Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Private school fees in Jos: what parents pay per term

Example fee ranges for private schools in Jos by tier, the extras on top of tuition, boarding costs, and a three-term plan so fees never catch you short.

The short answer

Private school fees in Jos vary widely, from low-cost neighbourhood schools to boarding and international-curriculum schools, and no official body publishes them. The ranges here are labelled examples for planning, not quotes. Budget for the full year, not just tuition: first-term bills usually carry extras such as uniforms, books and development levies, and boarding adds feeding and accommodation.

For most parents in Jos, school fees are the biggest bill of the year after rent. The headline tuition is only part of it. This guide gives example ranges by type of school, lists the extras to ask about, and shows how to spread the cost across three terms.

Why fees in Jos vary so much

  • Curriculum. Schools teaching only the Nigerian curriculum usually cost less than those adding British or American programmes.
  • Facilities. Laboratories, ICT rooms, buses and generators all feed into fees.
  • Teacher pay and class size. Smaller classes and qualified staff cost more.
  • Boarding. Feeding, housing and supervision often double the bill.
  • Location. Schools in low-density areas such as Rayfield tend to charge more than those in busy neighbourhoods.

Example fee ranges by tier

We found no official or survey data on private school fees in Jos in October 2026. The table below is an illustrative example of how tiers compare, to help you plan. Get the current fee schedule in writing from each school you consider.

Tier (example only)Tuition per term, day pupilTypical extras
Low-cost neighbourhood school₦20,000–₦60,000Uniform, books, exam fees
Mid-range private school₦80,000–₦200,000Uniform, books, ICT, PTA, development levy
Premium day school₦250,000–₦600,000Bus, clubs, excursions, devices
Boarding (secondary)₦350,000–₦900,000 including boardingProvisions, bedding, visiting-day costs

The extras that inflate the first-term bill

Ask each school for a full list of charges, not just tuition. Common items include:

  • Admission or registration form and entrance exam fee (new pupils).
  • Uniforms, sportswear and sweaters; Jos mornings in Harmattan are cold, so schools often ask for a cardigan or jacket.
  • Textbooks and exercise books.
  • Development, PTA, ICT and examination levies.
  • School bus, if you use it.
  • For boarders: provisions, bedding, toiletries and pocket money.

Our guide to back-to-school costs lists these in detail.

Worked example: a three-term plan

Example only. A family in Jenta has two children at a mid-range school. Tuition is ₦120,000 per child per term. The first term also carries ₦60,000 per child in uniforms, books and levies. They use the school bus at ₦30,000 per child per term.

TermCalculationTotal
First term2 × (₦120,000 + ₦60,000 + ₦30,000)₦420,000
Second term2 × (₦120,000 + ₦30,000)₦300,000
Third term2 × (₦120,000 + ₦30,000)₦300,000
Year₦420,000 + ₦300,000 + ₦300,000₦1,020,000

Spread over 12 months, that is ₦85,000 a month. Saving that amount monthly, starting in September, means each term's bill is covered before it arrives, with the heavier first term funded by the summer months.

How this compares with earnings

Plateau State approved the ₦70,000 minimum wage for its civil servants in November 2024. A household with one earner on that wage would struggle with the example above, which is why many Jos families choose lower-cost schools or ask about instalments. For transport, the National Bureau of Statistics put the average city bus fare at ₦1,431.25 per trip in May 2026, nationally; two school runs a day add up quickly if you do not use the school bus.

Choosing a school without overstretching

Fees are only one test. A school that is slightly cheaper but far from home can cost more once daily transport is counted, and a school that raises fees sharply every session can push you out midway through primary or secondary. Before you enrol, ask current parents how much fees have risen over the last two or three sessions, and whether the school often adds mid-term levies.

  • Visit during school hours and look at class sizes and facilities.
  • Ask how the school communicates fee changes and how much notice it gives.
  • Check whether WAEC, NECO or other external exam fees are included or billed separately in the final years.
  • Ask whether the school bus covers your area and what it costs per term.

If you have more than one child, a sibling discount or a school with a lower tier for the younger child can make a large difference over several years. Our article on how schools set fees explains what drives a school's pricing from the proprietor's side.

What to check first

  1. Ask for the full fee schedule for the year, including all levies.
  2. Ask whether instalments are allowed and whether there is a discount for paying the year upfront or for siblings.
  3. Check what is refundable if your child leaves mid-session.
  4. Pay by transfer to the school's official account and keep receipts.

See paying school fees in instalments and saving for school fees term by term.

Where Pryme fits

A Naira Savings Box can hold monthly school-fee savings until each term, with the rate shown in the app. The Personal Assistant can remind you before fees are due; it prepares, and nothing is paid without your approval.

Questions people ask

How much is school fees in Jos private schools?

No official figures exist. As a planning example, day tuition may range from about ₦20,000 a term at low-cost schools to over ₦250,000 at premium schools; ask each school for its schedule.

How much is boarding school in Jos?

Boarding adds feeding and accommodation. As an example only, secondary boarding may cost ₦350,000 to ₦900,000 a term including boarding; confirm with the school.

Which term has the highest school fees?

Usually the first term, because uniforms, books, levies and new-session increases fall then.

Can I pay school fees in instalments in Jos?

Some schools allow it. Ask in writing before the term starts and agree the dates.
