Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ghana

How do I get a Nigerian police clearance certificate from Ghana?

Apply on POSSAP for the Nigeria Police character certificate, get fingerprints certified in Ghana, and plan authentication if it is going abroad.

The short answer

The Nigeria Police Force issues the Police Character Certificate, applied for online on POSSAP (possap.gov.ng) with a one-time, non-refundable fee paid only through the POSSAP invoice. From Ghana, the practical difficulty is fingerprints: Canada's immigration department, describing the mail route, says they must be certified by a recognised police authority or a Nigerian embassy or consulate, so ask the Ghana Police Service or the High Commission in Accra.

Employers, immigration authorities and regulators in third countries often ask Nigerians to produce a police certificate from Nigeria, even after years in Ghana. The Nigerian document is the Police Character Certificate. This is different from a Ghanaian police report or clearance, which covers your time in Ghana; see Ghana police clearance for Nigerians for that.

Who it is for

The US State Department's civil documents page for Nigeria describes the certificate as available to applicants over 16 who have lived in Nigeria for six months, applied for online through POSSAP (with the certificate emailed) or in person. If you left Nigeria as a child, ask the authority requesting it whether it still applies to you, and keep its answer.

Step 1: apply on POSSAP

POSSAP is the Police Specialized Services Automation Project, at possap.gov.ng. Leadership's July 2026 report describes the form: ID type and number, full name, phone, email, gender, state, local government area and address. It also reports that:

  • the fee is a one-time, non-refundable charge per request, paid only through the POSSAP invoice;
  • no extra fee should be paid at police formations for biometrics or collection;
  • applicants in Nigeria appear in person at a chosen command for biometrics;
  • processing takes a minimum of 72 hours.

The fee amount is shown on the invoice before you pay; we have not quoted one because the report did not.

Step 2: fingerprints from Ghana

Living in Ghana, you cannot attend a Nigerian police command for biometrics. Canada's immigration department (IRCC) describes the postal route for applicants abroad: send the application to the Central Criminal Registry at the Force CID Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, with a prepaid return courier envelope, a copy of your passport photo page, an international money order payable to the Nigerian Police Force CID, and fingerprints certified by a recognised police authority or by a Nigerian embassy or consulate, which it notes may charge a fee.

The Nigeria High Commission in Accra does not list a fingerprint service on its website. Email or call its Immigration Desk (immigration@nigerianhcaccra.org, 023 911 4161) to ask whether it certifies fingerprints, and ask the Ghana Police Service whether it will take fingerprints on a form for a foreign police certificate. Some missions publish this service: the Nigeria Consulate in Atlanta, for example, lists a "letter to police for character certificate" among its charges.

Step 3: if the certificate is for use in another country

A certificate used abroad is often authenticated. The High Commission in Ottawa, for instance, describes the chain as Force CID Alagbon, then verification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, then the mission. Ask the authority that wants the certificate what it requires. Legalising a police certificate for immigration covers the authentication steps.

Avoiding problems

  • Pay only through POSSAP. Anyone asking for extra money for biometrics or collection is not following the process described.
  • Match your ID. Use the same name order and ID number as on your passport.
  • Keep proof of posting. Track every courier package.
  • Check validity. The State Department notes that, for its own visa purposes, the certificate is valid for two years; other authorities set their own limits.

For the general diaspora process, see police character certificates for the diaspora.

If someone in Nigeria is helping

A relative or lawyer in Lagos can take your package to the Force CID Annex at Alagbon, chase progress and collect the certificate, which saves one international courier leg. Give them a signed authority letter and copies of your passport, and ask them to keep receipts for anything they pay. The POSSAP reporting is clear that no extra fee should be paid at police formations, so tell your helper to refuse any request for one.

Keeping the paperwork consistent

The certificate will be compared with your passport, and any authentication will be compared with the certificate. Use one spelling of your name throughout, give the same passport number on POSSAP and on the fingerprint form, and keep copies of everything you send. If your name has changed since you left Nigeria, include evidence of the change, such as a marriage certificate, so the police and the requesting authority can match the records.

What to check first

  • Whether the requesting authority needs the Nigerian certificate at all.
  • Who in Ghana will certify your fingerprints.
  • POSSAP invoice paid, receipt saved.
  • Authentication needed for the destination country.

Questions people ask

Can I apply for a Nigerian police certificate online from Ghana?

Yes, on POSSAP. The difficulty is biometrics; from abroad, fingerprints are certified locally and sent with the application.

Who takes fingerprints for a Nigerian police certificate in Ghana?

IRCC says fingerprints must be certified by a recognised police authority or a Nigerian embassy or consulate. Ask the Ghana Police Service or the High Commission in Accra.

How much is the Nigerian police character certificate?

POSSAP shows the fee on its invoice. It is one-time and non-refundable, and no extra payment should be made at police formations.

How long is a Nigerian police certificate valid?

The US State Department treats it as valid for two years for its purposes. Other authorities may set different limits.
