What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Getting NYSC certificate verification from the US

How a US employer, screening firm or evaluator can confirm your NYSC certificate, what NYSC charges, and how to keep the process moving from abroad.

The short answer

Verification of an NYSC certificate is done by NYSC itself, and its published charges (last updated 19 August 2024) are ₦20,000 for private organisations and law firms and ₦5,000 for government agencies. NYSC's pages do not list a separate category for foreign organisations or set out an online request process, so a US employer or screening firm usually writes to NYSC headquarters in Abuja with your consent, often with your help or a Nigerian agent's.

The Certificate of National Service is one of the documents Nigerian graduates are most often asked about abroad, because many Nigerian employers treat it as part of a complete CV and some overseas background checks include it. When a US employer, background-screening company or professional body wants to confirm it, the request has to reach the National Youth Service Corps in Abuja. This guide sets out what NYSC publishes about verification, as read in October 2026, and how to help the process from the US.

Which NYSC document you hold

NYSC's corps certification page lists three documents, and the verifier needs to know which one you have:

If your original is lost, NYSC issues a letter of confirmation in its place. Its price list sets the charge for loss of a Certificate of National Service or Certificate of Exemption at ₦20,000. For the exemption and exclusion rules themselves, see NYSC exemption and discharge from the US.

What NYSC charges for verification

NYSC's certificate verification price page, last updated 19 August 2024, lists:

  • Private organisations and law firms: ₦20,000
  • Government agencies: ₦5,000
  • Bulk certificate verification agents: ₦5,000
  • Security agencies: nil

There is no line for foreign employers or overseas screening firms. A US company is a private organisation, so the ₦20,000 line is the closest fit, but confirm with NYSC before anyone pays. The page also does not say how to pay or where to send a request.

How a verification usually reaches NYSC

Because NYSC does not publish an online request process for verifiers, the practical route is a written request. NYSC's headquarters is at 416 Tigris Crescent, off Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja (PMB 138, Garki), and its general email is info@nysc.gov.ng. Its certification page also gives an enquiries number, 08034313026.

  1. Ask the US requester what it needs: a written confirmation from NYSC, or just sight of your certificate with a check through its own screening partner.
  2. If NYSC must confirm, the requester (or its screening firm) writes to NYSC with your full name as on the certificate, certificate number, call-up number, year and state of service, and a copy of the certificate.
  3. Attach your signed consent. A consent letter avoids any question about whether NYSC may share your details with a third party.
  4. Agree who pays the verification charge and how. Paying a naira charge from the US is often the sticking point, so you or a Nigerian agent may need to handle it.
  5. Follow up by email and phone, and keep copies of everything sent.

Planning the time and cost

NYSC does not publish a turnaround time for verification on the pages we read, so build slack into any job offer or licence deadline. Start the moment the requester mentions NYSC, not after you have accepted the role. A simple plan:

  • Week one: confirm what the requester needs and gather your certificate, call-up letter and ID.
  • Week one or two: send the written request and consent, and arrange payment.
  • After that: follow up weekly by email, quoting your name, certificate number and the date of the request.

Example: a US hospital's screening firm asks to confirm Amaka's Certificate of National Service. She sends a scan, her call-up number and a signed consent letter, and her brother in Abuja pays the ₦20,000 private-organisation charge and delivers the request by hand. If the certificate had been lost, she would first pay ₦20,000 for a letter of confirmation, bringing her NYSC costs to ₦40,000 before courier fees. These figures are an example based on NYSC's August 2024 price list; confirm current charges with NYSC.

Where Pryme fits

NYSC's charges are in naira. A Pryme account lets you hold NGN next to USD, so you or a relative can pay a verification or collection charge from the US with Send, after checking the rate and fee the app shows. Questions people ask

How much does NYSC charge to verify a certificate?

NYSC's price page, last updated 19 August 2024, lists ₦20,000 for private organisations and law firms and ₦5,000 for government agencies. It has no separate line for foreign organisations.

Can a US employer verify my NYSC certificate online?

NYSC's pages we reviewed do not describe an online verification process for employers. The usual route is a written request to NYSC headquarters with your consent.

What if I lost my NYSC certificate?
