Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Personal Assistant

How to set up the Pryme Personal Assistant

A step-by-step guide to setting up your Pryme Personal Assistant: what you need first, the three choices you make, and your first instructions.

The short answer

Every Pryme Personal Account customer can set up a Personal Assistant Agent inside the app. You choose its gender, its voice and its name (it is called Eva unless you pick another name), then speak to it and give it instructions. It prepares bills, savings, reminders and transfers, and nothing moves until you approve it.

What you need before you start

The Personal Assistant is part of the Pryme Personal Account, so the first step is having one. You can open a Personal Account from any country, and the same account holds naira, US dollars, pounds and euros. If you already bank with Pryme, you have what you need.

Before setting up an assistant that will prepare payments for you, take ten minutes to get the basics in order. These are not Pryme requirements; they are simply good habits for anyone who manages money on a phone.

  • A phone you control. Use your own device with a screen lock, not a shared family phone.
  • An up-to-date app. Install updates when they arrive so you have the latest version of the assistant.
  • A quiet moment. You will be choosing a voice and speaking to the assistant for the first time, so do it somewhere you can hear clearly.
  • A short list of what you want help with. For example: the electricity token every fortnight, a monthly transfer to your mother, and a savings habit.

If you are new to managing money through an app, our guide is your money safe in a Nigerian fintech? explains how to check who actually holds your deposits. It is worth knowing before you hand any tool, human or digital, a role in your finances.

Why a list helps

Writing down three or four regular money tasks before you start gives you something concrete to say in your first conversation. It also tells you, after a week, whether the assistant is saving you time. If the electricity reminder fired on the right day and the transfer to your mother went out with the right name and amount, it is doing its job. If not, you will know exactly which instruction to give more clearly.

The three choices you make

Setting up the assistant comes down to three personal choices. None of them changes what the assistant can do; they change how it feels to work with.

ChoiceWhat it meansTip
GenderWhether your assistant presents as male or femalePick whichever you find easier to talk to every day
VoiceHow it sounds when it speaks to youListen in a quiet room and choose the one you can follow clearly at normal speed
NameWhat you call it, and what it answers toEva is the default; a short name with two syllables is easy to say

We go through these choices in depth in choosing your assistant's name, voice and gender. The short version: choose for clarity first and personality second.

Step by step: from first open to first task

The app guides you through set-up, so you do not need to hunt for settings. In outline, the process looks like this:

  1. Open the Pryme app and sign in to your Personal Account.
  2. Follow the prompts to set up your Personal Assistant.
  3. Choose its gender.
  4. Choose its voice. Play each option and pick the one you hear most clearly.
  5. Choose its name, or keep the default, Eva.
  6. Speak to it. Start with something simple, such as asking it to remind you about a bill.
  7. Review what it prepares and approve or decline.

Good first instructions to try

The first few instructions set the tone. Start with tasks where a mistake would be easy to spot and cheap to fix, then build up.

  • "Remind me to buy electricity every second Friday."
  • "Prepare a ₦5,000 airtime top-up for my number."
  • "Help me move ₦10,000 into savings at the end of the month."
  • "Get a transfer ready for ₦20,000 to my sister and show me before sending."

All amounts above are examples. Notice the pattern: one task per instruction, a clear amount, a clear person or bill, and a clear time. Our guide to giving a money assistant clear instructions explains why this matters.

Worked example: Funmi's first evening

Example only. Funmi, a nurse in Ibadan, sets up her assistant after a night shift. She keeps the name Eva, chooses a calm voice, and asks for three things: a reminder for her prepaid meter, a ₦15,000 transfer to her younger brother for his transport, and ₦8,000 into savings. Eva prepares the transfer and the savings move and sets the reminder. Funmi checks her brother's name on the transfer screen, approves it, and decides to leave the savings move for payday. Nothing she did not approve went anywhere.

What happens after set-up

Once the assistant is set up, you can speak to it whenever you need it. Over the first week, most people settle into a pattern: a quick check in the morning, payments prepared when bills fall due, and savings moved on payday. Our guide to your first week with the Personal Assistant suggests a day-by-day plan.

If something does not look right at any point, decline it. Declining costs nothing and you can always ask again with clearer details. A good rule for the first month is to read every prepared item in full, even small ones, so you learn how the assistant presents amounts, names and dates. Once you know what a correct item looks like, a wrong one stands out quickly.

It also helps to keep your instructions consistent. If you always refer to your mother as "Mummy" and your landlord by his surname, say it the same way each time. Predictable instructions lead to predictable preparation, which makes checking faster.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme Financial Ltd is a technology company, not a bank. Naira deposits in your Pryme account are held by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Ltd, which is licensed by the CBN and insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit. The Personal Assistant is included with every Personal Account; read more about how Pryme works.

Questions people ask

How do I set up the Pryme assistant?

Open the Pryme app, sign in to your Personal Account and follow the prompts. You choose a gender, a voice and a name (Eva by default), then you can start speaking to it.

Do I need a Pryme account to use the Personal Assistant?

Yes. The Personal Assistant is part of the Pryme Personal Account. You can open one from any country.

Can the Pryme assistant send money on its own?

No. It prepares transfers, bill payments and savings moves, but nothing moves until you approve it.

What should I ask my assistant first?

Start with low-risk tasks: a bill reminder, a small airtime top-up or a small savings move. Check what it prepares, then approve or decline.
