Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Bills

Eko Electric (EKEDC) USSD code for tokens

EKEDC does not publish its own USSD code. These are the bank USSD strings for Eko tokens we could confirm, and the official channels EKEDC lists.

The short answer

EKEDC's website (checked October 2026) does not publish a USSD code of its own; it lists web, app and partner channels instead. You can still buy an Eko token by USSD through some banks: FCMB's *329*3*amount*meter number# (per Kuda, October 2025) and Unity Bank's *7799*4*meter number*amount# (per Unity's own page) are two published examples.

Does EKEDC have its own USSD code?

Not that EKEDC publishes. We checked Eko Electricity Distribution Company's homepage, help centre and payment channels page in October 2026. They point customers to the EKEDC website's Make Payment option, the Eko Power App (which EKEDC describes as handling tokens, bills, remote load, bulk pay and service requests), the Selfcare portal, and a list of authorised vending partners. None of these pages gives a USSD string for EKEDC itself.

Codes that circulate on social media as "the EKEDC USSD code" are usually a bank's or a vendor's code. That is not necessarily a problem, but you should only use a string that the bank or vendor itself publishes, because a wrong string can send money to the wrong biller or fail with the money already debited.

Bank USSD strings for Eko tokens we could confirm

BankString as publishedSource and date
FCMB*329*3*amount*meter number#Kuda's list of bank USSD codes, 17 Oct 2025 (secondary; confirm with FCMB)
Unity Bank*7799*4*meter number*amount# (Eko)Unity Bank's *7799# page, undated
Polaris Bank*833*2# then choose electricityPolaris *833# page, last modified Sept 2023

Notes on each

  • FCMB: the string comes from Kuda's published list, not FCMB's own page, so check FCMB's current USSD menu (*329#) before relying on it.
  • Unity Bank: Unity's page also lists *7799*5*meter*amount# for Ikeja Electric, the same pattern used elsewhere on the page for BVN, so read the menu prompts carefully. Unity and Providus Bank have merged as ProvidusUnity; check whether the code still works under the merged bank.
  • Polaris Bank: the bills menu covers electricity alongside other billers. Polaris's page listed a ₦105 charge for electricity payments by USSD when last updated in 2023; treat that as dated and check the charge shown before you confirm.

Other banks also offer electricity payments in their USSD menus. If your bank is not listed here, dial its main USSD code and look for Bills, then Electricity, then Eko or EKEDC, rather than trying a string from an unofficial list.

How to buy an Eko token by USSD, step by step

  1. Have your meter number ready (it is on the meter and on old receipts). Postpaid customers use the account number instead.
  2. Dial your bank's published code from the phone number registered to your account.
  3. Choose Bills or Electricity, then Eko Electric or EKEDC, and Prepaid or Postpaid.
  4. Enter the meter number and amount when asked.
  5. Check the customer name the menu returns. If it does not match the name on your meter account, stop.
  6. Approve with your USSD PIN.
  7. Wait for the token by SMS. Write it down before keying it in.

If the token does not arrive

USSD sessions time out and SMS can be delayed. Before paying again:

  • Check your bank statement or app to see whether the debit went through.
  • Ask the bank to resend the token or check the transaction reference.
  • If the debit went through but no token was issued, raise it with the bank first, since it holds the payment record.
  • If a token was issued but will not load, see EKEDC token rejected: causes and fixes.

EKEDC's own customer care lines are 0708 067 1170 and 0700 123 5666, Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm, as listed on its website.

USSD or app: which to use

USSD works on any phone without data, which matters during outages when phones are low and Wi-Fi is down. Apps and websites usually show more detail before you pay, such as the customer name, tariff class and any service charge, and keep a record you can search later. For a full comparison of channels, see how to buy an EKEDC token: every channel compared. If you are new to prepaid meters, how prepaid electricity tokens work covers the basics.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not offer a USSD code. In the Pryme app you can buy Eko tokens under electricity payments, with the meter name and the charge shown before you approve, and the token kept in your history.

Questions people ask

What is the USSD code for Eko Electric?

EKEDC does not publish its own USSD code. Banks offer Eko payments in their menus, for example FCMB *329*3*amount*meter# (per Kuda) and Unity Bank *7799*4*meter*amount#.

Can I buy EKEDC token without internet?

Yes, through a bank's USSD menu on the phone number linked to your account, or from an authorised agent.

Why did my USSD electricity payment not give a token?

The session may have timed out or the SMS been delayed. Check whether you were debited, then ask your bank to resend or reverse it before paying again.

Does GTBank 737 work for Eko tokens?

GTBank's 737 features page did not list an electricity string when checked. Dial *737# and look for a bills option, or use the GTBank app.
