Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Spain

Homologación: getting a Nigerian degree recognised in Spain

How recognition of a Nigerian degree works in Spain: homologación or equivalencia, legalised papers, translations and the e-office closure of Oct 2026.

The short answer

Recognition of a foreign university degree in Spain is handled electronically by the Secretaría General de Universidades, now under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, whose e-office covers procedures relating to university degrees. On 22 October 2026 the ministry closed that e-office after a technical incident, suspended procedures in progress and extended their deadlines, so new and pending Nigerian applications are on hold until it reopens. Prepare your legalised and translated documents now, and check the ministry's notices for the reopening and the current fee.

Many Nigerians in Spain work below their qualifications because their degree has never been formally recognised. Recognition is not automatic and it is not the same as legalisation: legalisation proves the certificate is authentic, recognition decides what it is worth in Spain. This guide explains the choice you face, the papers a Nigerian graduate needs, and the state of the ministry's system as at late October 2026.

Homologación or equivalencia: which one you need

Spain uses two different words for recognition, and choosing the wrong one wastes months.

Homologación
Recognition of your degree as equal to a specific Spanish official degree. It matters for regulated professions, where Spanish law requires that exact qualification.
Equivalencia
Recognition of your degree as equivalent to an academic level (such as grado or máster) in a field of knowledge, without matching a specific Spanish title. It is often enough for employers, public competitions that ask for a level, or further study.

Ask the body that will rely on the recognition which one it wants. A professional college (colegio profesional) for a regulated profession will need homologación; an employer in a non-regulated field may need equivalencia or nothing at all. If you only want to study further, ask the university first: it may assess your degree for admission itself.

Where the application goes

The ministry's e-office page describes the Subsede electrónica de la Secretaría General de Universidades as the channel for electronic procedures in the university field, "such as those related to university degrees". The older universidades.gob.es pages now redirect to the main ministry site, ciencia.gob.es.

If you already have a file open and were asked to correct documents, the ministry's notice says applicants get 35 additional working days to do so, and that requests concerning files outside the e-office can go through the ministry's general electronic register. Updates will be posted on the e-office and the ministry website.

The documents a Nigerian graduate should prepare

We could not open the ministry's current procedure page, so the list below is what recognition files generally rely on rather than a ministry checklist. Use the waiting time to prepare them:

  • Degree certificate, legalised through Nigeria's Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Spanish Embassy in Abuja, because Nigeria is not in the Apostille Convention (see legalising a Nigerian degree).
  • Full academic transcript showing courses, credit units or hours and grades, legalised the same way.
  • Sworn translations into Spanish of both, done after legalisation (see traductor jurado).
  • Passport or TIE, and NIE.
  • Proof of payment of the tasa (fee), once the system shows it.

Universidad de Deusto's guide to foreign documents confirms the non-Hague chain (Education, Foreign Affairs, Spanish mission) and the translation options for documents from countries outside the EU and EHEA.

Common problems with Nigerian files

  • Transcripts without detail. A transcript that lists course titles but not hours or credit units makes comparison with a Spanish degree harder. Ask your university's registry for a detailed version before legalising.
  • Name differences. If the degree carries a maiden name or a different spelling, include evidence of the change, legalised and translated.
  • Partial legalisation. A degree stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but not by the Spanish Embassy in Abuja is incomplete; check every document carries the full chain.

Fee and timelines

We could not confirm the current tasa or the official resolution period from a ministry page, and with the e-office closed neither can be checked online today. Do not rely on figures from forums or agencies; the fee is shown when you file. Whatever the normal timeline, files are paused while procedures are suspended, so plan any job or study start with that in mind.

What to check first

  1. Whether you need homologación, equivalencia or neither, from the body that will use it.
  2. That your legalisation chain is complete before you translate.
  3. The ministry's notices page for the e-office reopening.
  4. If you have a file in progress, the deadlines in your last notification and the 35-working-day extension.

Where Pryme fits

Legalisation in Abuja is paid in naira and Spanish fees in euros. A Pryme account holds both, and Swap converts only when you choose, with the rate and fee shown before you approve.

Questions people ask

How do I get my Nigerian degree recognised in Spain?

Apply for homologación or equivalencia through the Secretaría General de Universidades e-office, with legalised and sworn-translated documents. The e-office was closed on 22 October 2026 after a technical incident.

What is the difference between homologación and equivalencia?

Homologación matches a specific Spanish degree, needed for regulated professions; equivalencia recognises an academic level in a field.

How much does homologación cost?

We could not confirm the current fee from a ministry page. It is shown when you file.

Is my homologación application paused?

The ministry said on 22 October 2026 that procedures in progress are suspended and deadlines extended until the incident is resolved.
