Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ria Money Transfer to Nigeria: how to receive

How to receive a Ria transfer in Nigeria: bank deposit or naira cash pickup, the ID and PIN you need, the partner banks named and the naira rule.

The short answer

You can receive a Ria transfer in Nigeria straight into a bank account, or as naira cash at one of over 4,000 Ria partner locations, according to Ria's own page. For cash you need a government-issued photo ID and the transfer PIN, and your name must match the ID. Payment is in naira under CBN rules.

Two ways the money reaches you

Ria Money Transfer pays transfers in Nigeria in two ways, according to its US "Send money to Nigeria" page, checked in October 2026: straight into a Nigerian bank account, or as cash for collection. The page says recipients can "pick up naira at over 4,000 trusted Ria partner locations". It does not list a mobile wallet option for Nigeria.

For bank deposit, the page names First Bank, Access Bank, UBA and Guaranty Trust Bank, and shows partner logos that also include Polaris Bank, Keystone Bank, Fidelity Bank, FCMB and Ecobank, followed by "and much more". Cash pickup happens through Ria's partner locations; the page does not publish a branch list, so the sender should tell you which payout partner they chose.

MethodHow you get itWhat you need
Bank depositCredited to your account; you get the usual alertNothing at a counter; the sender needs your exact name, bank and account number
Cash pickupNaira at a Ria partner locationGovernment-issued photo ID and the transfer PIN

What the receiver needs for cash pickup

Ria's page says the recipient should "show up with your government-issued photo ID as proof of your identity and the transfer PIN". It also says the recipient's name on the transfer must match the ID, and that the sender provides the recipient's city and province (state) of residence.

  1. Get the transfer PIN from the sender. Keep it private: anyone with the PIN and a forged ID could try to collect.
  2. Confirm with the sender the name they typed, the amount and the payout partner.
  3. Take a valid photo ID. Western Union and Zenith Bank both list the international passport, driver's licence, voter's card and national ID card for remittance collection; ask the payout partner which it accepts.
  4. At the counter, give the PIN and sender details, and show your ID.
  5. Count the naira before you leave and keep the slip.

Ria tracks a transfer by its PIN or order number, so the sender can check the status online if you are told it is not ready.

Why it is paid in naira, and the cash ceiling

Ria's page quotes all amounts in naira and refers to collecting naira. That reflects CBN policy. In February 2024 TheCable reported a CBN circular, relayed in an Access Bank notice, saying all IMTO transfers would be received only in naira, either into the beneficiary's bank account or in cash, with transfers above the equivalent of $200 going to a bank account. Techeconomy's explainer of 28 March 2026 describes a later CBN circular, effective 1 May 2026, that reinforced naira-only payout and kept the bank-account route for larger sums. If your relative is sending more than a small amount, a bank deposit is the practical choice. RIA Financials appears on the CBN's list of licensed IMTOs (checked October 2026).

Limits, fees and speed, from the sender's side

  • Amount: the US page asks for an amount between 1 and 14,999.99 USD per transfer. Other countries set their own limits.
  • Fee: the page advertises a $0 fee on a first transfer with a promotional code, subject to terms. It gives no standard fee table; the fee appears before the sender pays.
  • Speed: the page says money "could" arrive "in as little as 15 minutes", that card payments usually arrive within minutes, and that paying by bank transfer "usually takes three to five business days" with fewer fees.
  • Rate: the page shows a promotional first-transfer rate alongside a lower standard figure, so the second transfer may deliver less naira for the same dollars.

Worked example, with made-up figures: a sender pays $200 by card at an assumed ₦1,400 to the dollar; you receive 200 × 1,400 = ₦280,000 within minutes. If they pay by bank transfer to save a small fee, the same ₦280,000 might take three to five business days. For school fees due tomorrow, the card is worth the extra cost.

When something goes wrong

  • "Name does not match": the sender asks Ria to correct the recipient name.
  • "Transfer not available": it may still be in progress, especially if bank-funded. Check status with the PIN.
  • Someone calls asking for the PIN or a fee to release the money: treat it as a scam. See money transfer scams.

More help: cash pickup in Nigeria and money sent but not received.

Where Pryme fits

If you would like a record that you received or paid on the money, Pryme customers can generate a verifiable receipt with VerifyDoc.ai, which anyone can check is genuine and unaltered; see verifiable receipts.
