Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ikeja Electric Band A feeders: how to check your feeder

How to find your Ikeja Electric feeder name, check it against the Band A list in NERC's order, and track the daily supply hours IE must publish.

The short answer

Your band follows the feeder that supplies your building, not your street name. Find your feeder name on your bill or token receipt or ask Ikeja Electric, then check it against the Band A list in NERC's July 2025 IE order (Appendix 5), which names each feeder, its business unit, the major streets it serves and its 20-hour minimum. IE must also publish each Band A feeder's rolling seven-day average supply on its website by 9:00 am daily.

Band A customers pay the highest tariff because their feeder is meant to deliver at least 20 hours of supply a day. Two houses on the same street can be on different feeders, and so in different bands. Checking your feeder tells you whether you should be paying Band A at all, and whether you are getting what you pay for.

What a feeder is, and why it sets your band

A feeder is a line from an injection or transmission substation that serves a cluster of transformers and streets. NERC's service-based tariff groups customers by the average hours of supply their feeder delivers. In Ikeja Electric's July 2025 order the bands and minimum hours are:

BandMinimum supplyIE residential (Non-MD) tariff, ₦/kWh, July 2025
A20 hours/day209.50
B16 hours/day62.48
C12 hours/day45.80
D8 hours/day31.24
E4 hours/day31.24

How to find your feeder name

  1. Look at a recent postpaid bill or prepaid token receipt. Some DisCo receipts and bills print the feeder, tariff class or service band; check every line.
  2. Check the transformer near your building. Some carry a plate with the transformer and feeder name.
  3. Call or email Ikeja Electric with your meter or account number and ask which feeder and band your account sits on. Ask for the answer in writing.
  4. Ask your landlord or estate association, who often have the feeder name from earlier complaints.

How feeder names look

In NERC's list, Ikeja Electric feeder names combine voltage, substation and feeder, for example "11-ABESANINJ-T1-IPAJA" (an 11kV feeder from the Abesan injection substation, listed under Akowonjo) or "11-Adeniyi JonesINJ-T1-Ajao" (listed under Ikeja). 33kV feeders start with 33, such as "33-OgbaTCN-MTN". Knowing this pattern helps you match what is on your receipt with the list.

Checking the Band A list in NERC's order

Appendix 5 of NERC's July 2025 Supplementary Order for Ikeja Electric (ORDER/NERC/2025/064) sets out IE's service level commitment for July 2025. For each feeder it shows the band, the feeder name, the business unit location (such as Akowonjo, Ikeja, Oshodi or Abule Egba), the names of major streets served and the minimum supply duration. The Band A section runs to about 170 feeders. Search the PDF for your street name and your feeder name; if your street appears under a Band A feeder but you are billed a different band, or the other way round, raise it with IE.

The same order shows feeders moving in both directions. One Shomolu feeder, 11-AkokaINJ-T3-Community, was ordered downgraded to Band E after recording an average of 0.00 hours, while 33-OgbaTCN-MTN in Ikeja (22.96 hours) and 33-AmuwoTCN-AMUKOKO in Oshodi (20.64 hours) were approved for upgrade from Band B to Band A from 1 July 2025. Lists change month to month, so always use the newest order.

Tracking your feeder's daily hours

  • IE must publish on its website, by 9:00 am each day, a rolling seven-day average of daily supply hours for each Band A feeder.
  • Where IE misses the committed level on a Band A feeder for two consecutive days, it must publish an explanation and a restoration timeline by 10:00 am the next day.
  • A Band A feeder that misses its commitment for seven consecutive days is automatically downgraded to its recorded level of supply.
  • NERC says it obtains Band A feeder supply data directly from IE's head-end system for near real-time monitoring.

If you think you are wrongly billed as Band A

  1. Get IE to confirm in writing which feeder and band your account is on.
  2. Check that feeder in the newest NERC or LASERC list. If it is not listed as Band A, ask IE to correct your tariff class and adjust past purchases.
  3. If it is listed as Band A but your supply log shows far less than 20 hours, ask IE about compensation and downgrade under NERC's Order on Migration (NERC/334/2022), which the July 2025 order applies.
  4. Keep the complaint reference and escalate if there is no answer.

Lagos regulation

NERC announced in December 2024 that it was transferring regulatory oversight of the Lagos electricity market to the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC), with IE to set up a Lagos subsidiary licensed by LASERC. The Guardian reported that Lagos took full control by July 2025. NERC's July 2025 IE order remains the most recent feeder list we could open; check LASERC for any later Lagos list. Our guides on checking and challenging your band and which DisCo serves your Lagos street fill in the background.

Where Pryme fits

Whatever your band, you can buy Ikeja Electric tokens through Bills in the Pryme app if your DisCo is listed.

Questions people ask

How do I know if I am on Band A Ikeja Electric?

Find your feeder name on your bill or receipt, or ask IE, then check it against Appendix 5 of NERC's latest IE order, which lists Band A feeders with the streets they serve.

Where is the Ikeja Electric Band A feeder list?

In NERC's supplementary orders for Ikeja Electric; the July 2025 order (ORDER/NERC/2025/064) lists about 170 Band A feeders in Appendix 5. Check LASERC for any later Lagos list.

Can my street be Band A and my house Band B?

Yes. Bands follow feeders, and one street can be served by more than one feeder. Ask IE which feeder your account is on.

How many hours of light should Band A get?

At least 20 hours a day on average, per the band definitions in NERC's July 2025 IE order.
