Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ghana

Can I vote in Nigerian elections while living in Ghana?

Nigerians in Ghana cannot vote from Ghana. Why the Constitution and Electoral Act tie voting to a polling unit at home, and what changed in 2026.

The short answer

No. As at October 2026 there is no diaspora voting for Nigerian elections: the Constitution and the Electoral Act tie voter registration and voting to residence and a polling unit in Nigeria, and the Electoral Act signed in February 2026 did not add it. A Nigerian living in Ghana can vote only by being registered and present at their own polling unit in Nigeria on election day.

The position as it stands

Nigerians abroad, including the large community in Ghana, cannot cast a vote from outside Nigeria. INEC has said repeatedly that it can only work within the law. In November 2020 the then INEC chair Mahmood Yakubu said diaspora voting "requires amendment to the constitution and the Electoral Act", adding "we can't go beyond what the law provides". In January 2023 TheCable reported that section 77(2) of the Constitution ties voter registration to residence in Nigeria. In February 2026 AllAfrica and other outlets reported the new INEC chair, Joash Amupitan, saying the same thing in substance: INEC works under the existing framework.

Why it has not changed

Allowing diaspora voting needs a constitutional amendment, not just a new INEC rule. A constitutional amendment must pass both chambers of the National Assembly, be approved by two-thirds of state houses of assembly and receive presidential assent, as WithinNigeria set out in February 2026.

The 2022 vote

The last recorded attempt failed. In the 2022 constitution review, the amendment to sections 77 and 117 that would have allowed diaspora voting was rejected:

ChamberForAgainst
Senate2962
House of Representatives58240

Those figures were reported by NAN and Peoples Gazette in February 2023, when a member of the House Committee on Diaspora promised to bring the bill back.

The 2026 Electoral Act

President Tinubu signed the Electoral Act 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law on 18 February 2026, according to Channels TV. The coverage centred on result transmission. It did not introduce diaspora voting, and it could not have done so on its own, because the constitutional residence link remains. Reports in late 2025 said the Speaker supported a diaspora voting bill; as at October 2026 we found no report that an amendment had passed.

If you want to vote: what it takes from Ghana

  1. Be registered at a polling unit in Nigeria. Registration happens in Nigeria during INEC's continuous voter registration windows.
  2. Have your Permanent Voter Card (PVC). It is collected in Nigeria.
  3. Transfer if needed. If your registration is at an old address, INEC runs a transfer process during registration periods. We could not confirm the current transfer procedure on an INEC page, so check INEC's announcements before you travel.
  4. Be at your polling unit on election day. There is no postal, proxy or embassy voting.

From Accra, Lagos is a short flight or a long road trip, so voting is more practical for Nigerians in Ghana than for those further away. If you plan to go, check that your passport has enough validity; see how long a passport takes in Accra. Budget the trip with our Accra to Lagos travel guide.

What you can do from Ghana

  • Register with the Nigeria High Commission in Accra, which helps in emergencies; see registering with the mission.
  • Follow the National Assembly's constitution review, where diaspora voting is debated.
  • Engage your representatives at home; the 2022 vote shows the outcome is decided there.
  • Support family members at home to register and collect their PVCs.

Common misunderstandings

  • 'I can vote at the High Commission.' No Nigerian mission runs polling. Missions handle passports and consular services, not elections.
  • 'A relative can vote for me with my PVC.' There is no proxy voting in Nigerian law. Using another person's card is not a lawful way to vote. In 2023 a NIDO official in the United States told Peoples Gazette that many Nigerians there had planned informal proxy arrangements, which simply meant urging relatives at home to vote; those votes were the relatives' own.
  • 'My PVC lets me vote anywhere in Nigeria.' A PVC is tied to the polling unit where you registered, which is why transfers exist.
  • 'Registering on a diaspora app gets me on the roll.' No. Diaspora databases are for engagement and services, not the voter register.

If someone in Accra offers to register you to vote from Ghana, or asks you for your PVC details for a diaspora ballot, treat it as a scam until INEC announces otherwise.

Will it change before the next election?

Only if a constitutional amendment completes every stage and INEC then has time to build a system for registration and voting abroad. As at October 2026, neither has happened. Treat any claim that you can vote from Ghana with caution until INEC itself announces it.

Questions people ask

Can Nigerians in Ghana vote in the 2027 election?

Not from Ghana, on the law as at October 2026. You must be registered and present at your polling unit in Nigeria.

Can I register for a PVC at the Nigeria High Commission in Accra?

No. Voter registration is done in Nigeria by INEC; missions do not register voters.

Did the 2026 Electoral Act allow diaspora voting?

No. It was signed on 18 February 2026 and did not introduce diaspora voting, which also needs a constitutional amendment.

Why was diaspora voting rejected in 2022?

The amendment to sections 77 and 117 failed to get enough votes: 29 for and 62 against in the Senate, 58 for and 240 against in the House.
