Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Evaluating a UK degree in Nigeria: the FME process

The Federal Ministry of Education evaluates foreign degrees for Nigerian jobs, admission and NYSC. What it asks for, what it says it costs, and timing.

The short answer

The Federal Ministry of Education's Evaluation and Accreditation Division evaluates foreign qualifications, including UK degrees, "for employment and admission purposes" in Nigeria. Its page asks for the degree certificate, transcript, O level results with five credits including English and Mathematics, your international passport and an admission letter, and gives an average processing time of one to two working days. Since March 2026 NYSC has also required foreign certificates to clear this evaluation desk before mobilisation.

What FME evaluation is for

When you return to Nigeria with a UK degree, a Nigerian employer, a university admitting you for further study or NYSC may want to know that the qualification is real and what Nigerian level it sits at. The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) is the government body that answers that question. Its Evaluation and Accreditation Division, part of the Department of Education Support Services, lists four activities on its page:

  • Evaluation of local and foreign qualifications for employment and admission.
  • Authentication of Nigerian academic and professional qualifications for people going abroad to study.
  • Eligibility letters for candidates travelling abroad to study or work.
  • No-objection letters for institutes and other educational bodies.

A UK degree holder coming home is in the first group. The authentication service is for the opposite journey: Nigerian certificates going abroad.

Why NYSC now sends people here first

Leadership reported on 18 March 2026 that NYSC had posted on its official Facebook page that "all foreign certificates must be cleared through the evaluation desk" before mobilisation, and that graduates with overseas qualifications would not be mobilised without that evaluation. NYSC's own page for foreign-trained graduates also says it may refer any questionable institution or document to the FME for verification. If you plan to serve, treat the FME step as the first one.

What to bring

The division's page lists these for evaluation:

  1. Your degree certificate (originals, with copies).
  2. Your transcript. Ask your UK university for a printed, signed and stamped official transcript; a downloaded file may not be accepted by the FME or by NYSC, which rejects downloaded transcripts outright.
  3. O level certificates showing five credits including English and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.
  4. Your international passport.
  5. Your admission letter from the UK institution.

Bring your UK visa evidence or travel history too. It is not on the FME list, but NYSC asks foreign graduates for passport pages showing when they left and returned, and the same evidence answers questions about whether you were in the UK during the course.

Cost, timing and where to go

The page lists an evaluation fee of ₦500, an authentication fee of 300 per page and 500 per eligibility letter. The page is undated, so treat these figures as the ones published there rather than a confirmed current price, and ask the division before you travel. It gives an average processing time of one to two working days and an office on the 8th floor, rooms 801 to 803, with phone numbers 0703 377 8053, 0906 952 9414 and 0803 307 1465, and a SERVICOM unit for complaints. It also warns in capitals not to patronise or seek the help of touts or agents.

Steps for a returnee

  1. Before leaving the UK, order printed official transcripts and make sure you hold the original degree certificate, not only a digital copy.
  2. Call one of the division's numbers to confirm the current fee, opening days and whether you need to book.
  3. Go in person with originals and photocopies of everything on the list.
  4. Collect the evaluation and keep several certified copies; NYSC, employers and later admissions may each ask for one.
  5. If your name differs between documents, bring the evidence of the change, such as a marriage certificate or a sworn affidavit.

A returnee with a UK degree needs the FME route. A UK resident with a Nigerian degree uses UK ENIC. Some people need both at different points in a career.

Where Pryme fits

Moving home after a UK degree means paying Nigerian costs while some income may still arrive in pounds. A Pryme account holds both, with local details for each, and Swap converts only when you choose, with the rate and fee shown first. When you start work, a verifiable statement through VerifyDoc.ai can help with tenancy or employer checks. Related: NYSC mobilisation for UK graduates and UK ENIC fast track costs.

Questions people ask
