Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ireland

Nigerian passport fees at the Embassy in Dublin

The NIS passport fees for applicants in Ireland by booklet type, the extra charges that can apply, and where to check today's figure.

The short answer

For applicants outside Nigeria, NIS sets the passport fee in US dollars: $150 for the 32-page, five-year booklet and $230 for the 64-page, ten-year booklet, unchanged when Nigeria's domestic fees rose on 1 September 2025 and repeated in the NIS Service Level Agreement 2026. Bank or card charges are extra, a change of data carries a separate ₦30,000 administrative charge, and the Embassy in Dublin may add its own local fee, so check its current notice before you pay.

Passport fees for Nigerians in Ireland are often quoted wrongly online, mixing up the naira fees paid in Nigeria with the dollar fees paid abroad. This page sets out what NIS itself has published, what is extra, and what you still need to confirm with the Embassy in Dublin.

The NIS fees for applicants abroad

BookletValidityFee abroadFee in Nigeria (from 1 Sep 2025)
32 pages5 years$150₦100,000
64 pages10 years$230₦200,000

Source: NIS press release of 28 August 2025, which said fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remained $150 and $230, and the NIS Service Level Agreement 2026 (April 2026), which repeats the same figures and states that fees exclude bank charges. These are the figures as at October 2026; fees change, so the amount shown on the NIS portal when you pay is the one that counts.

The fee is the same for a fresh application, a renewal or a child's passport on the NIS figures; the difference is in the documents. The NIS passports page also lists a 64-page, five-year booklet, but the 2025 and 2026 fee figures cover only the two booklets above, so check the portal if you see a third option.

Charges on top of the passport fee

Change or correction of data
₦30,000 administrative charge, non-refundable, per the NIS Service Level Agreement 2026. The Consulate in Atlanta says this is paid in naira only through the NIS request portal.
Bank and card charges
Excluded from the NIS fee. Your Irish bank or card provider may add a foreign transaction fee and its own exchange rate when you pay a dollar amount in euro.
Mission administrative charge
Missions set their own. As examples, the High Commission in Ottawa lists a C$50 administrative fee for fresh or renewal applications, paid by money order on top of the NIS fee. We could not open the Embassy of Nigeria in Dublin's site to confirm its charge; ask before your appointment.
Return postage
If the Embassy posts passports back, you supply the envelope or pay postage; see collecting a passport outside Dublin.

Worked example

Example only. A 64-page passport at $230 paid with an Irish euro card. If the card provider's rate on the day were €0.88 per dollar plus a 2% foreign transaction fee, the cost would be $230 × 0.88 = €202.40, plus €4.05, a total of €206.45. Your card's actual rate and fee will differ; check them in your banking app before paying.

Where to check today's fee

  1. The NIS passport portal shows the fee for your booklet before you pay.
  2. The NIS news page announces fee changes.
  3. The Embassy of Nigeria in Dublin's consular notices give its own administrative charges and payment method.
  4. For a data change, the request portal shows the naira admin charge.

Where Pryme fits

The passport fee is in dollars and the data-change charge in naira. A Pryme Personal account opened in Ireland holds euro, dollars and naira, and Swap shows the rate and the fee before you approve a conversion. Check that the NIS payment page accepts your payment method first. Our guide to renewing at the Embassy in Dublin covers the full process.

Questions people ask

How much is a Nigerian passport renewal in Ireland?

NIS sets $150 for 32 pages (5 years) and $230 for 64 pages (10 years) for applicants abroad, as at October 2026. Check the Embassy for any local charge.

Can I pay the Nigerian passport fee in euro?

The fee is set in dollars on the NIS portal; an Irish card is converted by your card provider. Ask the Embassy about any euro administrative charge.

How much does it cost to change data on a Nigerian passport?

NIS lists a ₦30,000 non-refundable administrative charge for correction of data, on top of the passport fee.

Did passport fees go up for Nigerians abroad in 2025?

No. NIS raised fees in Nigeria from 1 September 2025 but said diaspora fees stayed at $150 and $230.
