Ten years, one trunk

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

Grey GBP and EUR accounts for Nigerians: how they work

How Grey's pound and euro accounts work for Nigerians: sort code and IBAN details, which payment routes cost what, and withdrawing to a bank.

The short answer

Grey gives verified users GBP account details (sort code and account number, for Faster Payments, BACS or CHAPS) and EUR details (IBAN and SWIFT/BIC, for SEPA). As at October 2026, Grey's pricing FAQ lists 0.8% (minimum £2/€2, maximum £10/€10) for Faster Payments and SEPA deposits, flat fees of £15 for BACS and £25 for CHAPS, and 0.5% to withdraw GBP or EUR.

What the accounts are

Alongside USD, Grey offers pound and euro account details so you can be paid by UK and European clients, employers and platforms in their own currency. The payer sees ordinary local details and sends a domestic transfer, which is usually cheaper and quicker for them than an international wire. Grey describes itself as a financial technology company, not a bank, with banking services provided by licensed partners; the accounts are not Nigerian domiciliary accounts.

The details you get

GBP account
A sort code and account number. Grey's blog says these accept Faster Payments, BACS and CHAPS.
EUR account
An IBAN with a SWIFT/BIC code, for SEPA transfers from the euro area.
Name on the account
Your verified name. Payers in the UK increasingly see a name check before paying, so it should match your invoice.

Why local details matter to the person paying you

Without local details, a UK or European client has to send an international SWIFT payment to a Nigerian bank. That usually means a higher sending charge for them, intermediary bank deductions that come out of the amount you receive, and a wait of several days. Domestic routes such as Faster Payments in the UK and SEPA in the euro area are cheaper for the payer and, in most cases, quicker. For a client deciding between you and a freelancer in another country, being easy to pay is part of the offer.

Invoicing tips

  • Put the exact account name, sort code and account number (or IBAN and BIC) on the invoice, copied from the app, not typed from memory.
  • State the currency clearly: an invoice in GBP paid to a GBP account avoids the client's bank converting it.
  • Ask the client to pay by Faster Payments rather than BACS for smaller invoices, given the fee difference.
  • Keep each invoice and the matching deposit record together for tax and for any query from Grey.

What receiving costs, route by route

RouteWho typically uses itGrey fee (as at Oct 2026)
Faster Payments (GBP)Individuals and small firms, everyday transfers0.8%, min £2, max £10
BACS (GBP)Company payment runs and payroll£15 flat
CHAPS (GBP)Same-day, high-value payments£25 flat
SEPA (EUR)Most euro-area bank transfers0.8%, min €2, max €10

Source: Grey's help-centre pricing FAQ dated 12 May 2025. Grey's help centre also has separate deposit and withdrawal fee articles for GBP and EUR; the app shows the charge on each deposit.

Worked example

Example only. A London client pays you £500 by Faster Payments. 0.8% is £4, so £496 arrives. If their finance team pays the same £500 through a BACS run, the fee is £15 and £485 arrives. A Berlin client paying €1,500 by SEPA would incur 0.8%, which is €12, but the €10 maximum applies, so €1,490 arrives.

Getting the money out

You have three choices once pounds or euros land.

  1. Hold them. The balance stays in GBP or EUR until you act.
  2. Withdraw to a UK or euro-area bank account. Grey's pricing FAQ says GBP and EUR withdrawals cost 0.5%, with a £2/€2 minimum and £10/€10 maximum. Example only: withdrawing £300 would be 0.5% = £1.50, so the £2 minimum applies.
  3. Convert to naira and withdraw to a Nigerian bank. The rate and fee are shown before you confirm; the ₦35 NIBSS withdrawal fee Grey lists then applies. Steps are in withdrawing from Grey in naira.

The conversion fee Grey publishes on its US-to-Nigeria page is for USD to NGN (1% capped at $6). The pages we read did not state a separate figure for GBP or EUR to naira, so read the confirmation screen.

What to check first

  • Ask each client which route they pay by. Moving a small UK client from BACS to Faster Payments saves most of the £15.
  • Check whether your platform accepts a GBP or EUR account in a name registered to a Nigerian address; Upwork, for example, lets you add GBP or EUR bank methods according to Grey's own guide.
  • Decide which currency to keep. Holding pounds or euros you will spend later, such as UK school fees, avoids converting twice. Our guide dollars, pounds or euros: which to hold goes deeper.
  • Look at the identity documents the app asks for; a GBP or EUR account may need verification beyond your first sign-up.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme multicurrency account also comes with local details for GBP and EUR, beside NGN and USD, and balances stay in the currency they arrived in until you choose to Swap. The rate is shown first, the fee on its own line, and you approve.
