Ten years, one trunk

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

Standard Chartered Nigeria transfer limits and charges

What Standard Chartered Nigeria charges for transfers, bills, ATMs and cash, and what it does and does not publish about daily transfer limits.

The short answer

Standard Chartered Nigeria's June 2026 fee guide lists interbank transfers on its digital channels at no charge, bill payments at ₦100 and SMS alerts free, with outward foreign transfers at $25 plus 0.5% commission. The bank does not publish daily transfer limits; it says upgrading an Instant Account raises them, so the current limit for your account is shown in SC Mobile or given by the contact centre.

Two questions sit behind this search: how much can I send, and what will it cost? The bank answers the second clearly in its "Service Fees and Price Guide – June 2026". The first it leaves to your account type and app settings. Here is what is published, and how to find what is not. All figures below come from that guide unless we say otherwise, and fees can change, so check the current version on the bank's download centre before a large payment.

Charges on everyday transactions

TransactionCharge (June 2026)Note
Interbank transfer (digital banking)No chargeThe SC Mobile listing also says inter-bank local transfers are free
Bill payment₦100Digital banking
SMS transaction alertNo charge
Hard or soft tokenNo chargeIncluding hard token replacement
Outward foreign (SWIFT) transfer$25 cost recovery plus 0.5% commissionPlus offshore charges where applicable
Standard Chartered ATM withdrawalNo charge
Other banks' ATMs in Nigeria₦100 for amounts of ₦20,000 and belowPlus up to ₦500 surcharge off bank premises
Debit card PIN resetNo charge

One inconsistency to know: the SC Mobile App Store listing advertises "zero cash withdrawal charge on any 3rd party ATM in Nigeria", while the June 2026 fee guide lists the ₦100 fee and off-site surcharge. If you are charged, raise it with the bank and quote both.

Cash withdrawal and deposit processing fees

The fee guide includes a cashless policy table. For individuals it shows a weekly withdrawal threshold of "Above N500,000" with a 3% processing fee; for corporate accounts, above ₦5,000,000 with a 5% fee. No processing fee is listed for lodgements.

Example only: an individual withdrawing ₦700,000 in cash in one week. The guide does not say whether the 3% falls on the whole sum or only the part above ₦500,000, so here are both readings:

ReadingAmount charged onFee at 3%
On the excess only₦200,000₦6,000
On the whole withdrawal₦700,000₦21,000

Ask the bank which applies before you plan a large cash withdrawal, or use a transfer instead.

Transfer limits: what is and is not published

The bank's banking page says only that you can "upgrade your Instant account" to "enjoy higher transaction limits", moving to Instant Plus, Regular Savings or a Salary Account. It gives no naira figures for any tier. The CBN's know-your-customer tiers explain why: accounts opened with minimal information carry lower caps until full documents are supplied; see KYC tier limits and the CBN rules on bank transfer limits.

How to find your own limit

  1. In SC Mobile, open the transfer or settings menu; banks usually show your daily limit there.
  2. If you need more, upgrade from an Instant account in the app.
  3. For a one-off higher amount, ask through secure mail or call 0201 270 4611–4 or toll-free 0800 123 5000.
  4. Business clients on Straight2Bank should agree limits with the bank on 0201 236 8220–4 or straight2bank.ng@sc.com.

Savings accounts: the four-withdrawal rule

Transfers out of a savings account count as withdrawals. The June 2026 fee guide says savings accounts forfeit their credit interest for any month with more than four withdrawals. If you pay bills or send money several times a month, do it from a current account or keep the savings account for saving only. Example only: paying four bills a month through the app at ₦100 each costs ₦400 in bill-payment fees; a fifth withdrawal from savings in that month would also cost you that month's interest.

Card spending limits

Card limits are separate from transfer limits. The bank's contactless FAQ sets a contactless limit of ₦10,000 a day, which you can lower but not raise, with up to 10 tap payments a day and a PIN needed above ₦1,000. Limits for chip-and-PIN, online and international card use are not published; see our dollar card guide for foreign spending fees.

USSD (*977#)

The *977# service is for individual account holders only; joint and corporate accounts cannot use it. You register with your 10-digit naira account number, BVN and date of birth and set a 6-digit transaction PIN. The bank does not publish separate USSD transfer limits on the page we read. Keep amounts modest on USSD and read our guide to USSD banking fraud.

Where Pryme fits

With Pryme, the charge for any transfer is shown before you confirm, and a Swap between currencies shows the rate first and the fee on its own line before you approve. Security uses an authenticator app rather than SMS codes, plus a transaction PIN.

What to check first

  • Which account type you hold: Instant, Instant Plus, Regular Savings, Salary or Current.
  • Whether a fee you were charged appears in the June 2026 guide on the bank's download centre.
  • For a failed transfer, keep the session ID and see customer care and escalation.

Questions people ask

How much does Standard Chartered charge for ATM withdrawals at other banks?
