Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ireland

How to receive money from Nigeria into an Irish bank account

The details a sender in Nigeria needs for your Irish account, and the CBN rules that decide whether they can send foreign currency at all.

The short answer

Give the sender your full account name as the bank holds it, your IBAN, your bank's BIC (SWIFT code), and the bank's name and address. The harder part is in Nigeria: the sender must pay from foreign currency. Under the CBN's 2026 FX Manual, Form A is no longer needed for outward transfers from a self-funded domiciliary account, and reporting describes direct transfers of up to US$10,000 a day; naira itself cannot simply be sent abroad as euro.

Money flows from Nigeria to Ireland more often than people expect: a parent helping with fees, a sibling repaying a loan, the proceeds of selling a car in Abuja, rent from a property at home. Sending it is not like sending money the other way. The sender needs foreign currency, and how they get it decides how easy the transfer is.

The details to give the sender

Account name
Exactly as your Irish bank holds it. A mismatch is a common reason for a payment to be held or returned.
IBAN
Your Irish International Bank Account Number, shown in your banking app or on a statement.
BIC / SWIFT code
Your bank's identifier for international payments, also shown in the app or on the bank's website.
Bank name and address
Some Nigerian bank forms still ask for it.
Your address
Many international transfer forms ask for the beneficiary's address.
Purpose of payment
Family support, gift, tuition, sale proceeds. Agree the wording with the sender so it matches any documents.

Check with your Irish bank whether it charges to receive an international payment, and whether a correspondent bank may deduct a charge on the way. The amount that arrives can be less than the amount sent.

Where the sender gets the foreign currency

This is the deciding step. The CBN's Foreign Exchange Manual (4th edition, effective 1 June 2026) sets the routes. From the coverage we checked:

RouteWhat the reporting saysSource
Sender's own domiciliary account (self-funded)Form A not required for outward remittances; direct transfers up to US$10,000 a day without exhaustive trade documentsPavestones Legal via Mondaq, 24 Jun 2026; TheCable, 3 Jun 2026
Personal travel allowance (PTA)US$4,000 per quarter for adults, at least 75% electronicTheCable, 3 Jun 2026
TuitionUp to US$25,000 per semester via Form A, paid to eligible institutionsNairametrics, 4 Jun 2026

Note the conflict on the US$10,000 figure: TheNigeriaLawyer (2 June 2026) describes it as a cap on cash deposits through telegraphic transfers, not on outward transfers. The sender's bank applies the rule; ask it how the limit is applied to their account.

For most family payments, the practical route is that the sender holds euro or dollars in a domiciliary account and asks their bank to send a SWIFT transfer to your IBAN. Tuition paid straight to an Irish college is a separate route with its own documents. The Nigeria-side form is explained on our sister library: Form A and Form M, explained.

What the sender's bank may charge

Nigerian bank pages list outward transfer charges that vary widely. Union Bank's domiciliary page, for example, lists SWIFT charges of 22 US dollars or 15 pounds and a percentage commission, with some inconsistency between sections; FirstBank's FAQs say transfer charges for domiciliary holders with balances of US$30,000 or more are at most 0.25%. Ask the sender to get the total charge in writing before sending, and to choose whether charges are shared or paid by the sender.

How long it takes

A SWIFT transfer from a Nigerian bank to an Irish IBAN typically passes through at least one correspondent bank. Neither the CBN coverage nor the bank pages we opened give a standard time, so ask the sending bank for its estimate and for the transfer reference once the money leaves. If nothing has arrived after the time quoted, the reference lets your Irish bank trace it. Payments with incomplete beneficiary details are the ones most likely to be delayed or returned.

Questions your Irish bank may ask

Irish banks check larger incoming payments, especially from outside the EU. Be ready to explain who sent the money, why, and where it came from. Useful documents:

  • A short letter or message from the sender stating the purpose.
  • For sale proceeds: the sale agreement and the buyer's payment record.
  • For rent: the tenancy agreement and rent receipts.
  • The sender's bank transfer confirmation (often called an MT103).

Where Pryme fits

Not every payment from Nigeria needs to become euro. A Pryme account, opened from Ireland, gives you naira details in Nigeria and euro details in one account, so a relative can pay you by ordinary naira transfer and you decide when to swap, rate and fee shown before you approve. If you need the money in euro, see whether naira sent from Nigeria can arrive as euro.

Questions people ask

What details do I give someone in Nigeria to send money to my Irish account?

Your account name, IBAN, BIC (SWIFT code), the bank's name and address, your address and the purpose of payment.

Can my parents send money from Nigeria to Ireland?

Yes, from foreign currency. The usual route is a SWIFT transfer from their domiciliary account; Form A is not needed for self-funded domiciliary accounts under the 2026 FX Manual.

How much can be sent from a Nigerian domiciliary account?

Reporting on the 2026 FX Manual describes direct transfers of up to US$10,000 a day without exhaustive documents, but sources differ on what the limit covers. Ask the sending bank.

Why did less money arrive than was sent?

Sending, correspondent and receiving banks can each deduct charges. Ask the sender to choose who pays charges and check your bank's receiving fee.
