Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Transfer to Kuda not received: how to trace it

Money sent to your Kuda account has not arrived? Check limits, the 24-hour rule and pending holds, then trace it with the sender's reference.

The short answer

If money sent to your Kuda account has not arrived, first rule out the common Kuda-side causes: a brand-new account (₦20,000 inflow cap for 24 hours), a credit above your tier's receiving limit, or a missing BVN, any of which can hold the money as pending. If none applies, ask the sender for the transaction receipt and reference, have them confirm with their bank, and report it to Kuda through chat or selfhelp.kuda.com.

Start on your side: the Kuda reasons

Kuda's help pages describe several situations in which money sent to you is held rather than credited. These are worth checking before you chase the sender.

CauseKuda ruleFix
Account opened in the last 24 hoursTotal inflow capped at ₦20,000 until 24 hours after the account number was issuedWait, then ask the sender to resend the remainder
Amount above your tierTier 1 receives up to ₦50,000 at a time; Tier 2 ₦100,000; balance caps ₦300,000 and ₦500,000Upgrade; Kuda then releases the pending transfer
No BVN confirmedTransfers can hang if Kuda cannot confirm a BVNConfirm your BVN in the app
Large inflow without IDOver ₦50,000 needs BVN plus a valid ID (NIN slip) or a utility billAdd the ID; the transfer is then credited

Kuda's "Pending or hanging transfers" page says that once you add the missing BVN or ID, "you'll receive the transfer automatically". If you have no BVN or ID, message Kuda; it says it will complete the transfer after checking where the money came from. The same page notes a transfer can also hang if Kuda cannot confirm that the sender's account has a BVN.

Then check the sender's side

Kuda's explanation of outgoing transfers shows how interbank transfers work: the sending bank passes the money through NIBSS to the receiving bank and gets a confirmation back. If the sender's bank never got a clear "delivered" response, the money may still be with their bank, waiting to complete or be reversed. Ask the sender for:

  • A screenshot of the receipt showing the status (successful, pending, failed).
  • The transaction reference or session ID.
  • The account number and bank they actually chose. "Kuda Microfinance Bank" can sit near similar names in a dropdown.
  • The exact time and amount.

A receipt alone is not proof the money arrived; fake receipts are common. See how to spot a fake transfer receipt. If the sender's app shows the transfer as pending or reversed, the trace sits with their bank, not Kuda.

If the money went to the wrong account

If the sender typed a wrong digit, the money is in someone else's account and needs that person's consent to come back under the CBN's instant transfer regulation. The sender must start that through their own bank. See wrong transfer on Kuda.

Trace it with Kuda

  1. Check your Kuda history and statement, not only notifications. Kuda says it does not send debit or credit alerts by SMS, so a missing SMS means nothing.
  2. Open chat in the app (message icon > Get Help > Chat With Us) or go to selfhelp.kuda.com > Report A Transaction.
  3. Give the sender's bank, amount, time and reference.
  4. Ask Kuda whether the credit is pending against your account because of a limit.
  5. Keep a record of the ticket and follow up in the same thread.

Kuda's contact line is 0700 022 555 832 (8am to 7pm weekdays, 8am to 5pm weekends) and email help@kuda.com.

Worked example

Example only. A client sends ₦150,000 to a freelancer's Kuda Tier 2 account. Nothing appears. The client's receipt says "successful".

  • The amount is above Tier 2's ₦100,000 receiving limit per transfer.
  • Kuda holds it as a pending transfer.
  • The freelancer completes Tier 3 (address verification) and Kuda releases the ₦150,000.
  • If the freelancer cannot upgrade quickly, a simpler fix is to ask the client to split future payments within the limit.

For sellers: confirm before releasing goods

If you sell to customers who pay by transfer into Kuda, the safest rule is simple: release goods only when the money shows in your Kuda history or balance. Kuda's own advice on fake alerts is to confirm every business transaction by checking your balance in the app, at an ATM or on your statement, and to be wary of customers who hurry you to look at a "debit alert" on their phone. Because Kuda does not send SMS alerts, any SMS claiming to be a Kuda credit is a warning sign.

Where a genuine customer's money is pending on your side because of a tier limit, upgrading clears it; tell the customer it is your limit, not their payment, that is holding things up. Our guide on confirming a transfer before staff release goods sets out a simple shop routine.

What to check first

  • Is the account less than 24 hours old?
  • Is the amount above your tier's per-credit limit or would it push you over your balance cap?
  • Has the sender's bank marked it successful, pending or reversed?
  • Did the sender use the right account number and bank?

Where Pryme fits

Businesses can give each customer a dedicated virtual account number on Pryme, so incoming payments match themselves to the payer. See virtual accounts.

Questions people ask

Why is money sent to my Kuda account not showing?

Common Kuda causes: the account is under 24 hours old, the amount exceeds your tier's receiving limit, or your BVN or ID is missing. Kuda holds such transfers as pending.

How do I receive a pending transfer on Kuda?

Kuda says to confirm your BVN, and for amounts over ₦50,000 add a valid ID or utility bill; the transfer is then credited automatically.

The sender's bank says successful but Kuda has nothing. What now?

Ask the sender for the reference and report it to Kuda via chat or selfhelp.kuda.com with the amount, time and sending bank.

Does Kuda send SMS credit alerts?

No. Kuda says alerts come as app notifications and emails only, so check the app history.
