Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to report a fault or outage to EEDC

The channels EEDC lists for faults and complaints, how to get a reference, what NERC rules say, and who to call in Enugu State under MainPower.

The short answer

Report an EEDC fault or outage through the complaint portal at complaint.myeedc.com, the customer complaint form on enugudisco.com, or the lines EEDC printed on its July 2024 tariff notice (084 700 100, and WhatsApp or SMS on 0815 082 6060 and 0815 082 6061), and ask for a reference. In Enugu State the distributor is MainPower, so report there first and escalate to the state regulator, EERC, if the fault is not dealt with.

When the lights go out across a street, someone has usually already reported it. When only your house is dark, or a cable is sparking, the report has to come from you, and how you make it decides how fast it is logged and whether you can follow it up. This guide lists the channels EEDC publishes, what to tell them, and how to escalate.

First, work out what kind of outage it is

What you seeLikely causeFirst step
Whole area dark, neighbours tooFeeder or transformer outage, or load sheddingCheck EEDC's social channels; report once with your feeder or area name
Only your home dark, neighbours onYour meter, service cable or breakerCheck your breaker and meter credit; then report with your meter number
Prepaid meter shows zero or a messageCredit finished or meter faultTop up or see EEDC meter error codes
Sparking cable, fallen pole, burning smellDangerous faultKeep people away, do not touch, report immediately as an emergency
Low voltage, appliances strugglingOverloaded transformer or loose connectionReport with times and photos of the meter voltage reading if your meter shows it

EEDC's channels

These are the channels we found on EEDC's own pages in October 2026:

  • Complaint portal: complaint.myeedc.com, linked from the EEDC homepage and its customer care page.
  • Customer complaint form and feedback form: under Contact Us on enugudisco.com.
  • Phone and WhatsApp: EEDC's July 2024 tariff notice, still posted on its Current Tariff page, gives 084 700 100 for enquiries and 0815 082 6060 and 0815 082 6061 for WhatsApp or SMS. The homepage also shows a banner headed "Our New WhatsApp Lines" whose numbers are in an image we could not read, so the lines may have changed; check the banner on enugudisco.com.
  • Social media: @enugudisco on Facebook and X, and @enugu_disco on Instagram, per the same July 2024 notice.
  • Band A response team: EEDC's website has a Feeder Compliance section with a response team page for Band A feeders.
  • District office: EEDC lists districts in Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi; your bill shows yours.

What to say when you report

  1. Your name, phone number and full address with a landmark.
  2. Your meter number (prepaid) or account number (postpaid), and your feeder name if you know it; it appears on EEDC's Band A feeder list for Band A customers.
  3. What happened and when: the time supply went off, whether neighbours are affected, any noise or sparks.
  4. Photos or a short video if safe.
  5. Ask for a complaint or ticket reference, and write down the date, time and the name of the person who took the report.

Enugu State: MainPower and EERC

In Enugu State, MainPower is EEDC's subsidiary for distribution (TechEconomy, July 2025), and EEDC's Band A feeder report of 18 October 2026 lists the Enugu districts (Abakpa, Awkunanaw, Ninth Mile, Nsukka and Ogui) under MainPower. The state regulator is the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission. In June 2025, EERC published info@eerc.en.gov.ng and 09122642755 for customers with unresolved refund issues (ThisDay, 3 June 2025). See EEDC and MainPower complaints for the escalation route.

Staying safe while you wait

  • Switch off sensitive appliances at the socket when supply is unstable, and switch the main breaker off if voltage swings are severe.
  • Never climb a pole, touch a fallen line or let anyone who is not from the distributor work on the network near your home.
  • If someone claiming to be from EEDC or MainPower asks for payment to fix a fault, ask for staff ID and an official invoice; report requests for cash through the complaint portal.
  • If a generator is running during the outage, keep it outdoors and away from windows.

If it is not fixed

Follow up with the reference after a reasonable time. For Band A customers, the band is a promise of supply hours: EEDC's tariff notice describes Band A as 20 hours and above. EEDC publishes daily availability for each Band A feeder; if your feeder has fallen short, mention it. Where a home is wrongly disconnected, NERC's 2007 Connection and Disconnection Procedures say a distributor that disconnects in breach of them is liable on conviction to pay the customer a penalty, set at ₦1,000 per day or part of a day for residential customers.

Outside Enugu State, unresolved complaints go to NERC's forum process; see complaining about your DisCo.

Where Pryme fits

Long outages push households to spend on fuel or backup. A naira Savings Box can hold money for an inverter or repairs, separate from day-to-day spending.

Questions people ask

What is the EEDC customer care number?

EEDC's July 2024 tariff notice lists 084 700 100, and 0815 082 6060 and 0815 082 6061 for WhatsApp or SMS. Its homepage shows newer WhatsApp lines in an image, so check enugudisco.com for the latest.

How do I report no light to EEDC?

Use the complaint portal at complaint.myeedc.com, the complaint form on enugudisco.com, or the phone and WhatsApp lines, and give your meter or account number, address and the time supply went off. Ask for a reference.

Who do I call for no light in Enugu?

MainPower, EEDC's Enugu State subsidiary, is the distributor. If a complaint is not resolved, escalate to the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

What should I do about a fallen electric pole?

Keep everyone away, do not touch the wire, and report it as an emergency to the distributor at once with the exact location.
