Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.

You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

No card, no OTP, nothing for the buyer to type in. They transfer from the bank app they already use, and the money lands in the same account your agents are running — already matched to the order, already in your books.
We give the buyer a one-time account number. They transfer to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Nigerian PayPal accounts have long been able to send but not receive. What that means for you in the UK, and what changed with Paga in 2026.
Usually yes. Since PayPal returned to Nigeria in 2014 through a First Bank partnership, Nigerian PayPal accounts have been able to send and pay but not receive, so a person in Nigeria can generally send to your UK PayPal account using a card that works internationally. The January 2026 PayPal-Paga link changed the other direction: Paga users in Nigeria can now receive PayPal payments into a Paga wallet and withdraw in naira.
PayPal and Nigeria have a complicated history, and the confusion runs in both directions. People in the UK are told "PayPal doesn't work in Nigeria" and assume nobody there can pay them. Freelancers in Nigeria are told it now works and assume everything does. This guide sets out what is reported to work as at October 2026, and what to check before relying on it.
TechCabal's January 2026 report summarises it: PayPal shut Nigerian users out in 2004, returned in 2014 through a First Bank partnership that allowed outbound payments only, and in January 2026 announced a partnership with Paga. The Algorithm Post, in June 2026, describes the 2014 arrangement the same way: Nigerian accounts could only send and pay, not receive.
Because Nigerian PayPal accounts can send, a relative or client in Nigeria can generally pay your UK PayPal account. In practice, the sender funds the payment with a card. Whether that works depends on their card:
On your side, the money lands in your UK PayPal balance, and you withdraw it to your UK bank. PayPal's own UK fees page sets out what it charges for receiving and converting; check it before agreeing how the payment will be sent.
TechCabal reported that under the PayPal-Paga partnership, Paga account holders can link PayPal to their Paga wallet, receive from more than 200 countries, keep dollar balances and withdraw in naira, with conversion at willing-buyer, willing-seller rates. No fees or limits were stated in the report. That matters if you in the UK want to pay someone in Nigeria by PayPal: it may now be possible where they hold a Paga account.
The Algorithm Post noted that it was still unclear whether all platforms accept the arrangement; one freelancer said a platform rejected his Nigerian PayPal account for a withdrawal. Treat it as new, and test with a small amount first.
| Situation | Consider |
|---|---|
| Family support from Nigeria | A bank or licensed money transfer provider into your UK account; see how family in Nigeria can send money to the UK |
| A Nigerian client paying your invoice | A GBP bank transfer to your account; see giving GBP details to a Nigerian payer |
| A large sum | A bank transfer, which leaves clearer records for your bank |
| You want naira, not pounds | A naira account; see receiving money from Nigeria |
The reverse direction is the one the Paga link affects. If you want to pay a relative, tailor or freelancer in Nigeria through PayPal, they need a Paga account linked to PayPal. Before you send, ask them to confirm the link is active and that they have received a payment before. The naira they receive depends on the conversion rate Paga applies when they withdraw, which TechCabal described as willing-buyer, willing-seller; ask them to tell you the naira amount that arrived, so you can compare with other routes next time.
For regular support to family, a bank transfer or licensed money transfer provider paying straight into a Nigerian bank account is usually easier to track than a wallet link that is still new.
Be careful with PayPal payments from people you do not know in Nigeria or anywhere else. A payment funded by a stolen card can be reversed after you have sent goods or passed the money on. If someone pays you more than agreed and asks you to send the difference to a third party, it is very likely a scam, and passing money on for strangers can make you part of a money laundering chain.
Withdrawals from PayPal to your UK bank show only PayPal as the payer. If the sums are large or frequent, your bank may ask what they are. Keep a note of each payment: who sent it, their relationship to you, the reason, and the PayPal transaction ID. For business income, keep the invoice too. Income from work is taxable in the UK whichever route it arrives by.
Pryme does not connect to PayPal. A Pryme account holds naira and pounds with local details for each, so family or clients in Nigeria can pay naira into your naira details and you decide when to convert with Swap. See multicurrency accounts.
Generally yes. Since 2014, Nigerian PayPal accounts have been able to send and pay. The sender needs a card that works internationally.
Since January 2026, Paga users can link PayPal to a Paga wallet to receive and withdraw in naira, according to TechCabal. Fees and limits were not published in that report.
Often because their naira card's international limit was reached or the card is blocked for international use. They should check with their bank.
Not necessarily. Compare the amount that reaches your UK bank after all fees, on PayPal's own fees page and the alternatives.
