Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Kano passport office: how to apply and the fees

How to apply for a Nigerian passport in Kano: the NIS online steps, the fees since September 2025, the Kano centres and the August 2026 production change.

The short answer

You apply online on the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) portal, choose a Kano processing centre, pay, book a date and then attend for biometric capture. Since 1 September 2025 the fee for applications in Nigeria is ₦100,000 for a 32-page, five-year passport and ₦200,000 for a 64-page, ten-year passport. Since August 2026, Kano booklets are produced centrally and sent back to the Kano centres for collection.

The fees, as at October 2026

NIS announced on 28 August 2025 that fees for standard passports applied for in Nigeria would rise from 1 September 2025. Diaspora fees were left unchanged.

BookletValidityFee (applying in Nigeria)Fee (applying abroad)
32 pages5 years₦100,000US$150
64 pages10 years₦200,000US$230

These are the official booklet fees from the NIS release. Your bank or payment channel may add its own charge, which it will show before you pay. Check the NIS website before paying, because fees have been reviewed twice in two years.

Where to apply in Kano

A Nairametrics report of 5 August 2026 names two Kano passport centres: Farm Centre, Kano and Dawakin Kudu, Kano. You pick one of them as your processing centre on the portal. We could not confirm street addresses or opening hours from an NIS page, so check the centre you choose when you book your appointment, and arrive early on the day.

What changed in August 2026

An NIS internal circular of 3 August 2026 moved passport production for ten branches, including both Kano centres, to the Central Personalisation Centre, with effect from 10 August 2026. NIS denied that services in Kano had been suspended and said enrolment and biometric capture continue at local centres, with finished passports delivered back to the centres. In practice, you still apply, capture and collect in Kano; only the printing happens elsewhere. NIS gave no new timeline, so ask the centre how long collection is taking when you attend.

Steps to apply

The NIS guide to applying for a standard passport sets out the online process. In order:

  1. Go to the NIS passport portal and choose to apply for a fresh passport.
  2. Verify your NIN with your date of birth. Your name and details are drawn from your NIMC record, so fix any errors with NIMC first.
  3. Choose your processing centre (Farm Centre or Dawakin Kudu) and the booklet: 32 or 64 pages.
  4. Upload a passport photograph that meets the ICAO standard.
  5. Enter your email, contact address and next of kin.
  6. Upload the supporting documents required for your type of application.
  7. Submit, pay the fee and book a biometric enrolment appointment.
  8. Attend the centre on the booked date for fingerprints and photo, then return when your passport is ready.

If your NIN details are wrong, sort them out before you start; see NIN and BVN in Kano.

Worked example: budgeting for a family

This example uses the official booklet fees and an invented figure for incidental costs. Your actual costs will differ.

ItemExampleAmount
Parent, 64-page, 10-yearOfficial fee₦200,000
Second parent, 32-page, 5-yearOfficial fee₦100,000
Child, 32-page, 5-yearOfficial fee₦100,000
Photos, printing and transport for two tripsExample only₦15,000
Total₦415,000

₦200,000 + ₦100,000 + ₦100,000 + ₦15,000 = ₦415,000. A family saving for a summer trip would need about ₦69,167 a month for six months to cover it. If the passports are for study abroad, the visa funds will be far larger; our guide to UK student visa funds shows how to plan for them.

Avoiding touts and extra charges

  • Pay only through the official portal. Anyone offering a faster passport for an extra fee in cash is outside the process.
  • Keep your payment reference and appointment slip; you will need them at the centre.
  • Do not hand your original documents to someone outside the office to process for you.
  • If your passport is delayed, ask at the centre and quote your application ID rather than paying a go-between.

Renewals, lost passports and children

The online steps above are for a fresh standard passport. Renewal and replacement follow the same portal but ask for different supporting documents, which the portal lists by application type. Have these ready before you start so the upload step does not stall.

  • Renewal: your current or expired passport's data page.
  • Lost or stolen passport: commonly a police report and a sworn affidavit; the portal confirms what it needs.
  • Change of name after marriage: commonly a marriage certificate and evidence of the change; check the portal list.
  • Child under 18: the child's NIN, birth certificate and the consent and ID of a parent; the parent usually attends the capture.

Whatever the type, the fee is the booklet fee in the table above, and payment is made online during the application. If anyone at a Kano centre asks for money in cash for a service the portal already charged for, ask for an official receipt, and do not pay without one. The details on your passport come from your NIMC record, so a misspelt name on your NIN will be printed on your passport unless you correct it first. That is the single most common reason for a second trip.

Where Pryme fits

Saving for passport fees in a Naira Savings Box keeps the money apart from spending; see Savings Boxes. For travel itself, a Pryme account holds naira, dollars, pounds and euros, each with local account details, and you convert with Swap only when you choose; see multicurrency accounts.

Questions people ask

How much is a Nigerian passport in Kano now?

Since 1 September 2025, ₦100,000 for a 32-page, five-year passport and ₦200,000 for a 64-page, ten-year passport, according to NIS. Check the NIS site before paying, as fees are reviewed.

Where is the passport office in Kano?

Nairametrics, reporting NIS, named two Kano centres in August 2026: Farm Centre and Dawakin Kudu. Confirm the address of the centre you select when you book.

Has passport service stopped in Kano?

No. NIS said on 5 August 2026 that only production moved to the Central Personalisation Centre. Enrolment and biometric capture continue in Kano, and booklets are delivered back to the centres.

Can I apply for a passport without NIN?

No. The NIS process starts by verifying your NIN, and your details are drawn from your NIMC record.
