Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to downgrade or upgrade a GOtv package

Where to change your GOtv package, how mid-month upgrades are charged, why downgrades start at renewal, and a worked Max to Supa example.

The short answer

Change your GOtv package in the MyGOtv app or on the GOtv website. An upgrade takes effect once you pay the amount the system shows, usually the price difference for the days left; a downgrade normally starts at your next renewal, so pay for the cheaper package on your due date. Underpaying does not downgrade you and can trigger E16.

Changing your GOtv package is done from the MyGOtv app, the GOtv website or GOtv's chat channels. The timing rules matter more than the route: moving up usually takes effect once you pay the amount the system asks for, while moving down usually starts at your next renewal. MultiChoice does not publish its exact calculation on the pages we opened, so the figure shown before you confirm is the one to trust.

Routes for changing package

  • MyGOtv app: sign in, select your IUC number and choose to change package. The amount due is shown before you pay.
  • GOtv website: the same dashboard after you sign in.
  • WhatsApp and Telegram: listed by MultiChoice for GOtv account help. Take the number or handle from the app or GOtv's website.
  • Paying at renewal: many bank and app bill menus let you choose a different package when you renew. This is the simplest way to downgrade.

Upgrading: what you pay

An upgrade mid-month generally charges the difference between the two packages for the days left in your cycle. The app's figure decides it. Use the method below only to check the figure looks reasonable.

Worked example: Max to Supa with ten days left

Example only, using prices MultiChoice announced for 1 March 2025: GOtv Max ₦8,500 and Supa ₦11,400.

StepFigure
Monthly difference (₦11,400 − ₦8,500)₦2,900
Days left out of 3010
Share left (10 ÷ 30)one third
Pro-rata top-up (₦2,900 ÷ 3)about ₦967
Next full month on Supa₦11,400

If the app asks for roughly ₦967 here, it is treating the change as a pro-rata upgrade. If it asks for ₦11,400, it may be starting a fresh month on Supa. Ask on chat before paying if you are unsure. Prices may have changed since March 2025; the GOtv price history has the dated figures.

Downgrading: when it starts

Moving to a cheaper package normally applies from the next renewal, because you have already paid for the current month on the bigger package. The practical route is to wait until your due date and then pay for the cheaper package. If you pay the old, higher amount on the due date by habit, the decoder will simply continue on the bigger package.

Timing rules worth knowing

  • Keep the decoder on and on a GOtv channel while you pay, so it receives the change.
  • MultiChoice says errors cleared through its platforms take around 15 minutes to work.
  • If new channels show E16 after an upgrade, check the package shown in the app first, then use Fix Errors.
  • Upgrading a day or two before renewal costs little extra but may not be worth a separate payment; renewing straight onto the bigger package can be simpler.

Steps to downgrade cleanly

  1. Check your due date in the MyGOtv app.
  2. On or just before that date, choose the cheaper package in the app or your bank's bill menu.
  3. Pay exactly the cheaper package price shown.
  4. With the decoder on, wait about 15 minutes and confirm the package in the app.

Mistakes that cost money

  • Paying from a saved bank biller: a saved GOtv payment in a bank app often remembers the old package and amount. After changing package, update or delete the saved biller.
  • Using an outdated price list: some bill menus and websites show prices that have not caught up with MultiChoice's latest change. Pay what the MyGOtv app shows.
  • Upgrading the wrong decoder: households with two GOtv decoders have two IUC numbers. Confirm the number on the decoder you mean before paying.
  • Switching off during payment: the change is sent to the decoder, so it needs to be on to receive it.

If a payment went to the wrong package or IUC number, contact GOtv through the app's chat with the reference straight away; the longer you wait, the harder it is to move.

Choosing the right package

Before moving, check what you would lose. Sport and film channels are the usual difference between packages; see Jolli vs Jinja vs Max for the lower tiers.

Where Pryme fits

A Personal Assistant on a Pryme account (Personal Assistant) can remind you a few days before your GOtv due date, which is the moment a downgrade has to be made; it prepares the payment and nothing moves until you approve it. Payments go through TV bills.

Questions people ask

How do I downgrade my GOtv package?

Wait for your renewal date and pay for the cheaper package through the MyGOtv app or your bank or app's bill menu. A downgrade normally starts at renewal.

Can I upgrade GOtv before my subscription expires?

Yes. Change the package in the MyGOtv app and pay the amount it shows for the change, which is usually less than a full month.

Why is GOtv showing E16 after upgrading?

The account may not have moved to the new package or the amount paid did not cover it. Check the app, then use Fix Errors and wait about 15 minutes.

Will I get a refund if I downgrade GOtv mid-month?

Do not expect one; the cheaper package normally applies from the next renewal. Check the app's wording when you change.
