Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.
One global account for your money and business. Move across currencies, automate everyday operations and put AI agents to work — with you in control of every important decision.

BruceCareYour competitor down the road sells the same thing you sell. The difference is who walks in. We put money in people’s hands that can only be spent in businesses like yours — and then we point them at you.
You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to structure a stake in a relative's Nigerian business from the US, the records that protect you, and the US forms a foreign stake can trigger.
Put your money in as a recorded shareholding or a written loan to a registered company, not as an informal gift to a relative. Get the share allotment filed with CAC, keep a shareholders' agreement, and bring money in through a bank so you can obtain a Certificate of Capital Importation. On the US side, owning 10% or more can trigger Form 5471, and the stake can count for Form 8938.
Many Nigerians in the US back a sibling's pharmacy, a parent's shop or a cousin's logistics firm. It usually starts with a transfer and a promise. Years later, the business has grown, or failed, and nobody can say who owns what. A little structure at the start protects the relationship as much as the money. This guide covers the Nigerian side and the US reporting side; it is information, not legal or tax advice.
| Route | What you get | Main records |
|---|---|---|
| Equity (shares) | A share of profits and value, and a say in decisions | Share allotment filed with CAC, share certificate, shareholders' agreement |
| Loan | Repayment on agreed terms, with or without interest | Signed loan agreement naming the company, repayment schedule, board approval |
| Gift | Nothing legally; goodwill only | A note of the gift for your own records |
Be clear with your family which one it is. A "loan" that is never repaid and a "share" that was never recorded both end in disputes.
Many family businesses are registered with CAC as business names, which do not have shares. To hold a stake, the business usually needs to be a limited company so that shares can be allotted to you. If it is a business name today, discuss converting it or setting up a company that takes over the business. CAC also requires disclosure of persons with significant control, explained in our PSC guide.
The NIPC's FAQs say "all foreign enterprises or enterprises with foreign participation" must register with the NIPC after incorporation and before starting business, and give a processing fee of ₦150,000 for a new registration. If you invest as a Nigerian citizen this may not apply to you, but if a US-born spouse, a US company or another foreign national takes shares, check it.
Send the investment to the company's own account through a bank, in foreign currency if you want the right to take dividends or capital back out through the official market later. A law firm summary on Mondaq (September 2024) says an authorised dealer bank issues a Certificate of Capital Importation within 24 hours of the inflow and that it supports repatriation of dividends, profits and capital. Our CCI guide explains the steps.
Funmi in Chicago wants to put $20,000 into her sister's bakery in Ibadan, which trades as a business name. They agree to incorporate a limited company, transfer the bakery into it and allot Funmi 25% of the shares, with her sister holding 75% and managing day to day. The $20,000 goes from Funmi's US account to the new company's account at a Nigerian bank, which issues a CCI. A shareholders' agreement says profits are reviewed each year, Funmi gets the annual accounts, and either sister can buy the other out at a valuation set by an accountant. Because Funmi has acquired 25%, she looks at Form 5471 for that year; the company is not a CFC because US shareholders own only 25%.
IRS Form 5471 applies to certain US persons with interests in foreign corporations. The instructions include categories for a US person who acquires 10% or more of a foreign company's stock, for a US officer or director when a US person acquires 10%, for a US person who controls more than 50%, and for US shareholders of a controlled foreign corporation (CFC), which is one where US shareholders own more than 50% by vote or value. The penalty for failing to file is $10,000 per corporation per year, rising after IRS notice. Detail is in Form 5471 for US persons and the 10% reporting triggers.
Form 8938 is the other one. Its instructions list stock of a foreign corporation held for investment as a specified foreign financial asset. If you already report the company on Form 5471, you do not report it again in detail on Form 8938, but you must still say which form you filed and include its value when testing the threshold. If the business is a CFC, the US shareholders may also have income to include each year under the regime reported on Form 8992, even without receiving dividends.
A family business can run on a Pryme Business Account, which comes with a Chief of Staff and Finance, Compliance, Sales and Customer Support agents built by Pryme Intelligence. They prepare the work, a person approves above a set ceiling, and actions are recorded, which gives an investor abroad a clearer view of the books. See Business multicurrency accounts and the Finance agent.
Yes, if the business is a limited company. The shares should be allotted to you, filed with CAC and recorded in a shareholders' agreement.
A loan gives you a repayment claim; equity gives you ownership and profit share. Either works if it is written down and the company, not an individual, is the counterparty.
If you want to repatriate dividends or capital through the official market later, bringing money in through an authorised dealer bank and getting a CCI is the recognised route.
Form 5471 can apply at 10% ownership and above, and the stake can count for Form 8938. If US shareholders own more than 50%, CFC rules and Form 8992 may apply.
