Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

A loan on your report you never took: steps to clear it

Someone borrowed in your name. The order that works: bureau fraud alert, written dispute to the lender, police report, then the data protection regulator.

The short answer

Act in this order: alert the credit bureau showing the loan and ask it to flag the entry as disputed, write to the lender with your evidence and ask it to investigate and correct the bureau record, file a police report, and, if your personal data was misused, complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Under the Credit Reporting Act 2017 the lender or bureau must answer your written complaint within 10 working days, with escalation to the CBN after that.

First, confirm what you are looking at

Before treating an entry as fraud, rule out the innocent explanations. Some lenders report under a parent company name you may not recognise, a loan you guaranteed may appear, or a stranger's records may have been merged into yours because of a similar name or a wrongly captured date of birth. All of these are still errors you can dispute, but they need a different conversation from fraud.

Look at the entry's provider, date opened, amount, and the phone number and address attached to it. An unfamiliar phone number on a loan you never took is a strong sign that someone used your identity.

Steps, in order

  1. Alert the bureau. Contact the bureau whose report shows the loan. CRC Credit Bureau's fraud page asks customers to "contact us immediately to file a fraud alert" and says its team works with credit providers to investigate; its listed contacts are support@crccreditbureau.com and +234 807 209 0622. Put the alert in writing so the 10-working-day clock in section 13 starts. Section 13(6) requires the record to show that it is under dispute while it is investigated.
  2. Write to the lender. The lender holds the original data and only it can confirm the loan was not yours. Ask what identity details and which account received the money, and request that it correct the bureau record. Section 13(1) lets you complain to the provider or the bureau; do both.
  3. Check every other bureau. Pull reports from CRC, FirstCentral and CreditRegistry. A fraudster who borrowed from one app may have tried others.
  4. File a police report. Give the lender's name, the loan details and the dates. Keep the report reference; lenders and bureaus may ask for it, and it records that you raised the matter.
  5. Secure your accounts. Change your banking passwords and PINs, check your bank for accounts you did not open under your BVN, and never share one-time codes.
  6. Complain to the data protection regulator if your data was misused. The Nigeria Data Protection Commission was established under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and that Act gives data subjects the right to complain to it. Its website sets out how to lodge a complaint.
  7. Escalate if there is no answer. If the complaint is not resolved within 10 working days, the Act says it is referred to the CBN within 3 working days, and the CBN has 10 working days to resolve it. After that, either party may go to court.

Why the lender, not only the bureau, must act

A bureau compiles what providers send it; it does not create loans. Section 13(5) of the Act says a dispute is deemed resolved when the provider that supplied the contested information admits it is inaccurate and forwards a rectified report. If you only alert the bureau, it will usually go back to the lender anyway, so writing to the lender directly saves time. Section 13(7) also makes the provider or bureau liable for costs arising from inaccurate data caused by illegal activity, gross negligence or misconduct, depending on who was at fault.

What to send

DocumentWhy it helps
Copy of the credit report with the entry markedShows exactly what is wrong
Your ID and BVN detailsProves who you are
Bank statements for the loan dateShows the money never reached your account
Your phone number historyShows the loan's number is not yours
Police report referenceRecords the fraud formally
A short written statementStates that you did not apply, sign, receive or authorise the loan

A worked timeline (example)

Example only. You email the bureau and lender on Wednesday 4 November 2026. Ten working days, excluding weekends, ends on Wednesday 18 November. If it is unresolved, the referral to the CBN is due within 3 working days, by Monday 23 November, and the CBN's 10 working days would end on Monday 7 December. Add a day for any public holiday.

Afterwards

  • Ask for your corrected report, which section 6(1)(g) says the bureau must give free of charge.
  • Check your reports again a few months later in case the entry returns at the next submission.
  • Check the enquiries section; see how to read your report. A lender you never approached may show the fraudster tried there too.
  • If a lender or its agents harass you for the debt, see your rights against harassment.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme accounts use an authenticator app rather than SMS codes, and a transaction PIN, which makes it harder for someone else to act on your account; see Pryme security. A verifiable bank statement from VerifyDoc.ai can be checked by anyone as genuine and unaltered, which helps when you need to show that disputed money never reached you.

Questions people ask

Someone took a loan with my BVN. What should I do?

Alert the credit bureau showing the loan, write to the lender, file a police report and secure your accounts. The lender or bureau must answer your written complaint within 10 working days under the Credit Reporting Act 2017.

Will I have to repay a loan I never took?

A loan you did not apply for, sign or receive is not your debt, but you need to raise the dispute and show your evidence. Take legal advice if a lender insists.

How do I report identity theft to CRC Credit Bureau?

CRC's fraud page asks you to contact it immediately to file a fraud alert, at support@crccreditbureau.com or +234 807 209 0622.

Can I report a loan app for using my data without permission?

Yes. You can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, set up under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and to the FCCPC if the app is a digital lender.
