Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Sending to a Nigerian bank on the LuLu Money app

How the LuLu Money app works for a transfer to a Nigerian bank account: sign-up, KYC at a branch, recipient details, limits and cancellation.

The short answer

To send to a Nigerian bank on LuLu Money you register with your email, mobile number and a valid Emirates ID, complete KYC at a LuLu Exchange branch if you are new, add the recipient's name, 10-digit account number and bank, then pay by net banking, wire, cash at a branch or a salary card. LuLu's UAE FAQ sets limits of AED 150,000 per transaction and AED 500,000 a month, and a new recipient can receive up to AED 2,500 in the first 24 hours.

LuLu Money is the app of LuLu Exchange, one of the exchange houses many Nigerians in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi already use at the counter. The app moves the same service onto your phone, but it has its own rules on who can register, how you pay and how much you can send. This guide follows LuLu's own UAE FAQ, which we read in October 2026, and fills in what a Nigerian bank needs to credit the money correctly. The FAQ does not name Nigeria among its corridors, so confirm in the app that Nigeria and bank deposit appear for you before you rely on it.

Who can use the app

LuLu's FAQ says the app is for individuals above the age of 21 who are resident in the UAE. You sign up with an email address, your UAE mobile number and your Emirates ID, and confirm with a one-time password. The FAQ is firm that "only a valid Emirates ID can be used to verify your identity". New customers are asked to visit a LuLu Exchange branch with the original Emirates ID to complete KYC, and a Customer Number is then emailed to you. If the Emirates ID on file has expired, the FAQ again sends you to a branch with the original card to update KYC; our guide to sending with an expired Emirates ID covers that situation.

Step by step: a transfer to a Nigerian bank account

  1. Register and finish KYC. Sign up in the app, then complete the branch visit if you are a new customer.
  2. Add the recipient. Go to Recipients, then Add recipients, and choose whether the money is for yourself or someone else. LuLu says mandatory fields vary by country. A recipient cannot be a company or a charity, so this route is for individuals.
  3. Enter the Nigerian bank details. Use the account holder's full name exactly as the bank holds it, the 10-digit account number (NUBAN) and the bank's name from the list.
  4. Choose the amount and check the quote. LuLu's fee depends on the receiving country and payout service, and its rates "update dynamically every few minutes", so the figure you see is the one to judge.
  5. Pick how you pay. The FAQ lists Net Banking through the UAE Central Bank gateway (at no extra cost), Wire Transfer, Cash@Branch, salary cards such as My Pay My Card or other Ratibi cards, and DAPI. It does not list credit cards.
  6. Keep the reference. If you pay by wire, LuLu says the funds must reach its account within 4 hours and the transaction is cancelled if the bank reference number is not entered in that window.

What the Nigerian bank needs to see

Nigerian accounts use the Nigeria Uniform Bank Account Number, a 10-digit number that is unique within each bank; the CBN extended the standard to other financial institutions, including microfinance banks, from 2020. The account number and the bank must match, and the name must match the account closely. A one-letter slip in the name or a digit out of place is the most common reason a transfer stalls; see what to do about a name mismatch and a wrong account number.

The money arrives in naira. A CBN circular dated 24 March 2026, effective 1 May 2026, requires licensed international money transfer operators to pay customers in Nigeria only in naira and to route payouts through naira settlement accounts at authorised dealer banks, according to a regulatory update by Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie. So an exchange-house transfer to a Nigerian account lands as naira even if your family holds a dollar account.

Limits, timing and cancelling

Rule in LuLu's UAE FAQWhat it says
Per transactionAED 150,000
Per monthAED 500,000
Same recipientMaximum 2 transactions a day
New recipientUp to AED 2,500 straight away; the limit rises after 24 hours
Typical credit time"Most of the transfers are credited within not more than 30 minutes"
CancellationEmail customer service from your registered address or visit a branch; only if not yet credited

The 30-minute figure depends on the country, the delivery option and how you paid. LuLu lists bank holidays, time zones, requests for more information and incorrect recipient details as reasons for delay. On cancellation, the FAQ warns that "cancellation charges and rate adjustment may also apply", which means you may not get back the full dirham amount you paid; our piece on refunds on cancelled transfers explains why.

What to check first

  • Your Emirates ID is valid and matches the one LuLu holds.
  • Nigeria and bank deposit appear as options in your app.
  • The recipient's name is spelt as on their bank account, with the right 10-digit number and bank.
  • The quote shows the fee and the naira amount before you confirm.
  • If paying by wire, you can enter the bank reference within 4 hours.

Where Pryme fits

If the money is for you rather than family, a Pryme multicurrency account gives you Nigerian naira account details alongside USD, GBP and EUR, opened from the UAE. You can then send onward within Nigeria from one app. The app shows the rate and the fee before you approve.

Questions people ask

Can I send to any Nigerian bank on LuLu Money?

LuLu's FAQ says it can send directly to a recipient's bank account and has correspondent relationships with more than 50 banks, but it does not list Nigerian banks. Check the bank list in the app when you add the recipient.

What is the LuLu Money limit to Nigeria?

The UAE FAQ gives AED 150,000 per transaction, AED 500,000 a month and two transactions a day to the same recipient. A new recipient can receive up to AED 2,500 in the first 24 hours.

Can I pay with my credit card on LuLu Money?

The FAQ lists net banking, wire transfer, cash at a branch, salary cards and DAPI. It does not list credit cards.

Will my family receive dollars or naira?

Naira. Under a CBN circular effective 1 May 2026, licensed transfer operators pay recipients in Nigeria in naira only.
