You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Customs uses your car's VIN to identify make, model and year and to set the value duty is charged on. How it works and how to check before shipping.
Under VIN valuation, the Nigeria Customs Service uses a car's Vehicle Identification Number to identify its make, model and year and to assign a standard value, from which the import duty is calculated. When it was introduced, Customs said the only thing it needed from the importer was the VIN, and that a correctly self-declared and paid car could be out of Customs control within six hours, BusinessDay reported in January 2022.
Every car has a Vehicle Identification Number stamped on the chassis and printed on its title. Customs uses it as the key to its valuation. BusinessDay reported on 18 January 2022 that Saidu Galadima, then Assistant Comptroller General of Customs for ICT and Modernisation, explained that the system assigns standard values to vehicles entering through approved entry points and returns the car's make, model and year from the VIN. He said: "The only thing Customs needs from the importer or his agent is the Vehicle Identification Number."
He described the system as using artificial intelligence and data "available across the world". BusinessDay did not name the database, and we have not found a published description of exactly which sources Customs uses.
The value Customs assigns, not the price on your auction receipt, is the base for almost every line in the bill. Import duty, the vehicle levy and ETLS are percentages of the CIF value, and VAT at 7.5% is charged on CIF plus the other lines, as Legit.ng set out in August 2026. If the VIN value is higher than you expected, every line rises.
Example only. If you budgeted on a car value of ₦8,000,000 and the VIN process sets it at ₦9,000,000, a 20% duty line rises from ₦1,600,000 to ₦1,800,000, a ₦200,000 increase before the levy, surcharge and VAT move as well. For the whole stack, see how customs calculates car import duty.
The system was presented as self-declaration: the importer declares the vehicle's cost and pays, and if that is done correctly, the importer is "out of Customs control" within six hours, according to the 2022 report. In practice, clearing time also depends on port congestion, scanning and terminal processes, so plan for longer.
Legit.ng's August 2026 summary of import rules, citing Vanguard, also advised importers to verify the applicable Customs valuation and clearance requirements before shipping. That is the cheapest point at which to find a problem.
Common reasons include a VIN that decodes to a higher trim than the car actually has, a wrong year, or a car that was badly damaged and bought cheaply at a salvage auction. Gather the evidence (invoice, title, auction condition report, photos) and raise it through your agent. Our guide to challenging a duty assessment covers the route.
If the VIN on the chassis does not match the documents, stop. Mismatched or altered VINs can point to a stolen or rebuilt car, and the problem becomes much larger than a valuation dispute.
A VIN encodes the manufacturer, the vehicle's attributes such as body and engine, a check digit, the model year and the plant and serial number. That is enough to identify a model and year, which is what a valuation table needs. It does not tell Customs the car's condition, its mileage, whether it has been in a flood or what you actually paid for it at auction. Those are the points you may need to prove with documents if the value looks too high.
Before the system, valuation relied more heavily on the documents an importer presented and on officers' judgement at the port, which left room for both undervaluation by importers and inconsistent assessments. Linking value to the VIN was presented as a way to make the figure predictable for anyone holding the same car. Whether your car's value is fair still depends on the data behind it, which is why checking early matters.
Paying a seller abroad and duty at home means handling two currencies. A Pryme account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR with local details for each, and Swap shows the rate and the fee before you approve, so you can see the naira cost of a dollar purchase before committing.
It is the system Customs uses to identify a car from its Vehicle Identification Number and assign the value duty is charged on, introduced in 2022 according to BusinessDay.
Give a licensed customs agent the full VIN and ask them to run it through the Customs valuation process and give you a written estimate.
Not only. The VIN system assigns a standard value, so the value used can differ from what you paid. Keep your invoice as evidence if you dispute it.
Customs said in 2022 that a correctly self-declared and paid car could be out of Customs control within six hours, but port and terminal processes often take longer.
