Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Saving for Hajj from Kano: the pilgrims board fare and timeline

How the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board collects Hajj fares, the fares it has announced with dates, and a labelled monthly savings plan.

The short answer

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board sets the Hajj fare in line with NAHCON and collects payment by a deadline. For the 2026 Hajj it fixed the fare at ₦8.2 million in September 2025, payable by 31 December 2025; a later Leadership report put a "final fare" at ₦7 million with a 25 August 2026 registration deadline. Confirm the current fare and deadline with the Board before you pay.

For many families in Kano, Hajj is the largest single expense they will ever plan. The fare is set nationally and collected by the state pilgrims board, and it can move sharply with the exchange rate because most costs in Saudi Arabia are paid in foreign currency. This guide explains how the Kano board collects fares, what it has announced, and how to build a monthly savings plan that keeps up with changes.

How the fare is set and collected

  • NAHCON (National Hajj Commission of Nigeria) sets the fare framework. The Kano board said its ₦8.2 million fare for 2026 followed a NAHCON directive.
  • The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board registers intending pilgrims, collects deposits and payments, and handles passports and seat allocation.
  • Deadlines decide whether you get a seat. The board has said pilgrims who miss deadlines may not be allocated one.

What the board has announced

ReportWhat it said
Peoples Gazette (NAN), 28 Sep 2025Fare for the 2026 Hajj fixed at ₦8.2 million; those who had paid ₦8.5 million to be refunded the difference on written request; payment to be completed by 31 December 2025
Leadership, about August 2026"Final fare" of ₦7 million; registration and passport submission deadline of 25 August 2026, with no extension

The two reports name different Directors-General (Lamin Danbappa in 2025; Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle in 2026), and the Leadership headline labels the fare as 2026 even though the deadline falls after that pilgrimage. The year it applies to is unclear from the article, so ask the board which Hajj the ₦7 million covers. Either way, the fare has changed by more than ₦1 million between announcements, so build a margin into your plan.

A worked monthly savings plan

Example only. Suppose you aim for a fare of ₦8,000,000 and want a 10% margin for changes, so a target of ₦8,800,000. Add ₦400,000 (example) for passport, vaccinations, clothing and pocket money. Total target: ₦9,200,000.

Saving periodMonthly amount (example)Check
24 months₦383,334₦9,200,000 ÷ 24 = ₦383,333.33, rounded up
36 months₦255,556₦9,200,000 ÷ 36 = ₦255,555.56, rounded up
48 months₦191,667₦9,200,000 ÷ 48 = ₦191,666.67, rounded up

A household that cannot reach these amounts can save jointly, for one family member at a time, or plan for Umrah first. Recalculate whenever the board announces a new fare.

Timeline for an intending pilgrim

  1. Two to four years before: start saving monthly and get a valid international passport (see passport office in Kano).
  2. When registration opens: register with the board through your local government pilgrims office and pay the deposit it announces.
  3. Before the payment deadline: complete the balance. Keep every receipt and the board's acknowledgement.
  4. Before departure: attend orientation, complete vaccinations and submit documents as the board directs.
  5. After the pilgrimage: watch for any refund the board announces. Keep your receipts until any refund is settled.

What to check first

  • The current fare and which Hajj year it applies to, from the board itself.
  • The deposit amount and payment deadline.
  • The official payment channel. Pay only into accounts the board names, and get a receipt.
  • Your passport expiry date.

Why the fare changes so much

Most Hajj costs, such as flights, accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, feeding and transport, are priced in foreign currency. When the naira weakens between announcement and payment, the naira fare can rise; when it strengthens, the fare can fall. That is why one Kano announcement included a refund for pilgrims who had paid more than the final fare, and why a saver should expect revisions.

  • Save with a margin. A 10% to 20% buffer above the last announced fare reduces the risk of a last-minute shortfall.
  • Review every announcement. Recalculate your monthly amount each time the board or NAHCON announces a change.
  • Keep the money separate. Money for Hajj that sits in a spending account tends to be used for other needs.
  • Plan for costs outside the fare. Passport, vaccinations, clothing, travel to the camp and personal spending are not included.

If you will save in a foreign currency to protect against naira changes, read budgeting across currencies first, and remember that the board collects the fare in naira.

Where Pryme fits

A long savings goal works best when the money is out of daily reach. Pryme's Savings Boxes include a Fixed Box for money you lock away and an Interest-free Box, which earns nothing by design, for savers who prefer that. Relatives abroad can send in their own currency and you convert with Swap when you choose. A verifiable statement from VerifyDoc.ai can show your payments if the board asks.

Questions people ask

How much is Hajj fare in Kano?

The board fixed ₦8.2 million for the 2026 Hajj in September 2025; a later report gave a ₦7 million "final fare". Confirm the current figure and the year it covers with the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

When is the deadline for Hajj payment in Kano?

For the 2026 Hajj it was 31 December 2025. A later report gave 25 August 2026 for registration. Ask the board for the current deadline.

Can I pay Hajj fare in instalments in Kano?

The reports we read did not describe instalments. Ask the board how deposits and balances can be paid.

How much should I save monthly for Hajj?

In our example, a ₦9.2 million target takes about ₦255,556 a month over three years. Adjust it when the fare changes.
