Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ireland

Remitly first transfer from Ireland: ID checks to expect

What Remitly checks on a first transfer from Ireland to Nigeria: ID, address, and the questions about money and purpose that can follow as limits rise.

The short answer

On a first Remitly transfer from Ireland, expect to confirm your name, date of birth and address and, often, to upload a photo ID such as your passport or Irish Residence Permit card. Remitly's own pages say limits depend on your verification level and that it may ask for more, such as a utility bill, bank statements, payslips, your occupation, source of income and reason for sending, as amounts grow.

Remitly is widely used for euro to naira, and its first-transfer offer draws many new customers. The first transfer is also when Remitly learns who you are, so it is the one most likely to pause for checks. Knowing what is asked, and having it ready, is the difference between money arriving today and money arriving next week.

What Remitly says it may ask for

Remitly does not publish a separate Ireland checklist on the pages we could open in October 2026, so this section uses its own pages for other sending countries, which describe the same approach. Remitly's sending-limits page (August 2026) lists what it may request:

  • Full name, date of birth and residential address.
  • A government-issued photo ID, such as a passport.
  • A national tax or identity number where that country uses one (in the US it lists SSN or ITIN; Ireland's equivalent would be your PPS number, if asked).
  • A utility bill as proof of address.
  • Bank statements or payslips.
  • Your occupation, source of income and reason for sending.

The same page says personal limits depend on verification level, payment method, destination and history. Remitly's UK Nigeria page adds that limits vary by sending location and ID verification and that "additional documentation may be requested". The exact request on your first Irish transfer appears in the app.

Which documents to have ready in Ireland

What is checkedGood documents to have
IdentityValid passport; Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card; Irish driving licence
AddressUtility bill or bank statement in your name at your current Irish address, recent (WorldRemit, for comparison, asks for no more than six months old)
Money and purposeRecent payslip, P60 or employment detail summary, savings statement

Your IRP card is often the most useful single document because it is issued in Ireland and ties you to an Irish address. Some services set rules on where documents are issued: WorldRemit's Ireland FAQ, for example, says documents must be issued or certified by authorities within Ireland. Remitly may apply its own rules; follow what the app asks.

How the first transfer usually runs

  1. Sign up with your Irish mobile and email and enter your details exactly as on your ID.
  2. Add the recipient: name as on their Nigerian bank account, the bank and the 10-digit account number, or mobile wallet details.
  3. Choose how to pay. Remitly's UK page lists debit and credit cards, Apple Pay (EU, UK and Singapore) and "Easy Bank Transfers" for the UK and EEA.
  4. Upload your ID and take a selfie if prompted.
  5. If the transfer pauses, check the app and your email for a request and answer it the same day.

Worked example

Example only. Ada, a nurse in Galway, sends €200 on her first Remitly transfer with her passport. It goes through after an ID upload. A month later she sends €2,500 for her father's surgery and Remitly asks for her source of funds. She uploads two payslips and a hospital invoice from Ibadan, and the transfer is released. Had she sent the €2,500 first, both steps would likely have come at once.

Common reasons a first transfer stalls

  • Name on the profile differs from the passport, for example a missing middle name or a married name.
  • A blurred, cropped or expired ID photo.
  • A card in someone else's name.
  • An address document older than the provider accepts, or in another person's name.
  • A first transfer much larger than typical, without an explanation of purpose.

Remitly's Nigeria pages for other sending countries say delivery times can vary with "transaction review". Answering a request quickly is the main thing you control.

What your recipient needs

Checks fall mainly on you as the sender, but the recipient's details must be right too. Remitly's UK Nigeria page says the recipient does not need to sign up. For a bank deposit, use the name exactly as the Nigerian bank holds it; a nickname or a reversed order of names is a common reason for a payment to be queried. If you are paying a relative's wallet, confirm with them that it is fully registered before you send.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme account opened from Ireland holds euro and naira in one account, and you can send to Nigerian banks with the rate and the fee shown before you approve. More on Remitly: Remitly fees from Ireland and Remitly sending limits. On which ID apps accept, see using your IRP card.

Questions people ask

What ID does Remitly need in Ireland?

A government photo ID such as a passport, with your name, date of birth and address. Your IRP card and an Irish utility bill or bank statement are useful backups.

Why is Remitly asking for my payslip?

Remitly says it may ask for source of income and supporting documents as amounts or limits rise. Upload a recent payslip or statement.

Do I need a PPS number for Remitly?

Remitly's published lists name national ID numbers for some countries. If the app asks for a PPS number, it will say so; otherwise it is not required.

How long do Remitly ID checks take?

Remitly does not publish a time. Transfers can be delayed by review, so respond to any request promptly.
