Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Nigeria Customs Service salary by rank

What is officially published about Customs pay, the CONPASS structure behind it, why rank tables online are unverified, and how to check an offer.

The short answer

Customs officers' pay is widely reported to follow the Consolidated Para-Military Salary Structure (CONPASS), which NSIWC adjusted from 29 July 2024 along with the other federal structures. We could not find an official CONPASS table or a Customs rank-by-rank pay list published by NSIWC or the Service, so rank salary figures circulating online are unverified. Your appointment letter states your CONPASS level and step.

"How much does Customs pay?" is one of the most common questions from recruitment applicants, and the internet is full of confident rank-by-rank tables. Before relying on any of them, it helps to know what is officially published and what is not.

What is officially confirmed

The structure exists and was adjusted in 2024
NSIWC's chairman announced on 24 September 2024 that workers on CONPASS, among other structures, would benefit from the upward review effective 29 July 2024, as TheCable reported.
Pensioners on CONPASS got the ₦32,000 increase
NSIWC circular SWC/S/04/S.542/III/461 of 27 September 2024 lists the Consolidated Para-Military Salary Structure among those whose defined-benefit retirees receive ₦32,000 more a month from 29 July 2024.
No public CONPASS table in the 2024 list
NSIWC's 2024 circulars page lists new tables for CONPSS, CONHESS, CONMESS, CONUASS, CONPCASS, CONRAISS, CONTEDISS and CONTISS II. When we checked in October 2026, no CONPASS table was among them.
No CONPASS column in the conversion table
NSIWC's conversion table, which maps CONPSS grade levels to other structures, does not include CONPASS.

Why rank tables online are unreliable

  • They rarely cite a circular, a reference number or an effective date.
  • Many predate the July 2024 adjustment, so even accurate old figures are out of date.
  • Some mix salary with allowances, or monthly with annual figures.
  • Some map ranks to CONPASS levels in different ways from each other.

For comparison, the federal civil service table is public: CONPSS GL08 starts at ₦1,479,276 a year and GL10 at ₦1,806,041. Those are civil service figures, not Customs figures; we include them only to show what an official, dated table looks like.

How Customs pay is structured

Like the federal structures that are published, CONPASS is understood to have levels with steps inside each level. An officer's level depends on the cadre and rank at entry, and changes with promotion; steps move with service. Allowances specific to the Service, where paid, are set by their own approvals and shown as separate payslip lines. The Service's recruitment adverts, when published, are the most reliable public place to see which level a cadre enters on.

Checking an offer or payslip

  1. Read your appointment letter for your CONPASS level and step.
  2. Ask your unit's pay office for the current table for that level, with its circular reference and date.
  3. Check that the 29 July 2024 adjustment and any arrears were applied.
  4. List each allowance and the approval it rests on.
  5. Check pension, tax and any other deductions on your payslip.

Worked example: reading a payslip

Example only, not a Customs figure. Suppose an appointment letter shows an annual salary of ₦2,000,000. That is ₦166,666.67 a month. With 8% pension (₦160,000 a year), 2.5% NHF (₦50,000), and PAYE under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 bands reported by BusinessDay on taxable income of ₦1,840,000 (15% of the ₦1,040,000 above ₦800,000, which is ₦156,000), take-home would be ₦1,634,000 a year, or ₦136,166.67 a month. Your actual deductions depend on your pension arrangement and payroll.

Questions to ask before you accept a posting

  • Which CONPASS level and step does my appointment letter place me on, and what is the annual figure?
  • Which allowances will I receive, from when, and under what approval?
  • How is pension handled for my cadre, and which administrator receives it?
  • When will the first salary and any arrears from my resumption date be paid?
  • What does my posting location mean for accommodation and transport costs?

What it would take to publish rank figures

We will add a rank-by-rank table when we can cite one: a dated CONPASS table from NSIWC, or a Customs Service document that maps ranks to levels. Until then, any figure we printed would be a guess dressed up as fact. If you have an official circular, the reference number and date are what make it checkable.

Beware recruitment scams

Because pay is not openly published, fake recruitment offers often promise high salaries in exchange for a "processing fee". Honest employers, including government, do not ask you to pay to get a job; check any advert against the Service's official channels.

Where Pryme fits

New officers often wait for a first salary and then receive arrears. Our guide to budgeting a first salary and a Naira Savings Box can help. See also Nigeria's salary structures explained and gross vs net pay.

Questions people ask

What salary structure does Nigeria Customs Service use?

It is widely reported to be CONPASS, the Consolidated Para-Military Salary Structure, which NSIWC adjusted from 29 July 2024.

How much is Customs salary per month in Nigeria?

We could not find an official, dated Customs rank table. Your appointment letter states your CONPASS level and step; ask the pay office for the current table.

Was Customs salary increased with the new minimum wage?

CONPASS was among the structures NSIWC said would benefit from the review effective 29 July 2024.

Do I pay money to get a Customs job?

No legitimate recruitment requires payment. Treat any request for a fee as a likely scam.
