Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to cancel MTN data auto-renewal

Stop MTN renewing your data plan without asking: the SMS route MTN publishes, the *312# menu path, and how to check the plan is no longer renewing.

The short answer

MTN's data help page says you can cancel auto-renewal at any time by texting NO followed by the bundle code to 312. You can also dial *312#, choose Data Plans, Next, Manage Data and then Cancel Auto Renewal, and pick the bundle; afterwards check your plan in the myMTN app or with *323*4#.

Auto-renewal is meant to save you the trouble of buying the same bundle each month. The problem comes when you have moved to a different plan, are using Wi-Fi at home, or simply want to decide each time. A renewal then takes airtime you meant for calls. MTN gives two ways to switch it off.

Method 1: the SMS route MTN publishes

MTN's data bundles help page states that you can cancel auto-renewal 'anytime' by sending NO followed by the bundle code to 312. The same page says you opt in, or renew a one-off bundle, by sending R plus the bundle code to 312.

  1. Find the bundle code for the plan you are on. It is usually in the confirmation SMS you received when you first bought the plan, and in the plan details in the myMTN app.
  2. Open your messages and send NO followed by that code to 312. For example, if your plan's code were 108, you would send NO108; the code here is an illustration, so use your own.
  3. Wait for MTN's reply and keep it.

If you cannot find the bundle code, use the app or the menu method below, which show your active plans.

Method 2: the myMTN app

MTN's data auto-renewal page says you can switch renewal in the myMTN NG app under Manage Subscription, using the toggle for the plan. It also says that when you activate a plan, a pop-up lets you choose between auto-renewal and a one-off purchase, and that a renewing plan is paid from airtime if you have enough balance. The app route is the easiest if you are not sure of your bundle code.

Method 3: the *312# menu

Prime Business Africa published the current menu path on 2 March 2026. Menu numbers change from time to time, so read each screen rather than keying the numbers blind.

  1. Dial *312#.
  2. Choose Data Plans (option 1).
  3. Choose Next (option 99).
  4. Choose Manage Data (option 12).
  5. Choose Cancel Auto Renewal (option 3). If you are not sure which bundle you have, option 1 on that screen shows your active plan.
  6. Select the bundle you want to stop renewing and confirm.

How to check that auto-renewal is off

Neither source we checked describes a confirmation message, so check it yourself:

  • Open the myMTN app and look at the plan's details; a renewing plan is normally marked as such.
  • Dial *323*4# or text 2 to 323 to see your bundle and its expiry date (both listed on MTN's data help page).
  • On the expiry date, check your airtime with *310#. If it has not dropped by the plan's price, the renewal did not run.

Turning it back on, or buying without renewal

If you change your mind, MTN's help page gives the reverse route: send R followed by the bundle code to 312 to opt in to renewal, or to renew a one-off bundle. When you buy a new plan through *312*1# or *904#, read each screen carefully, because the menu may ask whether you want the plan to renew. Choosing a one-off purchase at that point saves you cancelling later.

If you manage a line for a parent or a child, do the check on their phone, or with them on the call, because the SMS and USSD routes work only from the line itself. The myMTN app can manage several numbers once each is added and confirmed.

When auto-renewal is worth keeping

Auto-renewal has one clear benefit. MTN's help page says unused main data rolls over only if you buy another plan from the same category within the grace period: 1 day for 1-day plans, 3 days for 2- to 14-day plans and 7 days for 30-, 60- and 90-day plans. If you always buy the same monthly plan and keep enough airtime on the line, renewal keeps your unused data. If you change plans often, switch it off and buy each plan when you need it, remembering the grace window.

Worked example (illustrative)

You buy a 30-day plan for ₦3,500 and have 2GB left on the expiry date. If you buy the same plan within 7 days, the 2GB carries over. If you buy a different category of plan, or wait 8 days, it is lost. Turning off renewal is fine; forgetting the grace window is what costs data.

Other charges that look like renewals

Sometimes the airtime that disappears is not a data renewal at all. Two other causes are common:

  • Pay-as-you-go browsing after a bundle ends, charged at ₦3.07 per MB as at Oct 2026 on MTN's data help page. Opt out with *312*201# or by texting SUSPEND to 312.
  • Value-added services such as content subscriptions. MTN's help centre routes 'Stop VAS' requests to Zigi on WhatsApp (0903 300 0001), and the NCC's harmonised code 305 is the stop-service code on all networks.

Where Pryme fits

If you would rather decide each month, the Personal Assistant in a Pryme account can remind you before a plan expires and prepare the purchase, and nothing is bought until you approve it. You can buy MTN data on the airtime and data page. See also deactivating an unwanted MTN plan and bill reminders that work.

Questions people ask

How do I stop MTN from renewing my data automatically?

Text NO followed by your bundle code to 312, as MTN's help page states, or dial *312# and go to Data Plans, Next, Manage Data, Cancel Auto Renewal.

What is the code to stop auto-renewal on MTN?

There is no single short code; use the *312# menu (Manage Data, then Cancel Auto Renewal) or the SMS route NO plus bundle code to 312.

Will I lose my unused data if I cancel auto-renewal?

Only if you do not buy another plan of the same category within the grace period. MTN states 1 day for daily plans, 3 days for 2- to 14-day plans and 7 days for 30- to 90-day plans.

Why is MTN still taking my airtime after I cancelled?

Check whether pay-as-you-go browsing is on (opt out with *312*201#) or a value-added service is active (stop it through Zigi or code 305).
