Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Complaining about MainPower or EEDC: EERC and NERC routes

Where an unresolved electricity complaint goes in the south-east: EERC for Enugu State, ASERC for Anambra, NERC Forum offices elsewhere, and the steps.

The short answer

Always complain to your distributor in writing first. If MainPower does not resolve it in Enugu State, escalate to the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC); in Anambra, to ASERC; in other EEDC areas still under NERC, to the NERC Forum office for your area (Abakaliki and Awka offices are listed by NERC), and from there to NERC on appeal.

Step one is always the distributor

Every regulator expects you to give the company a chance to fix the problem first, and to do it in writing. NERC's Forum offices page says customers must first file their complaint with the DisCo in writing, and can go to the Forum if they are not satisfied or if the DisCo goes beyond the regulatory timeframe. EEDC's FAQ says the same in practical terms: call your district hotline, then follow up with a written complaint to the district's Customer Care Unit (CCU).

  • EEDC call centre: 084700100; WhatsApp/SMS only: 08150826060, 08150826061 (from EEDC's FAQ).
  • EEDC online complaint portal: complaint.myeedc.com.
  • Written letter to your district CCU, with a copy kept and stamped as received if you deliver it in person.

A complaint that will survive escalation includes your account or meter number, address, district, the problem, dates, what you want done, and copies of bills or receipts. Keep the reference number.

Step two depends on your state

NERC's metering factsheet, published in October 2026, sets out the escalation ladder as DisCo, then NERC Forum office, then appeal to NERC, and says that in states with their own electricity regulatory commission, steps two and three go to that commission instead. Legit.ng's report of the same factsheet says customers can go to the Forum after 15 days without resolution.

Escalating in Enugu State: EERC

EERC took full regulatory control of the Enugu State market from NERC in October 2024, under the Enugu State Electricity Law 2023. It has acted on billing complaints: ThisDay reported in June 2025 that EERC ordered MainPower to refund over-billed units from April 2025 to more than 20,000 customers on estimated bills. The same report gives EERC's contacts as info@eerc.en.gov.ng and 09122642755, and notes that EERC orders are listed at eerc.en.gov.ng/order.

  1. Send EERC your written complaint to MainPower, its reference and MainPower's response (or note that none came).
  2. State what you want: refund, bill correction, meter, reconnection.
  3. Attach bills, receipts and any supply log.
  4. Keep EERC's acknowledgement.

Escalating to a NERC Forum office

NERC's Forum offices hear appeals from decisions of a DisCo's Customer Complaints Unit. The first page of NERC's Forum offices list, checked in October 2026, includes two south-east offices:

Forum officeAddressPhoneEmail
AbakalikiNo. 3, Ezekuna Crescent, Off Nsugbe Street, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State0903-780-8590abakalikiforum@nerc.gov.ng
AwkaAlexander-Davids Place, Plot 479, Zik Avenue, Awka, Anambra State0903-780-8594awkaforum@nerc.gov.ng

Other offices, possibly including ones for Imo and Abia, may be on the second page of NERC's list. With Anambra now under ASERC, check whether the Awka office still takes Anambra complaints before you travel. NERC's Customer Protection Regulations 2023 allow the Forum to hold virtual hearings, according to Mondaq's summary.

Common complaints and what to ask for

Estimated bill too high
A bill correction to the energy cap for your feeder and a credit for past months.
Band A without 20 hours
A band review or downgrade, and compensation for the shortfall months.
Meter not supplied after payment
Installation within the timeline promised, or a refund.
Wrongful disconnection
Reconnection and energy credits for the days disconnected.
Payment not reflected
Reconciliation and a corrected bill, using your bank's e-payment receipt.

What the regulators can order

  • Bill corrections and refunds or credit adjustments, as EERC ordered for MainPower customers in 2025.
  • Sanctions on DisCos: NERC fined eight DisCos, including Enugu, a combined ₦628.03 million in April 2025 for breaching estimated-billing caps, according to TheCable.
  • Energy credits for wrongful disconnection, under NERC's Customer Protection Regulations 2023.

What to check first

  1. The distributor's name on your latest bill.
  2. That you complained in writing and have a reference.
  3. That 15 days have passed, or the distributor has replied unsatisfactorily.
  4. Which regulator covers your state.

Related guides: EEDC customer care, EEDC estimated bill cap and estimated electricity bills: your rights. This is information, not legal advice.

Where Pryme fits

Regulators ask for proof of payment. A verifiable receipt or statement generated with VerifyDoc.ai (receipts) lets the reader check that it is unaltered.

Questions people ask

How do I report MainPower to EERC?

Complain to MainPower in writing first, then send EERC the complaint, reference and response. ThisDay lists EERC's contacts as info@eerc.en.gov.ng and 09122642755.

Where is NERC forum office in the south-east?

NERC lists Forum offices in Abakaliki (No. 3 Ezekuna Crescent, 0903-780-8590) and Awka (Plot 479 Zik Avenue, 0903-780-8594). Check NERC's site for others.

How long before I can go to the NERC forum?

Legit.ng's report of NERC's October 2026 factsheet says after 15 days without resolution, or sooner if the DisCo rejects your complaint.

Does NERC still handle complaints in Enugu?

No. EERC took over regulation of Enugu State in October 2024, so escalation there goes to EERC.
