Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

FTC fee rule for hotels and events: where AI agents fit (US)

The FTC rule on hidden fees for lodging and live-event tickets in general terms, and how AI agents can keep quotes and replies consistent with it.

The short answer

The FTC's Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees, in effect since 12 May 2025, requires US businesses selling short-term lodging or live-event tickets to show the total price, including mandatory fees, clearly and prominently. AI agents that quote prices or answer customers must quote that total and disclose fees accurately, so the price rules they use should be checked against the rule, and any state laws, by an adviser.

Hotels, vacation rentals, venues and ticket sellers in the US have had a federal rule on fees since 12 May 2025. The Federal Trade Commission's Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees targets "drip pricing", where a lower price is advertised and mandatory fees are added later. For a small business that uses AI agents to answer guests, send quotes or run booking chats, this matters: an agent that quotes a nightly rate without the resort fee could put the business in breach.

This is a general summary, not legal advice. Read the rule and take advice for your business and state.

The rule in general terms

PointGeneral position (check the rule)
Who it coversBusinesses offering, displaying or advertising short-term lodging (such as hotels, motels and vacation rentals) or live-event tickets
Total priceThe total price, including mandatory fees, must be shown, and more prominently than other pricing information
What can be shown separatelyGovernment charges such as taxes, and shipping charges, can be excluded from the total but must be disclosed
Fee disclosuresThe nature, purpose and amount of fees must be disclosed before the customer is asked to pay
MisrepresentationFees must not be misrepresented, for example by calling a mandatory fee optional
Effective date12 May 2025

Why agents raise the stakes

An AI agent answering guests or ticket buyers can send hundreds of prices a day. If its price source omits a mandatory fee, the same mistake is repeated in every reply. That is a reason to configure agents carefully, not to avoid them: a well-configured agent quotes the same correct total every time, which a busy front desk does not always manage.

  • The agent should quote prices only from a price source that already includes mandatory fees.
  • Every quote should show the total first, then any taxes and shipping that may be shown separately.
  • Fee descriptions should come from approved wording, not be paraphrased on the fly.
  • Questions such as "is the resort fee optional" should be answered from the written policy, never guessed.
  • Promotional prices should be reviewed by a person before the agent uses them.

Setting up the price rules

  1. List every fee you charge, and mark each one mandatory or optional, with your adviser's view on how each is treated under the rule.
  2. Build the total-price figure for each room type, date range or ticket tier from that list.
  3. Load that figure, and approved fee wording, as the only source the agent may quote from.
  4. Set a ceiling: discounts and package prices outside a band go to a person before they are quoted.
  5. Review a sample of the agent's quotes each week for the first month, checking totals and wording.
  6. Re-check the rules whenever you add a fee or change a price structure.

This is a good example of an agent working inside a mandate. It may quote within the rules it has been given; anything else is raised to a named person. For how to decide what should always reach a person, see human in the loop: decisions a person should make.

Live events and venues

Venues and promoters face the same total-price principle for tickets, with a few practical twists. Ticket tiers multiply the number of prices to keep right. Service and facility fees are often set by a ticketing partner rather than the venue. And promotional codes change the total at short notice. An agent answering ticket questions needs a single, current price table per event that already includes every mandatory fee for each tier.

  • One price table per event, with totals per tier including mandatory fees.
  • Approved wording for each fee, describing what it is for.
  • A rule that the agent quotes only from that table, and refers any price it cannot find to a person.
  • A check, by a person, whenever the ticketing partner changes its fees.

Group bookings and private hire are different: they are usually quoted individually. Here the agent drafts the quote from your rules and a person approves it, with the total shown first.

Worked example

Example only, invented figures. A 20-room inn in Vermont charges a nightly rate of USD 180 plus a mandatory USD 25 amenity fee, and state and local taxes.

Guest asks
How much is a Saturday night in a queen room?
Non-compliant reply
"From $180 a night." The amenity fee appears only at checkout.
Agent reply from the price source
Total USD 205 per night, including the USD 25 amenity fee (covering parking and breakfast). Taxes are added at the applicable rate and shown before payment.
Discount request
The guest asks for 20 percent off a three-night stay. Outside the band; raised to the manager with the thread.

Where Pryme fits

On a Pryme Business account, the Sales agent drafts quotes from your live pricing rules and will not price above band alone, and the Customer Support agent answers only from the policies you load, with the source attached. The Compliance agent can hold the rule review on its register. Pryme's activities outside Nigeria are carried out through regulated partners. For a hotel overview see AI agents for small hotels, or open an account.

Questions people ask

What is the FTC junk fees rule for hotels?

The FTC's Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees requires businesses offering short-term lodging or live-event tickets to show the total price including mandatory fees prominently, and to disclose fees accurately. It took effect on 12 May 2025.

Can taxes be left out of the total price under the rule?

Government charges such as taxes, and shipping charges, may be excluded from the total but must still be disclosed. Check the rule and take advice.

Does the rule apply to AI chat replies and emailed quotes?

The rule covers offering, displaying and advertising prices, so any price your agent quotes should follow it. Take advice on your specific channels.

How do I stop an AI agent quoting the wrong price?

Give it one approved price source that already includes mandatory fees, approved fee wording, and a ceiling that sends discounts and unusual requests to a person.
