Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

NYSC allowance in 2026: how much and when it is paid

The NYSC allowance is ₦77,000 a month, paid since the March 2025 payout. How it got there, what happened to arrears, and when to expect it.

The short answer

The NYSC monthly allowance is ₦77,000, paid by the federal government since the March 2025 payout, up from ₦33,000. The increase was approved in September 2024 and stated to be effective from July 2024, but corps members kept receiving ₦33,000 until the 2025 budget passed; we found no official statement confirming arrears for the months in between. As at October 2026, we found no announcement of a further change.

How much: ₦77,000 a month

The federal allowance paid to every serving corps member is ₦77,000 a month. That is ₦924,000 over a 12-month service year. TheCable reported on 27 March 2025 that NYSC had begun paying the new rate, with spokesperson Caroline Embu confirming it. As at October 2026, we found no announcement of a change; if you hear of one, check NYSC's own official channels before you plan around it.

The allowance is a federal payment. Some states and some employers pay stipends on top, but those are separate and optional; see whether your PPA can pay you.

How ₦77,000 was approved, and why it took months

The gap between approval and payment was a budget gap. The Director-General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, told corps members in Katsina that the increase was approved but would be paid "once the budget is passed".

What happened to arrears

This is the part most corps members ask about. The approval letter, as reported by Techeconomy in September 2024, said the new rate was effective from July 2024, yet corps members continued to receive ₦33,000 for those months. Techeconomy noted there was no official statement on whether the difference would be paid, and the Channels TV report of January 2025 did not mention arrears either.

Working out what arrears would be

Example only. If a corps member was paid ₦33,000 instead of ₦77,000 for one month, the shortfall for that month is ₦44,000. For six such months it would be ₦264,000. This is arithmetic, not a statement that such a sum is owed or will be paid.

When it is paid

The allowance is paid monthly into the bank account you gave NYSC. NYSC does not publish a fixed payment day on any page we opened, and delays have been reported before: in January 2020, ICIR reported corps members complaining of a late allowance before payments at the then new rate arrived at the end of the month. Plan as if the money can arrive a few days late; our guide on money that runs out before month end has tactics that work on an allowance too.

  • Keep a small buffer, ideally a week's spending, so a late payment does not force you to borrow.
  • Make sure the account name matches your NYSC records; a mismatch can hold up any fix.
  • If a month is missed, report it through your NYSC local government inspector rather than waiting.
  • Check your account statement, not just alerts, to confirm the exact amount credited.

If the amount credited looks wrong

Short or missing payments happen, and they are easier to fix when you have records. Before you complain, check these points.

  1. Confirm the month: an allowance credited on the 2nd may belong to the previous month.
  2. Compare the credit with ₦77,000. A different figure could be a deduction by your bank (for example a charge), or a payment at an old rate.
  3. Check whether other corps members in your local government were paid; if nobody was, it is a general delay, not your record.
  4. If only you were missed, take your call-up letter, ID and statement to your local government inspector and ask how to raise it.
  5. Write down the date you reported it and whom you spoke to.

Over a full year, the ₦77,000 rate pays ₦924,000. At the old ₦33,000 rate a full year paid ₦396,000, so the current allowance is ₦528,000 more over a service year.

What ₦77,000 has to cover

For many corps members ₦77,000 is the main income for the year. A budget that puts accommodation, transport and food first and saves even a small fixed amount is more useful than a plan that assumes stipends will come. Our worked plan for budgeting ₦77,000 and the full history of the allowance give more detail. If you are tempted by a loan against the allowance, read our guide to loan apps and the NYSC allowance first.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme Personal Account can receive your allowance like any Nigerian account, and you can move a fixed amount into a Naira savings Box on the day it lands (rates are shown in the app). The Personal Assistant can remind you when it arrives; nothing moves without your approval.

Questions people ask

How much is NYSC allowance now?

₦77,000 a month, paid by the federal government since the March 2025 payout, according to TheCable's report of 27 March 2025. As at October 2026 we found no announcement of a change.

When is NYSC allowance paid every month?

Monthly, into the account you gave NYSC. NYSC does not publish a fixed day on the pages we opened, and payments have sometimes arrived late in the month.

Did corps members get ₦77,000 arrears?

The approval said the rate was effective from July 2024, but corps members kept getting ₦33,000 until early 2025. We found no official statement confirming arrears were paid; ask your state NYSC secretariat.

Is the ₦77,000 allowance paid by my PPA?

No. The allowance is a federal payment. Any PPA or state stipend is separate and optional.
