Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Is TikTok Shop available in Nigeria? What sellers can do

Whether Nigerian sellers can open TikTok Shop as at October 2026, what lists of TikTok Shop countries show, and how sellers sell from TikTok without it.

The short answer

As at October 2026 we found no official TikTok page confirming that TikTok Shop is open to sellers in Nigeria. A published list of TikTok Shop markets names 19 countries in Asia, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Australia, with no African country. Nigerian sellers instead use TikTok videos to send buyers to WhatsApp, a website or a marketplace.

TikTok Shop lets viewers buy products inside the TikTok app, from a video, a LIVE stream or a shop tab, with TikTok handling checkout. For a seller that is attractive: the buyer never leaves the app. The catch is that TikTok opens Shop country by country, and a seller generally needs to be registered in a supported market. Here is what we could establish, and what Nigerian sellers do in the meantime.

What we could confirm

  • A guide by PhotonPay, a payments company serving cross-border sellers, lists TikTok Shop markets as 19 countries: in South-East Asia, the UK, the US, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. No African country appears.
  • TechInAfrica wrote in September 2023 about how a TikTok Shop launch could reshape Nigerian e-commerce. That piece was speculation about a possible launch, not a launch announcement.
  • We found no official TikTok seller page listing Nigeria as a seller country.

So the fair reading is: not confirmed as available. If TikTok launches Shop in Nigeria, it will appear on TikTok's own seller sign-up pages and in its newsroom. Until then, ignore offers to 'activate TikTok Shop Nigeria' for a fee.

What Nigerian sellers do instead

Video to WhatsApp

The most common route: post product videos, put a WhatsApp Business link in your bio, and take orders in chat with a catalogue. See selling with the WhatsApp Business catalogue.

Video to a website or payment link

A simple online store or a payment link lets buyers pay without haggling in chat. Paystack's Nigerian pricing page, as at October 2026, lists local card and transfer payments at 1.5% + ₦100, capped at ₦2,000, with the ₦100 waived on payments under ₦2,500, and settlement on the next working day. Compare with other options in bank transfer checkout for online sellers.

Video to a marketplace

Some sellers list on Jumia, Konga or Jiji and use TikTok to drive traffic to those listings. You give up some margin to commission but gain a checkout buyers know. See Jumia vs Konga for sellers.

Digital products

If you sell courses or ebooks, a platform such as Selar handles checkout and delivery; read Selar for Nigerian creators.

Worked example: one video, one order route (illustrative)

Example: a seller lists a ₦12,000 hair product that costs ₦7,000 and pays ₦2,000 for delivery within Lagos. Margin before payment fees is ₦3,000. Taking payment through a Paystack link at 1.5% + ₦100 costs ₦180 + ₦100 = ₦280, leaving ₦2,720. If one video brings 15 orders, the seller earns ₦40,800 after delivery and payment fees. The sales and cost figures are an example; the fee rule is Paystack's published rate as at October 2026.

Running orders from TikTok, step by step

  1. Pin a short video that shows the product, its price and how to order. Price clarity cuts the 'how much?' messages that slow everything down.
  2. Put one ordering link in your bio, either a WhatsApp Business chat or a store page, not several competing links.
  3. Prepare saved replies for price, delivery areas, delivery time and payment details.
  4. Take payment before dispatch for delivery orders, or agree pay-on-delivery only with a rider you trust to collect and remit.
  5. Confirm the credit in your own banking app, then dispatch and send the buyer the rider's details.
  6. Log each order: date, item, amount, delivery cost and whether it came from TikTok. After a month you will know which videos actually sell.
  7. Follow up a few days after delivery to ask for a review video or a comment, which feeds the next round of content.

This is more work than an in-app checkout, but it keeps the customer relationship with you, and the order log shows which content brings buyers rather than only views.

Risks to manage without TikTok Shop

  • Payment proof: without in-app checkout you confirm each payment yourself. Check your own banking app before dispatch; see confirm payment before you hand over goods.
  • Fake buyers who ask you to pay delivery to their 'rider'.
  • Customer data: phone numbers you collect are personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
  • Delivery disputes: agree in writing who pays for failed delivery.

If TikTok Shop opens in Nigeria

Watch TikTok's newsroom and seller centre. Expect a business verification step, a commission on sales and rules on shipping times. Having a registered business, clean product photos and reliable delivery partners in place now means you can move quickly.

Where Pryme fits

Sellers who take orders outside an app can use Pryme's bank-transfer checkout, free of charge, with a Pryme Business Account.

Questions people ask

Is TikTok Shop available in Nigeria?

We found no official TikTok page confirming it as at October 2026. A list of TikTok Shop markets names 19 countries and no African ones.

How can I sell on TikTok in Nigeria without TikTok Shop?

Post product videos and send buyers to WhatsApp Business, a payment link or website, or a marketplace listing.

Can I open a UK or US TikTok Shop from Nigeria?

Shop markets generally require a seller registered in that market. Using borrowed documents breaches TikTok's terms and risks frozen funds.

When will TikTok Shop launch in Nigeria?

TikTok has not announced a date in any source we found. Reports from 2023 only speculated about a launch.
