Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

Fresh graduate loans in Nigeria: what lenders accept

No payslip yet? What Nigerian lenders accept from fresh graduates, which youth schemes exist, and how to keep the cost of a first loan small.

The short answer

A fresh graduate without a regular salary will usually be turned down for bank personal loans, which ask for months of salary history, but can access small digital loans, guarantor-backed loans and youth schemes such as the NYIF, whose 2020 framework capped loans at ₦250,000 for individuals at 5% a year. What lenders accept is evidence: a confirmed job offer, steady account inflows, a clean credit report or a guarantor with income.

Why most bank loans are closed to you at first

Nigerian banks build personal lending around a salary they can see. Stanbic IBTC's loan FAQ, for example, lists a Stanbic account held for at least six months, three months of payslips, six months of statements and an employer on its eligible list. Access Bank's personal loan asks for an employer confirmation form and evidence that you have been confirmed in the job. A graduate fresh from school or service has none of that yet, so the answer at most banks is no, however strong the degree.

That is not a judgement on you. It is how the product is built: the bank lends against an income stream it can deduct from or set off against. Until you have that, you are borrowing on other kinds of evidence, and the menu is smaller and usually dearer.

What lenders will accept instead of a payslip

When there is no salary history, a lender looks for something else that predicts repayment. These are the items that move a decision, roughly in order of strength:

  • A signed offer letter with a start date. Some lenders will consider an applicant whose first salary is weeks away, especially if the salary will be paid into an account with them. Ask directly; it is not always written on the product page.
  • Regular inflows into one account. Freelance income, a stipend or family support that lands on the same account every month is evidence. Six months of statements from one account tell a clearer story than three accounts with scattered credits. See our guide to the bank statement for a loan application.
  • A clean credit report. Under the Credit Reporting Act 2017 you are entitled to one free report a year from each bureau. CRC Credit Bureau gives it with the code FREEREPORT (as at Oct 2026). A thin file is normal for graduates; an unpaid loan-app balance from university is the real problem.
  • A guarantor with income. A parent, sibling or relative in paid work who signs for you can make a loan possible. They are taking on your debt if you do not pay, and the loan can appear on their credit report too.
  • A registered business or a training certificate, for youth enterprise schemes rather than personal loans.

The routes that exist for a graduate

Digital lenders and microfinance banks

Loan apps are the most accessible route because they score on phone and account data rather than salary. First amounts are small and the cost per month is high. Before using any app, check that the lender is on the FCCPC's register of approved digital money lenders (the page was last updated on 3 March 2026), and remember that the FCCPC's 2025 digital lending regulations, which require full disclosure of interest, repayment terms and fees before you accept, have been enforced again since 20 July 2026 after a court ruling. Our guide on checking an app on the FCCPC register shows how.

Youth enterprise funds

If what you need is money to start working for yourself rather than money to live on, youth funds are a better fit than consumer loans. The Nigerian Youth Investment Fund framework, released by the CBN in October 2020, set loans at up to ₦250,000 for individuals and ₦3 million for registered businesses, at 5% a year all-inclusive, with up to five years to repay and up to one year's moratorium, through NIRSAL Microfinance Bank. Whether new applications are open today is not confirmed; see our NYIF explainer and business loans after NYSC before applying.

Family loans, cooperatives and thrift

A written family loan with a repayment plan costs nothing in interest and builds discipline. If you join a workplace or community cooperative once you are employed, loans usually follow a period of regular contributions.

Worked example: what a first loan costs

The figures below are an example, not any lender's price. Suppose a loan app offers a graduate ₦50,000 for 30 days with a 15% charge.

ItemExample figure
Amount received₦50,000
Charge for 30 days (15%, example)₦7,500
Total to repay on day 30₦57,500
Same charge as a simple annual rate (15% x 12)180% a year

For comparison, the NYIF framework's 5% a year on ₦250,000 would be about ₦12,500 of interest for a full year if worked on a simple basis. The two products do different jobs, but the gap shows why a scheme is worth the paperwork when it fits. The CBN's own data put the average maximum lending rate at banks at 29.20% a year for August 2026, which gives you a sense of where bank pricing sits.

What to check first

  1. Order your free credit report and clear or dispute anything left from university.
  2. Pick one account and route every inflow through it for at least three months.
  3. If you have an offer letter, ask the employer's bank and your own bank whether they lend to new staff.
  4. Check any app on the FCCPC register and read the full repayment amount before accepting.
  5. If you plan a business, register it with the CAC first; most enterprise schemes lend to registered businesses.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme is not a lender. A Pryme Personal Account can help you build the record lenders read: you can generate a verifiable statement through our partner VerifyDoc.ai that anyone can check is genuine and unaltered (see receipts and statements). Your Personal Assistant can set reminders for repayments so nothing slips while you settle into work.

Questions people ask

Can I get a loan as a fresh graduate with no job in Nigeria?

Bank personal loans are unlikely without salary history. Small digital loans, a guarantor-backed loan or a youth enterprise scheme are the realistic routes. Check any app on the FCCPC register first.

Can I use my offer letter to get a loan?

Some lenders will consider a signed offer letter with a start date, especially if your salary will be paid into an account with them. It is rarely written on product pages, so ask the bank directly.

What loan can a graduate get without collateral?

Most loans open to graduates are unsecured: app loans, guarantor loans and scheme loans such as the NYIF, whose 2020 framework allowed GSI and guarantees rather than property as security.

Does a loan app debt from university affect me now?

Yes, if the lender reported it to a credit bureau. Check your free annual report and settle or dispute the entry before applying for a bank loan.
