Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Rates

Sending money from Dubai to Nigeria: rate and routes

Exchange houses, apps and bank wires from the UAE to Nigeria: which rate each uses, how to compare quotes and the May 2026 naira payout rule.

The short answer

From the UAE you can send money to Nigeria through an exchange house, a money transfer app or a bank wire; each converts dirham at its own rate, usually via the dollar, and may add a fee. Since 1 May 2026, as reported, the CBN requires remittances through money transfer operators to be paid out in naira, so compare the naira that will arrive, not the headline rate.

The three main routes

RouteWho sets the rateHow it lands in Nigeria
UAE exchange house (counter or app)The exchange house, at the time you sendNaira to a bank account or cash pickup
International money transfer appThe app's operator, shown before you confirmNaira to a bank account
Bank wire from a UAE bankThe sending bank if it converts; otherwise the receiving bankDepends on the account and currency; ask the receiving bank

Exchange houses and apps working with Nigeria are money transfer operators that pay out through Nigerian partner banks. In March 2026 the CBN directed these operators to open naira settlement accounts with authorised dealer banks and said recipients would be paid in naira from 1 May 2026, whatever currency was sent. See the naira-only payout rule for detail.

Which rate each uses

Because the dirham is pegged at 3.6725 to the US dollar, a provider's dirham-to-naira rate is in effect its dollar-to-naira rate divided by 3.6725, less its margin. Providers usually anchor their naira rate to the official NFEM market, but each sets its own margin, and some add a fixed fee in dirham. Reports in March 2026 said the CBN had not yet given detailed guidance on how conversion rates for naira payouts would be set, so the quote shown at the moment of sending is the figure that counts.

Worked example (illustrative figures)

StepFigure
Amount sentAED 2,000
Dollar value at the pegabout $544.59
Naira at an example reference of ₦1,500 per dollarabout ₦816,882
Provider A: rate 1.5% below reference, no feeabout ₦804,629
Provider B: rate 1% below reference, AED 15 feeAED 1,985 converted, about ₦802,648

Provider B shows the better rate but delivers less because of the fee. On a larger amount the fixed fee matters less and B could win. Always compare the naira that will arrive.

How to compare quotes

  1. Enter the same dirham amount with each provider.
  2. Note the naira the recipient will receive after all fees.
  3. Divide naira received by dirham paid to get the effective rate.
  4. Check the reference: today's dollar rate ÷ 3.6725. The gap is your total cost.
  5. Check delivery time and whether the recipient's bank is supported.

Paying for the recipient's needs directly

If the money is for a specific bill in Nigeria, such as school fees or rent, sending it straight to the recipient's account and letting them pay is usually simplest. Some senders prefer to pay the school or landlord directly so the money is used as intended. Either way, the naira-only payout rule applies to transfers through money transfer operators, so the payee receives naira. Keep the transfer receipt as proof of payment; it is the record you will need if anything is disputed.

Safety points

  • Use a licensed exchange house or a regulated app; avoid informal hawala-style arrangements with no receipt.
  • Confirm the recipient's account name before sending; transfers to the wrong account are hard to reverse.
  • Be wary of anyone asking you to send money urgently to a new account; see remittance scams.

For the receiving side, see CBN rules on remittances and dirham to naira rate today.

Questions people ask

What is the best way to send money from Dubai to Nigeria?

Compare a licensed exchange house, a transfer app and your bank for the same amount, and choose the one that delivers the most naira after fees in the time you need.

Can I send dollars from Dubai to Nigeria?

You can pay in dirham or dollars, but transfers through money transfer operators are paid out in naira in Nigeria from 1 May 2026, as reported.

Why is the dirham to naira transfer rate lower than the market rate?

Providers keep a margin between the rate they get and the rate they give you, and may add a fee. Divide the dollar rate by 3.6725 to see the reference.

How long does a transfer from UAE to Nigeria take?

It depends on the provider and the receiving bank. Each provider shows its expected delivery time before you confirm.
