Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

LemFi transfer pending: what each status means

In progress, In review, Completed, Failed: what each LemFi status means for a transfer to Nigeria, how long to wait, and when to contact support.

The short answer

On LemFi, "In progress" means the transfer is being reviewed, routed through partners or waiting on the Nigerian bank, and LemFi says it usually resolves within 24 hours; "In review" means LemFi needs details from you, so check your email; "Completed" means the money has been sent to the recipient's bank; "Failed" means it did not go through and you are not charged. LemFi's help centre says to contact in-app support with the transaction reference if a transfer is still not received after 24 hours.

LemFi transfers to Nigeria often land in minutes, which makes it unsettling when one sits on a status for an evening. The status tells you where the money is and who has to act next. The meanings below come from LemFi's own help centre, as updated in April and October 2026.

The statuses, one by one

In progress
LemFi's help centre says the transfer is being reviewed, is moving through its payout partners, or is waiting for the destination bank. LemFi says this usually resolves within 24 hours. No action is needed from you yet.
In review
LemFi needs more details before it can continue. Check your email and the app for a request, and reply promptly; the transfer will not move until you do.
Completed
LemFi has sent the money to the recipient's bank. If your recipient has not seen it, the delay is now on the bank side.
Failed
The transfer did not complete. LemFi says you are not charged, and money that left your LemFi balance returns to it, usually right away.

Why a transfer stays In progress

LemFi lists four common causes of delay:

  • Bank processing on the receiving side.
  • Weekends and public holidays.
  • Delays at its payout partners.
  • Security checks.

LemFi publishes a list of countries that may take extra time at weekends; Nigeria is not on it. LemFi's help article on missing money says most delays happen at the recipient's bank, and that the commonest cause of a transfer not arriving is a wrong account number or mobile money ID.

When Completed does not mean received

A Completed status with no credit is the case that frustrates families most. LemFi's answer is a session ID: which LemFi describes as the reference for a completed transfer to a Nigerian bank. The recipient gives it to their bank so the bank can trace the payment.

  1. Open Transactions in the LemFi app and select the transfer.
  2. Confirm it shows as successful.
  3. Ask in-app support for the session ID, quoting the transaction reference.
  4. Send the session ID to your recipient, who gives it to their bank.

With a session ID, the recipient's bank cannot easily say it has no record. Our guide to when the recipient's bank says no money arrived covers what to do if the bank still cannot find it.

When to contact LemFi support

SituationWhat to do
In progress for under 24 hoursWait; LemFi says this usually resolves within 24 hours
In progress for over 24 hoursContact in-app support with the transaction reference
In reviewAnswer the email request; contact support if you cannot see one
Completed but not receivedAsk support for the session ID
Failed and refund not backContact in-app support with the transaction reference

For refunds, LemFi says sign-ups in Australia and Europe are refunded to the original payment method: cards usually in 3 to 5 business days, bank payments in 1 to 2 business days. For UK, US and Canada sign-ups, failed money returns to the LemFi balance.

Sent to the wrong account?

If you notice a mistake, act within minutes. LemFi says authorised and completed transfers generally cannot be recalled; support may try if you contact it within minutes of authorising, but there is no promise. A recall after completion needs the recipient bank's approval and the money still being in the account, and LemFi says a final outcome can take at least 8 weeks. Our guide to a wrong account number on a transfer to Nigeria sets out the steps.

A worked example

Example only: you send ₦250,000 for your niece's school fees on a Friday evening. On Saturday morning it still says In progress. It has been under 24 hours, so you wait. By Saturday evening it shows Completed, but the school's bank says nothing has arrived. You ask LemFi support for the session ID, send it to the school's bursar, and the bank finds the credit against that reference.

Avoiding the common delays next time

  • Save recipients carefully. Since LemFi names a wrong account number as the commonest cause of missing money, check a new recipient's 10-digit number and bank with them before the first transfer, and reuse the saved recipient after that.
  • Keep your verification current. An In review status usually means LemFi needs something from you. If your ID has expired or you have moved, update it before a large or urgent transfer; see LemFi first-transfer verification.
  • Allow for bank cut-offs. Most delays are at the recipient's bank, so a payment due on a Monday is safer sent on the Friday before than on the Monday morning.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme is a different service: each transfer you send from a Pryme account shows the rate and the fee before you approve, and you can generate a verifiable receipt through our partner VerifyDoc.ai to show the recipient's bank or school; see receipts. A Pryme account can be opened from any country and holds naira, dollars, pounds and euros.

Questions people ask

How long does LemFi In progress last?

LemFi says In progress usually resolves within 24 hours. After that, contact in-app support with the transaction reference.

What does In review mean on LemFi?

LemFi needs more details from you. Check your email and the app and reply; the transfer waits until you do.

LemFi says Completed but my mum has not received it. What now?

Ask LemFi in-app support for the session ID and send it to her; her bank can trace the payment with it.

Do I lose money if a LemFi transfer fails?

LemFi says you are not charged for a failed transfer. Money from your LemFi balance returns to it, usually right away.
