoder on a channel for a few minutes, restart it at the wall, and check the smartcard number on your receipt. If the error remains, contact StarTimes with the payment reference.

How do I rescan StarTimes channels?

Use the channel search or scan option in the decoder's settings menu. The exact menu names vary by decoder model, so follow what your screen shows.

What do StarTimes error codes mean?

We could not confirm an official list of StarTimes Nigeria error codes. Note the exact code and quote it to StarTimes; the table above helps you tell signal problems from subscription problems.
