Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ireland

Lost Nigerian passport in Ireland: emergency travel certificate

Lost your Nigerian passport in Ireland? Report the loss, then ask the Embassy in Dublin for an Emergency Travel Certificate or a replacement passport.

The short answer

If you lose your Nigerian passport in Ireland and need to travel to Nigeria soon, report the loss to An Garda Síochána and ask the Embassy of Nigeria in Dublin for an Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC), a one-way document for returning to Nigeria. Other missions limit its use: London says you must travel within 30 days of issue and Ottawa says it is valid for 30 days. If you are not travelling soon, apply for a replacement passport instead.

Losing a passport abroad brings two separate problems: getting home if you need to, and replacing the document properly. For Nigerians in Ireland both run through the Embassy of Nigeria in Dublin. This guide separates the two routes and lists what to gather.

First: report the loss

Report the loss to An Garda Síochána at your local station and ask for written confirmation of the report with a reference number. Nigerian missions generally want evidence that a passport has been reported lost before they issue anything new, and the report protects you if someone tries to use the passport. We could not read the Dublin embassy's document list, so ask what form of police record it accepts.

  • Write down your passport number if you have it (from a photocopy, a visa application or an airline booking).
  • Gather any copy of the lost passport's data page.
  • Keep your Irish residence permission card safe; you will want it as identification while you deal with the embassy.

Route 1: Emergency Travel Certificate

An ETC is a short-validity travel document for a Nigerian who must return to Nigeria and has no valid passport. It is not a passport and is not for onward travel to other countries. Two missions publish their terms:

MissionFeeTime and validity
High Commission, London£120 by postal orderTravel within 30 days of issue
High Commission, OttawaCAD 150 by money order or bank draftAbout 10 business days; valid 30 days
Embassy, DublinAsk the embassyAsk the embassy

Expect to provide proof that you are Nigerian (a copy of the lost passport, a birth certificate, your NIN slip), the police report, passport photographs, and evidence of your travel such as a flight booking. Because the ETC is valid only for a short period, apply when your travel date is fixed, not weeks ahead.

Before you rely on an ETC

Check with your airline that it will carry you on an ETC, and remember you will need to apply for a full passport in Nigeria or on return to Ireland. If you hold Irish citizenship as well, Irish travel documents are a separate matter for the Irish passport service.

Route 2: replacement passport

If you are not travelling urgently, apply for a new passport through the NIS portal and attend the embassy for capture, as with a renewal. Missions charge extra for a lost passport: Ottawa lists a CAD 400 caution or replacement fee plus a CAD 50 administrative charge. Expect a lost-passport surcharge in Dublin too and confirm the amount. Our Dublin renewal guide covers the online application and capture.

A checklist

  1. Garda report with a reference number.
  2. Copy of the lost passport's data page, or the number.
  3. NIN slip, with names matching your passport record. See retrieving your NIN slip.
  4. Birth certificate or other proof of Nigerian citizenship.
  5. Passport photographs to the embassy's specification.
  6. Flight booking, if applying for an ETC.
  7. Fee in the payment form the embassy asks for.

Protecting yourself after the loss

A lost passport can be used to try to open accounts or take over phone lines in your name. Tell your Nigerian bank that your passport is lost so it can note the record, and watch for unexpected messages about SIM swaps or new accounts. If your NIN slip was in the same wallet, you can get a fresh copy remotely. Keep the Garda reference number with you; you may be asked for it by banks as well as by the embassy.

Where Pryme fits

A lost passport often comes with a lost phone or wallet. Pryme secures sign-in with an authenticator app rather than SMS codes, plus a transaction PIN, so your account does not depend on a phone number tied to a lost SIM. Fees for the ETC or replacement can be paid from euro or US dollars held in the account. See security and multicurrency accounts. Outside Nigeria, Pryme works through regulated partners.

Questions people ask

What do I do if I lose my Nigerian passport in Ireland?

Report it to the Garda, then contact the Embassy of Nigeria in Dublin for an Emergency Travel Certificate or a replacement passport.

How long is a Nigerian Emergency Travel Certificate valid?

London says travel within 30 days of issue; Ottawa says valid for 30 days. Confirm Dublin's terms.

How much is an ETC at the Nigerian embassy?

London lists £120 and Ottawa CAD 150. We could not read Dublin's fee in October 2026.

Can I use an ETC to travel to another country?

An ETC is for returning to Nigeria, not a passport for onward travel.
