What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Passport biometrics appointment: what to bring

The originals, printouts and payment evidence to carry to an NIS passport biometrics appointment, by application type, and what holds people up.

The short answer

Bring your printed payment slip and appointment slip, your NIN slip, and the originals of every document you uploaded, such as your birth certificate or age declaration and your state of origin certificate. Renewal applicants must also bring their current passport booklet, because NIS captures photo and biometrics with the booklet present.

The biometrics appointment is the one part of a Nigerian passport application you must do in person. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says applicants must appear at their chosen office for biometric data capture, and its Service Level Agreement (SLA) adds that you submit your payment and appointment slips in person on the day. Turning up without the right papers can mean a wasted trip and a new booking. This checklist is built from the NIS passports page and the April 2026 SLA.

What can stop you at the desk

NIS does not publish a list of rejection reasons. These are the gaps that follow from its own requirements, and they are worth checking the night before:

  • Uploaded scans but no originals: the officer needs to see the documents themselves
  • A name or date of birth on your birth certificate that differs from your NIN record, because the portal fills your details from NIMC
  • Guarantor's form not sworn before a Commissioner for Oaths, or photos not endorsed on the back
  • No passport booklet for a renewal or data change
  • A child attending without the documents showing parental consent
  • Arriving at the wrong office or on the wrong date

Timing on the day

The SLA lists passport processing hours as Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 16:00. Arrive early, carry everything in one folder in the order above, and allow for a wait. If you cannot keep the date, use the portal rather than simply not turning up, and remember that once an appointment is booked the NIS refund policy says the fee is not refundable.

If you are bringing a child

A child must attend for their own biometrics. Bring the child's documents in a separate folder from your own, along with the letter of consent and your own identity documents as evidence of your Nigerian citizenship. The NIS passports page lists a consent letter from either parent; if you are travelling with the child alone, carrying a copy of the other parent's ID as well avoids questions. Young children can find long waits difficult, so book the earliest slot you can and bring water and something to keep them occupied.

After biometrics

The SLA turnaround starts from successful enrolment: 42 days for a fresh standard passport and 21 days for a renewal or reissue. Keep your slips; you will need them at collection. Worked example: a renewal folder

Example only. Tunde is renewing a 32-page passport. His folder holds, in order: payment slip, appointment slip, NIN slip, current passport booklet, NPC birth certificate with a photocopy, and state of origin certificate with a photocopy. That is six items, each matching something he uploaded on the portal. If his uploaded state of origin certificate came from one LGA and the original he brings is from another, he should resolve that before the appointment.

What to check first

  • Every document you uploaded has an original in your folder
  • Names match across NIN, birth certificate and any certificate
  • Your guarantor's documents are sworn and signed
  • The office and date on your slip are the ones you plan to attend
