Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United Arab Emirates

Emirates ID for Nigerian residents: fees and renewal

Emirates ID renewal for Nigerian residents: AED 100 per year of residence plus a AED 100 smart fee, five days to process, AED 20 a day if late.

The short answer

For residents, ICP charges AED 100 for each year of residence on the Emirates ID plus a AED 100 smart application fee, and the renewal takes about five days. Non-UAE nationals can renew once the card is within six months of expiry; renewing late costs AED 20 for each day of delay, up to AED 1,000.

The Emirates ID is the card that ties a resident to almost everything in the UAE: bank accounts, phone lines, the credit bureau app, tenancy registration and health services. For Nigerians on a residence visa the card follows the residence, so the cost is set by how many years of residence it covers. The figures below come from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) service page for identity card renewal.

The fees

ItemFee (AED)Note
Card fee for residents100 per year of residenceA two-year residence means AED 200
Smart application fee100Charged on the application
Urgent service150Only at service centres, collected in person
Late renewal fine20 per dayAfter the permitted renewal period, capped at 1,000
Late reporting of data changes20 per dayAfter 30 days from the change, capped at 1,000

Typing centres and couriers may add their own charges, which the ICP page does not list. The figures here are as shown on ICP's page in October 2026; check the page or the ICP app for today's fees before you pay.

A worked example

Example only. Funmi renews a two-year residence and Emirates ID together. The card costs AED 100 x 2 = AED 200, plus the AED 100 smart application fee, so AED 300 before any typing-centre or courier charge. If she uses the urgent service the total is AED 450. Had she renewed 30 days after the permitted period, the fine would be AED 20 x 30 = AED 600; at 60 days it would hit the AED 1,000 cap rather than AED 1,200.

When and how to renew

  • Timing. ICP lets non-UAE nationals renew once the card has less than six months to run, or after it has expired.
  • Passport. It must be valid for at least three months. If your Nigerian passport is close to expiry, renew it first; see Nigerian passport renewal at the Dubai consulate.
  • Photo. A recent photograph, which must not be the same as the one on your current card.
  • Who applies. The holder, or the head of the family, a guardian or a legally authorised representative.
  • Channels. The ICP website and app, which run 24/7, or customer happiness centres across the emirates. Urgent applications must start at a centre.
  • Delivery. Standard cards come by authorised courier; urgent cards are collected from the centre.
  • Time. ICP gives five days to complete the service.

New passport? Report the change

When you renew your Nigerian passport, the passport number on your UAE records changes. ICP charges AED 20 a day, up to AED 1,000, for reporting data changes more than 30 days after they happen. Move your residence details to the new passport promptly; see transferring your UAE visa to a new Nigerian passport.

If the card lapses

An expired Emirates ID causes practical problems as well as a fine, because banks, phone providers and other services link your records to it. The fine itself is AED 20 a day after the permitted period, capped at AED 1,000. Your residence visa is a separate status. u.ae's general provisions note grace periods of up to six months, depending on the resident category, after a visa is cancelled or expires; the length depends on your category, so confirm yours.

When you leave the UAE for good

The National's guide to leaving the UAE notes that visa cancellation is done by the sponsor and the Emirates ID is handed over. Deal with bank accounts and cards before that point; the same guide says banks expect debts cleared and a no-liability letter issued before an account is closed. See leaving the UAE with a loan or card debt.

What to check first

  • Expiry dates of your passport, residence and Emirates ID, side by side.
  • Whether your employer's PRO handles renewal or you do it yourself.
  • The fee shown in the ICP app before paying.
  • That your bank and phone provider have the renewed card.

Where Pryme fits

Set a reminder with your Personal Assistant six months before your Emirates ID and passport expire. A Pryme account opened from the UAE also keeps naira and dollars in one place for costs that fall due at home, such as passport fees paid in Nigeria. Naira held with Pryme sits with a licensed Nigerian microfinance bank, regulated by the CBN and insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit. Outside Nigeria, Pryme's activities are carried out through regulated partners.
