Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.
One global account for your money and business. Move across currencies, automate everyday operations and put AI agents to work — with you in control of every important decision.

You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

No card, no OTP, nothing for the buyer to type in. They transfer from the bank app they already use, and the money lands in the same account your agents are running — already matched to the order, already in your books.
We give the buyer a one-time account number. They transfer to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in.

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Lagos Land Use Charge is a property tax, so the CRA does not give a foreign tax credit for it. If the property is rented, it is deducted as an expense.
No. Lagos Land Use Charge is levied on property, not on net income, and the CRA's foreign tax credit folio S5-F2-C1 (modified March 2026) says property or real estate taxes generally do not qualify for the foreign tax credit. If the Lagos property is rented out, the charge can instead be claimed as a property tax expense against the rental income on your Canadian return; if it is your own or family's home, there is no Canadian relief for it.
Lagos Land Use Charge (LUC) is the state's consolidated property levy. It is billed to property owners each year. The Lagos government said in its 2026 bill announcement, reported by TheNigeriaLawyer on 5 March 2026, that landlords, not tenants, are responsible for paying it, and that a 15% discount applies for early payment within the stated period. The 2020 amendment law, as summarised by Nairametrics in August 2020, set the charge as a percentage of the property's value: for example 0.0394% for owner-occupied residential property and 0.394% for residential property that is not owner-occupied or is commercial.
That structure is the whole answer to the Canadian question. LUC is worked out from the value and use of the property. It is not worked out from your rent, your profit or your income. If you need the Nigeria-side detail on bills and payment channels, see Lagos Land Use Charge: who pays, discounts and penalties.
The foreign tax credit under section 126 of the Income Tax Act is for foreign income or profits tax. The CRA's Income Tax Folio S5-F2-C1 explains how it decides. The name a foreign government gives a tax is not decisive (paragraph 1.7); if the basis of taxation is substantially similar to an income tax, it is accepted. But paragraph 1.9 lists taxes that are not levied on net income or profits and so generally will not qualify. The list includes:
Land Use Charge falls squarely in the first category. Claiming it on Form T2209 as Nigerian tax paid would overstate your credit, and the CRA can reassess the claim. The same reasoning applies to other Nigerian property-based levies, such as tenement rates, which are charged on property rather than income.
If the Lagos property earns rent, the Land Use Charge is a cost of earning that rent. The CRA's T4036 Rental Income guide (modified 27 March 2026) lists property taxes as a deductible rental expense, reported on line 9180 of Form T776. You report the rent you receive from the property, then deduct the property taxes, along with other current expenses such as repairs, insurance, interest and agents' fees.
Do not confuse this with the Nigerian tax actually charged on the rent. Tax withheld or assessed on rental income is an income tax, so it can count for the foreign tax credit, within the limits in the folio. The foreign tax credit for non-business-income tax is generally the lesser of the foreign tax paid and the Canadian tax on that foreign income, worked out country by country. See Lagos rental tax and the Canadian credit for that side.
Example only. Tunde, resident in Ottawa, rents out a flat in Surulere. In the year he receives rent of ₦3,000,000, the tenant's company withholds ₦300,000 of Nigerian tax on the rent, and he pays an LUC bill of ₦150,000. Assume, for easy arithmetic, that C$1 = ₦1,000 on each relevant day; on a real return each amount is converted to Canadian dollars at the exchange rate for its own day.
| Item | Naira | CAD (example rate) | Canadian treatment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gross rent | ₦3,000,000 | C$3,000 | Reported on T776 |
| Land Use Charge | ₦150,000 | C$150 | Deducted as property tax (line 9180) |
| Net rent before other expenses | ₦2,850,000 | C$2,850 | Included in income |
| Nigerian tax withheld on rent | ₦300,000 | C$300 | Considered for the foreign tax credit (T2209) |
Check: 3,000 − 150 = 2,850. The C$150 of LUC reduces taxable rental income; it is not added to the C$300 claimed as foreign tax. The withheld C$300 is not deducted from the rent either: you report the gross rent and claim the credit separately.
If the Lagos house is your own holiday home, or your parents live in it rent-free, there is no rental income to deduct the charge from, and the folio rules it out as a creditable tax. In that case LUC is simply a personal cost of owning the property. Keep the bills and receipts anyway: they show ownership and use, which can matter for other Canadian reporting questions about the property.
Two related deductions are sometimes suggested. Subsection 20(12) lets you deduct non-business-income tax that you choose not to credit, and subsection 20(11) lets individuals deduct foreign tax on property income above 15% of that income (folio paragraphs 1.22 to 1.24). Both apply to foreign income or profits tax, so neither turns Land Use Charge into a deduction where there is no rent.
Paying a Lagos bill from Canada is easier when the naira is already in place. A Pryme account holds naira alongside US dollars, pounds and euros, and Send pays a Nigerian account with the rate and fee shown before you approve. Every payment carries a dated record, and you can generate a verifiable receipt with VerifyDoc.ai through Receipts to sit with your LUC bill in your records.
Generally no. The CRA's folio S5-F2-C1 lists property or real estate taxes among levies that are not income or profits taxes, so they do not qualify for the credit.
Yes, if the property is rented: it is a property tax expense against the rental income on Form T776. If you do not rent the property out, there is no deduction.
Yes. Tax charged on the rent is an income tax and can be considered for the foreign tax credit, within the CRA's limits.
The Lagos government's 2026 announcement says landlords, not tenants, must pay it.

You pay tax in Nigeria on rent from a Lagos property. Here is how that tax becomes a credit against Canadian tax on the same rent, and its limits.
