Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Australia

Sending MoneyGram from Australia to Nigeria for cash pickup

MoneyGram's Australian page says little about Nigerian cash pickup. What we could confirm, what the recipient needs, and the CBN cash limit.

The short answer

MoneyGram's Australian page confirms you can send from Australia to Nigeria online, in its app or with cash at an agent, but it does not describe cash pickup, payout currency or what the receiver needs. On the Nigerian side, GTBank's MoneyGram page describes naira cash pickup at its branches with valid ID, and says amounts over the naira equivalent of US$200 must go to an account under CBN rules. Confirm cash pickup is offered in the app before you send.

What MoneyGram's Australian page says, as at October 2026

Route
"You can send money from Australia to Nigeria and more than 200 other countries and territories."
Ways to send
Online, in the app, or with cash in person at an agent location.
Paying
Debit card and credit card listed.
Fees
"No fees for new customers", for the first online transfer only; "Transfer fees and exchange rates vary based on transaction details."
Exchange rate
"MoneyGram makes money from currency exchange."
Receive options
A list of Nigerian banks (including Unity Bank, First Bank and GTBank); cash pickup, payout currency and receiver requirements are not described.

Because the page does not confirm cash pickup for Nigeria, check the delivery options in the app when you enter Nigeria as the destination. MoneyGram's developer documentation for Nigeria, modified 23 October 2025, lists bank deposit and mobile wallet for Nigeria and does not mention cash pickup.

What the recipient in Nigeria needs

GTBank's MoneyGram page describes the receiving side at its branches:

  • Naira cash pickup at any GTBank branch, or a deposit to a GTBank or other bank naira account using the 10-digit account number.
  • Funds must be sent in the account holder's first name and surname.
  • For cash pickup, valid ID; GTBank gives BVN and international passport as examples. Non-customers with regulatory IDs can collect.
  • Amounts above the naira equivalent of US$200 must go to an account, in line with CBN rules.
  • The beneficiary is not charged.

These are GTBank's terms; other Nigerian banks that pay MoneyGram transfers may set out their requirements differently. Your recipient should also have the reference number you receive when you send.

The US$200 cash limit

The CBN Foreign Exchange Manual 2026, in force from 1 June 2026 according to Pavestones Legal, caps cash withdrawal on inbound remittances at the naira equivalent of US$200. If you want to send more than that, cash pickup will not work for the full amount; use a bank deposit instead.

Worked example

Example with illustrative figures only. If the naira equivalent of US$200 were ₦300,000 on the day, a transfer delivering ₦250,000 could be collected in cash, while one delivering ₦600,000 would need to be paid to an account. Check the current equivalent at the paying bank.

If your recipient has a bank account

A bank deposit avoids the cash limit and the trip to a branch. GTBank says MoneyGram funds can be paid into a GTBank account or another bank's naira account using the 10-digit account number, and MoneyGram's developer documentation lists bank deposit to all Nigerian banks. Send in the account holder's first name and surname exactly as the bank holds them.

Steps

  1. Open the MoneyGram app or site, choose Nigeria and confirm the delivery options offered for your amount.
  2. Read the fee, rate and amount received.
  3. Enter the recipient's name exactly as on their ID.
  4. Pay and send the reference number to your recipient.
  5. Tell them to take valid ID to the paying bank and ask how much can be collected as cash.

See also ID for cash pickup in Nigeria and checking the rate gap.

Where Pryme fits

For recipients with a bank account, Send from a Pryme account pays Nigerian accounts in naira, with the rate and the fee shown before you approve.

Questions people ask

Can I send MoneyGram from Australia to Nigeria for cash pickup?

The Australian page confirms the route but not cash pickup. Check the delivery options in the app.

What ID does my recipient need for MoneyGram in Nigeria?

GTBank lists valid ID such as BVN or international passport, and the reference number.

How much cash can be collected from a MoneyGram transfer?

Up to the naira equivalent of US$200 under the CBN 2026 rules; larger amounts go to an account.

Is MoneyGram free from Australia?

The first online transfer is advertised with no fee for new customers, and MoneyGram says it makes money from currency exchange.
